This month's Reading Japanese Meet was quite the civil war between Japanese owners, non-JDM owners, the police and football fans! In all the chaos I captured the scenes inside the meet, as well as arrivals and departures of the show.

Since the ‘organisers’ of ‘Reading Japanese Meet’ don’t own, book, or manage the venue, or have any official capacity whatsoever, then how do they expect to be able to control who can attend the venue and stop other ‘organisers’ from having their meetings there too?
They’ve always been bit of clowns so no wonder there’s other people trying to organise meets same day.
Used to be a good meet, it's shit now.
At this stage the meet doesn't even need organisers, people know when it is, they turn up.
Nobody wants to see a car park full of badly modified hatchbacks 😅
I mean it's a public area and if you are coming to look at the cars what does it matter what you show up in?

Back in the day we would have a bit of a civil agreement. The longer standing organiser would have dibs. If they stop their meets another organiser would be able to do a meet
People moan about the police presence, yet if it wasn't for idiots driving like fools and making loads of noise, they wouldn't be there. Surely it's better to have this type of police involvement then then arresting people.
Maybe their time would be better spent preventing and solving crime?

I would rather have police presence at the exits because to many people get injured or killed because of idiots leaving meets... You can make cars look great while being legal.
I think the police supervision approach is better than just charging everyone who attended like they had before. If only there was venues that hosted meets on their own land.
There are venues that host meets on their own land, in addition to these meets too.
Isn't the "Supervision" just a case of record everything on video and then send out of bunch of NIP's in the post to the registered address of every numberplate caught on film ? 🤔
Seems the supervision, linked to people behaving themselves means the meet wasn't moved on from car park to car park
Imagine teling people you can't bring your non-Japanese car to a public car park you don't own.

@@JP_RS6 you can park out of the way, but it's not originally meant to be a 'show' but a meeting of those who own Japanese cars
@@AdamC3046 I suppose. I tend to attend free for all events for this reason, I don't own a Japanese car so wouldn't attend to avoid getting any hate. I'd rather go where everyone and everything is welcome.
What’s hilarious about that is if you go to car meets in Japan there is always BMWs etc at their meets they just park them all together so the people who want to see Japanese cars go look at those and the people who want to see the foreign cars go look at those or you can just look at both, don’t get the whole gate keeping attitude I love jdm cars but still like seeing other modded cars

Car meets have gone down hill nowadays compared to how they was
They don’t need to chase or pull anyone, fine through the post using police obtained video evidence
Especially when most of these are IRVs and not traffic cars, the drivers probably are not cleared to pursue and the vehicle not authorised to pursue either.
You can be pulled over, but only when it's safe and can be done without a pursuit. Fail to stop, they have to hand off to local traffic enforcement police.

Nah doubt. These meets will forever and always exist. They were the same when I used to do them in 2009. And likely were 10/20 years prior. They can try and stop them but it's virtually impossible
But more variety is always good
The lorry drivers get paid by the hour- if a copper wants to block the road and waste his time then why would he go out of his way to move him XD

Don’t know about the UK, but in Sweden, you are not allowed to park “against traffic” and they haven’t parked with the lines.
Emergency services here have an exemptions for parking, double parking, parking facing oncoming traffic. These fall under “routine” exemptions not “emergency exemptions”, but don’t let this confuse you. It means that they can claim this exemption even when not attending an emergency. They can claim it even for routine enquiries or essentially any police work.
Wish we had that law here, parking against the traffic is rife here

Watch the 1320 video report of the underground meet in Japan. You will see how respectful some cultures are at car meets. Not like the uk scene at all nowadays. Sad how its become

AdamC im currently renting a Peugeot 208 sport version brand new same as the cops use and they are bloody good at cornering mate , 0-60 is not that quick around 8.5 but 130mph top speed for a 1.2 turbo engine not bad

Perhaps the cruise scene need to put funds together for actual venues, you'd still have to follow health and safety to degrees but as it is it isn't working, only cause of the criminal element (obviously road traffic and crowd loitering offences) involved, but other than that you need to work with the Police to arrange local spots such as sea fronts for eligible times of the month 😂 no pun intended
There are plenty of shows at actual venues.
These easy, free meets are in addition to those.
@@AdamC3046 cat and mouse has always been a thing with boy racers and police, but your wasting your time and fuel when it comes to racing between different 'venues' when it's people's places of work and there are people's and families your getting in the way of.... pitch together, get some land

It's not a crime, but it's a Japanese meet. Specifically meant for Japanese cars. By all means park out of the way, but that's not what happens.
Why not have a proper page and pay for tickets so the owner of the page can approach certain places that can hold a decent event and pay for it
Those events happen in addition to these free meets.

Car meets are just sh*t nowadays. People turn up in any old piece of crap and think they're some sort of badass.
Go back about 15+ years ago and every car meet had cars that youd actually be interested in.

I feel like fines for "not having a plate while parked in a parking lot" will get thrown out because it's too easy for police to have someone remove plates and hide them so they could then fine everyone for not having plates.

Never financed a car in my life and owned 3 cars by the time I was late twenties. Never get why people finance. It’s false economy, shit for your credit rating and just fake! Feels so much better to drive something nice when you know you own it outright and have earned it.
