  • My gazebo sunflower seed bird feeder served as the perfect feeding station, making this feeding frenzy a birdwatchers' delight. Watch as Bluejays, Northern Cardinals, Chickadees, House Finches, Goldfinches, Tufted Titmice, Nuthatches, and House Sparrows all dart in to feed and take a spin on the feeder, while Red-bellied and Downy Woodpeckers dine on the nearby suet. Listen as the Pileated Woodpecker comes in close to scold from a nearby tree, but stays out of camera's view. Notice, as the days get longer, the Goldfinches are already starting to get some yellow back. For a kaleidoscope of colorful spring birds please see my companion video, "Spring Birds' Feeding Frenzy." • Spring Birds' Feeding ... I think cats will love it too.

I get a lot of birds, but...I always thought the little sparrows, finches, kept the cardinals and blue jays away. I used to see them more..miss them to!

It is fun watching them spin on the feeder :-) It is nice to see the Goldfinches joining all the others on that feeder. By me they seem to like to stay away from a busy feeder. Funny how when the Blue Jay is there all the other birds stay away and then jump right back on the feeder when he leaves..

Thanks for the nice comment, so glad Gary loves it. Sorry about the gunshots. Never heard them before or since, and that was very poor timing. I should have edited them out :( You might show Gary my "Spring Birds' Feeding Frenzy." A lot more colorful birds, not quite as frenzied though, and no gunshots. See you and Gary tomorrow morning!

Yes you are very lucky as am I, molonlave. I don't take it for granted. I thank God for these beautiful avian creatures. I often have to stop what I'm doing and just watch in amazement for awhile. Actually, we have the Carolina Chickadee too. I can't tell them apart, but the Indiana bird book states that the Black-capped Chickadees are only in the northern third of the state. Thanks for watching. Hope you didn't get dizzy. Lol

Thanks for your kind comment. Yes, when I looked out my patio door, the cardinals are what grabbed by attention immediately, more so even than the feeding frenzy, which was something in itself. I didn't know we had so many male cardinals around and that red was just popping against the snowy background. Haven't had that many since. We were so blessed!

Almost looks like my yard. I have a lot of feeders. I have that same bird house looking one also. Just not in as good of shape. It's fell a few times and is cracked all over. But works well still. I make my own peanut butter and suet cakes. It's Grand Central Station until Sunset.
