Just listened to this song a half a dozen times back to back. I am an old fart. I love all the era's, well. ..the best of those eras..and this is derivative of Brian Eno with a bad ass female vocalist who knew to back off the vocals to get the drama built up about the band. It is genius. We all talk about why the vocals are so in the back ground. Well, not really. Fun production values. Love the drummer in the storage vault. I love this kind of Memphis soul recording of modern rock. Two rooms and the band was melted together. Awesome stuff.
Here from Billions too, albeit late (post season finale). I thought it was Heartless Bastards--she sounds just like Erika Wennerstrom on this song! Dig.
Lucy, hi. Here is the problem. New music has the instruments washing out the voice. old music has the voice loud and clear. listen to Grace Slick, Pat Benatar, Ann Wilson, ect. Learn from them. Lots of good luck all over you.
i, too, like someone who sings out, with their own voice (as opposed to something affected), but the issue with this vid is that station engineer seems to be attempting to get isolation on the vocal, plus the song is pitched low. studio version sounds awesome.
Lucy, you are awesome! I bought your album the next morning...thank you!
billions brought me here !!
Love it! Amazing voice, lyrics, and song
