    "
    The sweet smell of a great sorrow lies over the land
    Plumes of smoke rise and merge into the leaden sky:
    A man lies and dreams of green fields and rivers,
    But awakes to a morning with no reason for waking
    He's haunted by the memory of a lost paradise
    In his youth or a dream, he can't be precise
    He's chained forever to a world that's departed
    It's not enough, it's not enough
    His blood has frozen & curdled with fright
    His knees have trembled & given way in the night
    His hand has weakened at the moment of truth
    His step has faltered
    One world, one soul
    Time pass, the river rolls
    And he talks to the river of lost love and dedication
    And silent replies that swirl invitation
    Flow dark and troubled to an oily sea
    A grim intimation of what is to be
    There's an unceasing wind that blows through this night
    And there's dust in my eyes, that blinds my sight
    And silence that speaks so much louder that words,
    Of promises broken'

    When I hear this song its like David took the words from my soul that my mouth could never form. I usually cry when I listen to this song because of just how much i feel what hes saying and knowing that somebody out there can feel the same pain as me. I don't know why but it seems so many people have these same longings and even though it probably never heals we are brought together in acknowledgment of eachothers suffering by music like this.

    In my opinion this is the best song of the Gilmour-leading period.
    Personally I prefer the time where Waters was in the band, but don't get me wrong... Gilmour, Mason and Wright did make great songs after Waters' departure, including this one. ;)

      Schultzovič Absolutely that’s when they showed Roger how valuable they were. Roger always considered himself as Pink Floyd and he was a great lyricist and bass player but Pink Floyd was a complete group not just one person.

    • @gordonschilpp708
      @gordonschilpp708 5 лет назад +3

      Christian Encinas Actually we would have never heard all of the Pink Floyd music. Roger had no idea how to arrange music and David did. He arranged everything after Cyd. Roger became so personal about everything he wrote that it became hard for the other 3 to contribute. The Final Cut for me is tedious to listen to except for a few good riffs from David. That’s when things began to unravel for them and the court battle started.

    I distinctly remember listening to this song at full blast, while putting on the morning load in my house after the wife went to work and the kids went to school. I would drink and bawl my eyes out because I was trapped by alcoholism. After 24 years of drinking I hit a bottom that I could not take anymore. I couldn't live with booze and I couldn't live without it. I was unemployable, life sucked, and I was slowly, painfully losing everything that I thought I cared for, and not caring anymore. My moment of clarity came several months later, I was hitting my knees and telling God that if he didn't help me I was gonna check out, do myself in. I sought help and a 12 step program saved my life. As grim as this song is, I am reminded of how bad it was back there in time, I never want to go back. A good follow up Floyd song is Terminal Frost, the uplifting middle of that song has me picturing myself riding a wave of a good sober life. I was always trying to change my dissatisfaction with the cards of life that God dealt me by altering my mood with drugs and alcohol, I don't question God's will anymore.

    Anyone Listening on December 9, 2017 ? Saw Pink Floyd a few times in the 80's live. All were within the first 15 rows. The best was 3rd row just off right center, I was first in line that time. The days when getting on line waiting through the night for tickets were allowed. I'd buy 6 and sell the others to my friends with a "service fee" making my ticket free for waiting on line. The place I'd go, Tower Records, the ticket guy would come out about 15 minutes before they went on sale and ask everyone their name and how many tickets they wanted. The machine was spitting them out as fast as possible and they were in an envelope and waiting before you got to the counter.

    David Gilmour wrote this song during the time of the lawsuit
    case trial between the band and Roger Waters. David Gilmour said he was so sadly
    affected by what was happening then and it was the first time he wrote lyrics of
    a song before the music. David was deeply sad and in sorrow. Listen to (LOST
    FOR WORDS) song, David Gilmour expressed some of his feeling about some of Roger
    Waters remarks he said after Roger lost the lawsuit case and removed from the
    band. Roger Water was the leader of Pink Floyd, but he was a dictator too, and his
    dictatorship got him out of Pink Floyd, Cymbaline thank you for this video, Cheers

    If everyone would listen to the entire Momentary Lapse of Reason album you’d see basically the entire album is a big “fuck you” to Roger Waters. This was the first album after Waters left, and you can hear what went on in all these lyrics. Listen to the album with that frame of mind you’ll see it too, it’s awesome. I believe most of these songs on this album are directed towards Waters.

    • @bellarosalarsen1638
      @bellarosalarsen1638 6 лет назад

      No, have a Psychopath stalking me for over a decade, took my little girl away and I can't get to the police, Interpol. We really need help. This is the 4th year away from my child. He intercepts every attempt to seek help and has my emails account monitored. His name is Peter Goadsby, a really insane man that is obsessed with torture, fezes and told me he should be in prison between 6 to 9 years. He's killing me, or driving me to commit suicide and I seriously need help. Just too long away from my daughter. Can you help us?

    • @terra7920
      @terra7920  6 лет назад

      Gege Andersen Yes I’m gonna to try my best to help you. I don’t know how. if you’re able to can you tell me what state or town ? Maybe I can call authorities for you? Or just tell me what you need
