*Many singers worldwide attempt to sing a Whitney song and either fail or barely make it but Katrina did 6 in a row, pitch perfect, with riffs & runs, sitting down & crossed legs. Who else can do that?*
Katrina is one of the best singer in the Philippines but she is extremely under-rated. But recently she is gaining mainstream exposure! Hopefully the Philippines will recognize how great of a talent this woman has.

Research her origins. Amazing story. She was singing on facebook, recording with a cellphone, holding a comb like a microphone. It got her the nick name "suklay queen" or "Comb Queen". It's been mostly all uphill from there.
She was the one supposed to be invited for Singer 2018 but refused it and let KZ Tandingan join it.
She was also invited in The World's Best, also refused it and had The TNT Voice take it instead
Her reasoning is that she doesn't want to be away from her child and want to watch him grow first once he's all grown maybe 12 - 14 years old she can start accepting invites.

Her riffs and runs, are SO clean. Power. This is one of my favorite performances of her. Her Beyonce medley is also beautiful.
You know, when she did this live show and when I found out that the entrance fee is free over there, oh my goodness!!!, I wanted to fly asap to the Philippines that week. But unfortunately, my passport wasn't available. Lesson learned here, you must have all your international documents ready at all times so you can just hop on the plane at any time in any place. There are no free gigs here in Houston. haha! 😂

The venue is like a resto bar where she performs every friday night i think. Where you can chill, request a song, jam with the band and drink your beer while katrina is singing. Like typical bars in the Philippines so there are no monitors setup for her.

Katrina pretty much did a lot of heavy lifting to get her entire family out of poverty and into a better life. She just kept punching through all the obstacles, trials, failures, sickness and the regular toxic environment of haters that celebrities deal with. The woman is a boss and constantly proves that hard work, constant learning and faith never fails

There had been a lot of music reactors came to visit her performance and all of them was blown away....same of what you said, they are all willing to pay. But entrance during that time was free. Now you pay about 5.00 or about 6.00 dollors for an entrance fee

Efra, you can literally hop from one bar to another in one evening alone, 1 to 2 hours apart and listen to and discover and be shocked to as many Katrina Velardes, Morisettes, Regines, Daryls, Bugoys, not only as featured artists but also among the crowd. You can watch also Nina sings in the same environment and have recorded it live. Please also watch Katrina's one take sessions and many more of her performance in her channel. Wish the pandemic is over and come to the Philippines.

You should see her earliest videos when she sang in some provincial amateur singing contests. She competed with the likes of Charice Pempengco and Angeline Quinto. They all come from very humble beginnings, almost poverty... very 'rough' backgrounds as you have described. They competed in those singing contests that offered very little prize money but they have to do it to put food on their dining tables..
