I think it is critical to stay in shape. Years ago, I started running trails to stay in shape for spring turkey season and fall/winter deer season. Eventually, I was so consumed with trail running that I virtually stopped deer hunting to train for long trail races in the fall and late winter. I have never slacked up on turkeys. I have found a balance with running and hunting now. At 54, I am in about as good a shape as I was when I got out of the Marine Corps at 21 years old (joined at 17). Thanks for doing this segment; it is important.

Absolutely love the videos where you dig into Ryan’s brain! I’ve watched every video that you have ever done. I just turned 29 and have grown up in the Midwest tree stand hunting. I started a roofing company 3 years ago and have finally started experiencing the financial freedom that comes after hard work. This was my first year being able to take a month off to hunt. You guys inspired me to head west. I was able to take my first bull elk and Mule deer on back country solo hunts! Basically all of my gear came from your gear dump videos so you are definitely earning your sponsor’s business! Keep up the inspiring work guys I love watching! I pray I’m in the shape you guys are in when my hair starts turning grey!

As you age you will change, at 76 I bow hunted 24days for elk in SW Colo. The back pack every day is something I've never thought of. I run hills with BP 3 days a week plus use kettle bell three days. Adding back pack to kettle bells, thanks. Cbd every day, saved my bow shooting.

I’ve been waiting on this episode. I’ve ran marathons, I’ve done Ironman races, and it has all gone the same way. A all or nothing, wide open training season that left no time for anything else (even hunting) then a off season crash that ended with me being out of shape and overweight. My fitness goals have changed to a more balanced lifestyle that I can maintain all year long. Thanks for this! Now I just need to find the episode that lays out Brian’s training plan.

As I've gotten older (42) I've really worked on finding a healthy sleep schedule. But, as a fellow creative, I feel what Brian is saying here- sometimes you just have to finish the creative process before you can disengage. I find that I sleep better after finishing a project (for me, writing/recording music) than if I'd forced myself to abandon an idea just to keep my normal bedtime routine. The expelling of creative energy is almost as necessary as the expelling of physical energy for me in order to stay healthy in mind and body. Great insights here, guys, as always. Lots of motivation to keep moving even though it's cold.

I'm 49 myself and I did something I've never done in the past, I cut out any alcohol this year. I cant believe how much better I feel and how well I recover. Just packed a bull out two days ago, one of the loads was 100+ pounds through deep snow. Years past I would have had some definite joint aches from that same trip. Thanks for sharing and ill have to try some of the supplements, never used much of them in the past.

I totally changed my diet to high fat/high protein ( Elk and New Mexico free- grassed beef and absolutely cutting all processed sugars) training daily at 7k ft. and above elevation.. it's definitely a mindset to want to continually improve both in hunting and in life. . Keep doing well and Thank You!

Oh stop it @ the 40 minute mark! Hopefully, you will look back someday and realize just how young you really are. After the better part of 30 years of applying, I finally was drawn for a Shiras moose in Colorado this year and at 77 I proved to myself that I can still solo kill moose, but I needed help packing it out. Two years ago I packed my cow elk a mile uphill to camp, but as you know, moose are BIG, even the Lower 48 ones. Love your videos; we mature guys need motivation and advice too.

The more I watch y’all the clearer it becomes that my problem is sleep. I do fairly well at getting right, eating clean (Jan-Oct). But, I drive a TT for UPS and I go from days to nights and nights to days sometimes daily. So, I crave carbs. When I get into my discipline, I can resist though. My workouts suffer depending on my hours too. I’m good at recovering and gaining intensity in the summer, but 13 or 14 hrs make workouts tough because I have to sleep to drive. Each year gets harder. I’m 53. I hate that. My mind says stay the course and my body follows, but slower each season. Any ideas (other than retirement) that could help supplement the radical shifts in my circadian rhythm(s)?

We drove out there from Ohio stayed our first night in Cheyenne and i think that really helped us acclimate to the elevation. our first hike was a 4 mile out and back (8 miles total) with about 2k foot gain. If you are doing a detox regimen you know if it's working by your BO and the color of pee, color and texture, and smell of your poop.
Unfortunately, most supplements that you buy are primarily filler. That's the reason some of the glucosamine you tried didn't work. How do I know? I am a holistic Physician. My tools are Chiropractic, acupuncture, nutrition both food and supplements. You have to look at professional brands; the purity is more consistent cuz when I prescribe and sell a patient supplements, I need and expect them to work.
You guys are definitely ahead of the curve in terms of understanding what it takes to be/stay healthy. I, and docs like me, have been saying this stuff for decades.
Haha...commenting about when you were younger...haha. yup.
The hardest thing about getting older (64yo) is maintaining health, maintaining strength, maintaining stamina. Strength wise, I experienced very little loss until mid late 50s. Over last few years I went from doing 75 push-ups in a minute to 50. 20 pull-ups to 13. Lost my splits. Frustrating. Going into geriatrics kicking and screaming. Still doing back pack hunts here in Montana.
Since you guys aren't kids, what you guys say has more meaning. You guys are starting to experience the effects of aging and are figuring it out. It's hard to take these fitness people seriously when they're only in their 20s. I mean in your 20s you better be fit and lean. I recently went on a rafting trip. A comment was made by a 30 something, you're the oldest one here and you have the best body. Haha..I wish one of the young ladies had saud that. You guys are an inspiration to me personally. Keep it up.
