That "Hybrid Chorus" is absolutely stunning! :)
This is my favorite piece of gear I've ever owned...and far more people should be looking into these instead of paying $1-2K for an analog chorus that can't do 1/10th of the chorus tricks this thing can.

rblossey Do you refer to the 1210 or other?

    • @rblossey

I have the 1210 and the ADA STD-1. They all have their unique qualities, some things that none of the others can quite do the same way, but the most capable one out of the three--the one that can pull off the most "styles" of chorus, and do it well--is definitely the PCM80 :)
For somebody who has their rig pretty "built up" already that's looking for just that one last analog chorus they never got around to--those people should get those boxes, by all means (and they are unique, absolutely); but for somebody who's in the process of building up their rig and has a *lot* still to buy AND wants to get a line-level chorus that's better than anything you can find in a pedal-those people should be seriously looking at the PCM80.
I play all 3 of these regularly, and the PCM80 can definitely "hang" with those :) And in my opinion, it produces "lusher" choruses for cleans than either the 1210 or the STD-1 (the STD-1 looks like it can do 6 voices like the PCM, but in practice, it doesn't really work--for me, 4 is just about the most you can get away with and still sound good).

@@italoop7850 i was workng on a project that required some lexicon chorus vibes..and i was able to emulate those vibes thanks to this video.
it's really hard to find any samples of lexicons being used exclusively as a chorus effect.

@@0e0 Thank you for explaining that. You are perfectly right! There is so much ignorance out there... people think Lexicon=reverb or Eventide=pitch shifting nad know almost nothing about how both companies make great efx, just about in any dept.. Lexicon chorus is exceptionally good, better than many others, even those considered the "good" ones. No comparison. Glad these clips helped you out. Cheers!

@@0e0 Most people think multi-voice chorus came out with cheap units of the mid 90s but it's not true. Lexicon has always been VERY focused on chorus efx. In 1983 the mighty Lexicon 224 was expanded to the 224XL model, including effects algorithms. These were based on 6 delay lines (mostly 2 multitap delays w/3 voices each) structures like CHORUS & ECHO, MULTIBAND DELAYS, and RESONANT DELAYS. These algorithms were later made available on the PCM70 in the mid '80s and 10 years later on the PCM80/81.
The last version of the CHORUS algorithm in the PCM80/81 is extremely powerful as you can adjust each single LFO (6 of them) independently AND the GLIDE function is also added. So you can have gliding chorus or modulation chorus or even mix both for hybrid choruses. The 80/81 also feature a new algorithm called GLIDE>HALL, where a 4 GLIDING delays feed the 6 voice delays. The variety and extremely clinical chorus efx you can achieve on the 80/81 have no matches out there, on any machine, unless it's a 2U Eventide where anything can be designed. The 224XL and PCM70 used randomization rather than modulation or glide. That gives those units a very particular and interesting chorusing character. It can't be customized as deeply as in the PCM80/81 but it's still a very lush and spectacular efx. Lexicon invented delays with modulation with the Prime Time and Super Prime Time digital delays so one can really state digital chorus IS a Lexicon milestone. The later delays, PCM41 and 42 take Lexicon chorus to a whole new amazing sound! People thinking reverb is THE Lexicon thing have no idea. Many have discovered Lexicon chorus after long discussions and found out the magic tones it offers. Truth is most people never press the EDIT button and live with very few things a device offers off the many it can do really well. A dumb way to use these wonders!

No FX LOOP! Never. Run one output of the Triaxis to the mixer and that's your dry sound. Use its second output to feed the TC2290 which goes to two channels for stereo. Then use the mixer Auxes to run the PCM in full stereo. Connect the mixer to the power amp inputs. Run all balanced wires. Read the manuals.

Can you recommend a rack mixer that can be used with a guitar rig or does it not matter which one you take? Btw: Thanks for all the demos of your sounds, I really like them and they are a welcome change to all the basic sounds one normally hears.

@@TheWizzard29 Thank you for your appreciation! As for mixers in a gtr rig, I'm using desktop a Mackie. Not sure about rack mounted ones though. A lot of people these days seem to trust Samson SM-10 but it all depends on how many machines you need to use and how (their routings). Also RANE SM82 was a good one. My preference goes to desktop models anyway as they have much better headroom, routing possibilities and tone.

@@italoop7850 Sounds interesting, thanks for the recommendations. What would happen if you bypassed one of the effects in the mixer though? Let's say I use a rig with delay and reverb in a live setting. At a certain part of a song I want my reverb to be bypassed. If I am not mistaken the guitar signal would still go through the bypassed FX and therefore influence my sound, right? Wouldn't it be better for my guitar signal if I was able to completely put the reverb out of the signal chain in a true-bypass behaviour? Turning down a fader on the desk while playing is probably a hard task to do. I don't know of any mixing desk which could do that remotely controlled, except for a Boss ES-5 which was designed for pedals I guess. Please excuse my newbie questions, I'm just getting interested more and more in a parallel FX setup, since I think it's the cleanest way of routing.

@@TheWizzard29 Most quality units have system settings for Bypass status; you can set it for MUTE. Or you can simply create a dummy preset with muted audio stored in... or use a MIDI CC (pedal or switch9 to instantly reduce/kill a level. Study the manuals!

The more effects you add up like reverb or delay, is going to make those slight differences between those presets uninteligible and meaningless. Good work, nontheless
