There was a Community Center in one small town that had not been damaged or destroyed... the ground was not covered in rubble. It was just gone. Completely. As if it had never been there to begin with. All that was left was the foundation. Like it had been picked up in its entirety and moved somewhere else. Even the fields surrounding it were completely clean. No debris. Like the tornado didn't even come through there but it was the cleanest place in the entire state that day. It's hard to describe. But it's like if someone just picked up your house and it was suddenly gone. Everything inside it gone forever.

I was here during this tornado (which is what it was despite what the title says lol) and everyone was fine! There was a lot of uprooted trees and some damaged roofs but no deaths or anything! I saw a false chimney or two get dislodged too, but our bird feeder and its pole stayed perfectly in place.
I was caught in a storm like that in Beaverton Oregon. I heard the wind howling and a loud grinding sound. My dog was outside. I got him safely up onto the balcony. Then one of the trees got ripped out falling to one side in the backyard and a very large tree was ripped and fell across the house from the front to the backyard. Luckily we didn't have any injuries. It's something you don't forget and makes you panic easily when caught in a storm. Stay safe and be blessed!

I saw this happen once in WA. Wind or rain will do this to a stand of trees like that. They're very thin & share the same root system. B/c they're so packed together, it doesn't take much to knock them down. In WA, they'd thin out groups/stands like these so they can develop their own roots & grow from "saplings" to good-sized tree that that can better handle the weather.

I lived in Colorado Springs back in the mid 2000's and 90+ MPH wind gusts at the edge of the Pike's Peak foothills were common in the summer. I lost count of how many times we had to rebuild our fence. It would get torn up exactly like in this video. And the sturdier you made the fence, the worse the damage was to the yard.

This is why drought conditions every few years are good for trees. Makes their roots grow deep to find water, making them stronger and better able to stand in high winds. Adversity isn't fun, but practically everything is made stronger through it.

I live in Dallas and we have a clay based soil with hard white rock beneath that, so the roots will actually begin to become more shallow for us as the roots will seek out the irrigation water from peoples sprinkler systems, causing the turf grass to thin from exposed tree roots fighting the grass for the water and nutrients.

This is why you make sure there are no roots growing under your foundation when you build your house
The tree isn't rooted deeply at all.
We had a house where the tree roots went right through the pipes that went from the house out to the road, oh my good God they dug up the whole side of the house had to be dug up and all had to be redone, the roots had to be torn out... it was a disaster!!!
The foundation is fine. IT'S the landscaped backyard

@@marthalee5277it's an oak. They mostly have surface roots. They blow down easily when the ground is very wet.

We had this in Indiana last year. Big storm blew in for about an hour and live trees were ripped completely out of the ground everywhere! It looked like a bunch of little tornadoes had come through town
