This song is a great example of how christians can make cool music, and how youth can have fun without doing the same things that the world does.
Something many people don't understand is that Hillsong Y&F is attempting to reach out to the younger generation through their music. The video may be difficult to understand at first (I know it was for me), but their ultimate goal is to get those who aren't saved to be saved. They don't just make music for Christians to enjoy. They make music to spread the REAL LOVE of Jesus Christ to those who aren't saved. That includes their music videos as well.
This is why I love Hillsong. They continuously push the limits of what 'Christian' music should be. They don't care about the divide of secular and Christian music; they're trying to break it. Their music videos are so creative and require you to think. Like really think. Just like how jesus told parables. There is no format or sound Christian music should be like and worship music videos is allowed to be more than just a worship band jumping on a stage.
How I understood the meaning behind the video: (Feel free to add if there's a scripture or a word that the Holy Spirit wants to share)
1. “No. It’s over. Stop calling me.” - love in the world is temporary. There will always be an end to it. (Yeah, this love is for real, you’ll never let go. Never let go.”
2. The LOVE drink - is the love that we buy in the world, it may look good on the shelf, but when you buy it and try it yourself, it's doesn't taste good. (Perfect love realized, here with you)
3. The White Shirt People dancing around him in the alley - When you first experienced a ‘taste’ of God’s love but you didn’t really know what it was. Whatever it was, it felt empowering and unreal. (And it's more than just words, Love beyond my control, Out of control.)
4. Women and Parties, Walking through the place with lots of lights and catchy signs - Temptation; "Stop and Drink", "Love Me" (You won’t let me down, You got me, you got me)
5. The light, crazy dancign with white shirt people - Holding my heart till the very end, Jesus, I'm found in your freedom, This is real love, this is real love

I love this song and Jesus loves all of you, I just prayer if there is anyone out there who would like to give their life to Jesus but is afraid of what people think, just go for it, I am 15 and gave my life to Jesus in the summer holidays at a Christian Youth Event, also if there are people out there struggling to get through a difficult time, I pray among you that you will get through you storm in which the devil has intercepted into you're life, in Jesus name, Amen. ❤️🙌👏

For those that are having trouble understanding the video:
In the beginning, he buy's that drink from the convenience store and it says "LOVE" on it. Spits it out because it is cheap love. Next he moves into the tunnel with the dancers in white which are supposed to represent God's love. Notice how he dance's when he's with those who were in white. Then they disappear and he goes searching for "Love" again. He stumbles into a girl's karaoke thing and when they dance with him to the same beat he doesn't feel the same love as when he was dancing with "God's Love". Lastly he travels through the room full of neon signs and they have stuff like "MONEY" "STARDOM" "FAME" and he doesn't find love anywhere there, until the end where he finds the people in white again and get's to dance to "God's love" again. It just show's that you can't find God's "REAL LOVE" from the cheap, materialistic things, this world has to offer! That's how I perceived it.

for the people asking.. this is my interpretation of the music video
1. He texts his lover on the phone and realizes that this love have failed him
2. when he buys the drink it labels "LOVE" and as he drinks it he realizes that it sour or unpleasant which symbolizes relationships or loves that have failed him
3. he's in a dark tunnel and sees people dressed in white and later on joins their dancing, this symbolizes him finding Gods presence in a dark place of his life with God using His children (white clothing represents purity, because they are made clean by God)
4. he then seeks in the eyes of a golden man, which only blinds him. (can be taken spiritually).
5. later on he goes into a bar to seek pleasure but even from all the attention, he left unhappy
6. the scene transitions to a room full of lights that are used for advertising which symbolizes what the world is symbolizing and focuses on the words "i need" "cash" "love me" "forever"
7. He moves on and finds a different light (God's light), suddenly "REAL LOVE" pops out and he joins the people who are clothed in white causing him to levitate (God lifts him up)
8. they continue to praise God with their dancing, he smiles in the end symbolizing the joy he feels in finding God's love, which is the "REAL LOVE"
I hope this helps people to find the meaning of the music video and how it connects to the words. this is just my interpretation so i don't expect it to be all right. if anyone else have noticed any symbolism or want to add into the interpretation just comment

Just because you don't understand something doesn't mean its ''wrong'' or ''not Christlike''.
Do not judge so quickly, I am a Christian and I love Christ and all my brothers and sisters but the Christian community sometimes is horrible. They judge everything and jump to conclusions wayyy to quickly.
This music video has been edited in a way to seem retro. This person gets a message saying that someone doesn't love him= earthly love
Then he tries alchohol but it doesn't fullfill,
he then sees people dancing, I'm guessing that's his first encounter with Christ,
he then goes to what seems to be a ''church'' and then he sees the light= Christ and gets filled with joy and energy.
So, what is so wrong about this video again? stop judging and if you don't understand it don't say stupid things, God bless.

The bit in the middle is odd, weird, but the ending and begining. I get it. It represents what I, we, feel in the confusing mess of trying to find love, in humans, in God, and the resulting cheer and goodness that results. Well done HY&F

Don't know why I cried watching this, but I did.
Wow.
The music with its catchy, upbeat sound and the video with its modern concept were both appealing to me yet I could not pull myself away from the real meaning of the song and the lyrics behind it. Even though this man was surrounded by all these things the world had to offer, he saw that those were not what he needed and found the real place where needed to be, the real love that he needed in his heart. This inspired me and reminded that God's love is the only love I really need and if anything, the REALEST thing that I will ever find on this earth. Thank you once again, Hillsong, but most off all thank you, GOD!
As Christians we have so much things to say and to show, and, i think this song deserves a better video
I really didn't think much of this song until I watched the video! This video is EVERYTHING! When I was younger Untied was breaking boundaries but I've got to hand it Jesus, Young & Free, is such a cool way to reach the youth and people who love God's music. The diversity just adds to how much God's looking to revolutionize the youth.

Red shirt was not saved or new of Christ in the beginning, he only saw love in who he was with. after he felt lost and unsure of him self.
the bottle of "love" was God reaching out to him more than likely through a peace of scripture. he looked to a few Christian friends he knew, it started making sense but he was still being tempted.
the club was temptation coming back followed me need and wanting things he doesn't need greed and every way to pull him away. but he resists and comes to Christ in the end amongst the family of God amongst the love we should share to one another the love of God that flows through us and into everyone we come across, as part of the great commission.
this video is a beautiful form of telling his love. this is the way it spoke to me and many others. enjoy and God bless
LOVE THIS VIDEO!!! It's very creative and glad they did something fresh, fun and abstract instead of a typical concert video. This video makes you think, and the story behind it is beautiful. He's showing us that we often look for love in so many places but in the end, we find 'real love' in Christ.

A church that I visit occasionally plays this on Thursdays to the countdown before college/youth service and they all start dancing to it. What gets me is a version of this song when the music kinda stops and singing for a second when they say this is real love, this is real love and then there's a quick pause and it's like bass drop oh oh oh.

to me the message of the video is this: the love of christ can be found anywhere, in any setting or situation. He encounters the love of christ through dancing, using the talents that he was given, he uses it to be an instrument of God.

Hi, that is so good and encouraging to hear! Even though you don't believe in Him, Jesus loves you and wants to have a relationship with you. He was betrayed, mocked, spat on, severely whipped, beaten, pierced, had a crown of thorns put in His head and crucified for all your sins. The reason Jesus did this is because all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, only someone sinless and perfect could pay that price. Jesus is the only one who has came to this earth and never sinned once in His life. Our sins separate us from God so Jesus came to reconcile us back to God. For the wages of our sin is death but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord!

This is incredible. The hurt that he receives from his break up leads him away from God because he longs for love. The drink represents alcohol that people go to for help but it does not help his soul. The dancers in white represent the spirit trying to help him but he refuses to be helped and fights it. He then walks into a bar being tempered by girls (which men are very vulnerable to) but he finds nothing there. Then he walks into a game like casino area but does not find joy there. But the light hidden in the darkness is the Light of God and there he finds joy with the dancing angels which point to the Lord above to finally tell him he has found the Real Love which is in the Lord. This was so beautiful.

This is my interpretation, I'm seeing a lot of doubtful comments on how the vid relates to the song so I hope at least a couple things from this will help!
0:00 Vid starts with retro cheesy encouragement to younger generations in being powerful, young, and free.
0:15 We see the guy struggling to find earthly love, he's clearly distraught.
0:28 "No. It's over. Please stop calling me." is a realistic representation of how unforgiving the world is, you can easily reach the point where you are irredeemable. But its also a wake up call for him to abandon his pursuit of romance to call on Christ instead, the one who is unconditionally forgiving and redeeming.
0:45 The paper brings attention to how we are constantly heartbroken over other people when Real Love is so close, we just have to reach out and accept it.
0:50 He starts his journey to being closer with Christ
1:00 He's still just starting, so he strays from his journey to pick up a material form of love in attempt to ease the emptiness.
1:10 The material product fails, as so many do. He continues the journey.
1:30 He reaches the darkest place so far. It looks like something bad might happen.
1:34 Instead, the dancers in white take action, and quickly surround him. He isn't trapped though, he's actually enjoying it and really expressing himself, possibly forming his identity with these surrounding followers.
1:55 After raising his hands in a prayer pose to God, he goes through a sequence of interactions with the dancers. They train him to find strength in God and the support of fellow believers. He is tested with fight-like moves. He smoothly overcomes these hurdles with their support.
2:00 Training session is over, now their moves are simply in tune with the lyrics.
2:12 The dancers raise their arms to form a shelter above him. I immediately saw them as a church, where he found his identity, strength in God, and the positive support from believing friends.
2:15 He immediately turns around after he leaves, wanting them to come along, but the dancers are gone. Physically. The important part is that he went through a spiritual change not a physical one, so he is still impacted even though we can't see the dancers anymore. He continues his journey.
2:25 The devil tempts him with an image of a gold head. It looks pretty creepy on its own, and its power and captivation over him is clear in its blinding eyes. It is an idol for humanity, glorification of man, and a sure attempt to corrupt and blind him so he will continue to sin.
2:30 He is unable to see faces clearly after the blinding light, but overcomes this by the next scene.
2:40 He enters a dance room, this part is confusing because the woman is singing Christian lyrics but she's acting a bit coy and fake. We've all encountered people who say one thing and do another. That's the vibe of that room, its phony and he's sensing it. The dancers encircle him and try to lure him in but he's uncomfortable and leaves.
3:25 He is surrounded by lighted signs, most of them are sinful. I think this just means we are mostly surrounded by sinful things realistically, there's comparatively little faith around.
3:40 But in the midst of these signs he finds the stronghold of the dancers in white, who are honest and genuinely happy. The dancers welcome him, and he immediately finds and shares their real love.
3:55 He suddenly rises, literally reaching his highest point. This might signify his baptism, finally a choice to commit to real love.
The dancers continue to enjoy His presence together, raising their hands at the last move to praise Him. He smiles.
This has gotta be the best music video I've ever seen. The dance and music capture each other perfectly.

7. Finalmente llega a un lugar donde es recibido, de nuevos por los hijos de Dios, quienes lo abrazan y lo reciben de una manera increíble, porque el amor de Dios habita en ellos. JUAN 13:35
