Like many of us, I think it's time to consider breaking up the KPG/JG pairing. We need an upgrade here defensively and at PG. However, my take is slightly different than the norm. I think KPJ is a little bit better at SG ATM. Though KPJ is (currently) better, his value on the market is probably less than JG. Why not trade JG for a top 6 pick and move KPJ to SG? This would give us a potential lineup of Amen/Scoot, KPJ, Walker/Whitmore, Jabari, Sengun. This is a more well-balanced and talented starting 5. Anyway, just wanted to throw that idea out there. I don't believe it's a lock that we see KPJ traded and not JG.
Because jalen green hasn't had a chance to thrive next to a true PG yet. He has more value to the rockets than KPJ does right now. Letting go of our number 2 pick without having been able to see him on a competitive rockets roster would piss off the fans
@@sentrygunner Yes, it will likely piss off some fans (particularly the Green Gang), and yes, he has more value to the Rockets than KPJ right now (which supports the idea actually). Can you name me one key area that shows JG as being superior to KPJ? I'd like to see it. Something other than youth and speed..
There are many things wrong with this. First off you can’t waive off the 2 year age gap between KPJ and Green. Younger players have more upside than older ones all else equal, and Green is way ahead of KPJ when looking at when KPJ was the age Green is now. So Green has a lot more upside. Second Green will definitely not fetch you the Scoot Henderson in a trade. And Amen Thompson has way too much risk as a point guard whose 3 ball is beyond awful while playing in a league with teenagers whilst being a relatively older prospect. Amen is NOT worth trading for. As for Walker and Whitmore, neither have the upside Jalen has. Third, this roster doesn’t need to add anymore young players. We make exceptions for Wemby, Scoot and Miller because they all have star potential in some sense. This team needs impactful vets rather than rookies like Walker or Whitmore who project to be role players long term. Fourth, as others have said, Green hasn’t gotten to play with a real point guard, so in a way KPJ’s play has come at the quality of Green’s play. Overall the best move is to draft either Wemby, Scoot or Miller and only draft anyone else if the trade market for pick 4-6 is garbage, sign a free agent point guard, a backup center and hopefully one more vet at either wing or backup point guard. Roster should be something like: PG: Harden, Tyty SG: Green, KPJ SF: KJM, Miller PF: Jabari, Tari C: Sengun, Naz Reid Any leftover cap should be used to attain the best backup vets at either guard or wing. Maybe they can trade this years 20th pick for Tyus Jones or a similar guard as well
@@alecfranklin3827 Thanks for weighing in. Right now you can likely get a top 5 pick for Jalen. What happens if you have another year of zero to minimal growth. His value will be considerably less because he will have established himself as an inefficient scorer that brings little else to the table. The threat is real. KPJ currently provides more production than JG. Though older, he's not a finished product either. I say roll the dice, shore up a few problem areas, and replace JG with Jarace.
