    I’m a 77 year old grandmother but when my girls were little we only had a two bedroom house and they shared a bedroom it was very small. I was really diligent with the toys and watched what they played with. Most of their toys went into a toy box that was in their room or some of the big things like Barbie houses were in the closet but I had a whole empty drawer in one of their chest of drawers that I put all of the puzzles, coloring books, Play-Doh all the things like that. We had a rule that they had to pick up their toys twice a day. Once before nap time and once before bedtime. When they were very little I help them but they saw where to put everything and we would find all of the puzzle pieces even if we had to look under the beds and we would have everything put back together twice a day. We had a tiny house like I said and they were only allowed to bring three toys in the living room at a time. So if they wanted to play with some thing else they would take it back and bring something else but not to exceed three. They played really well and we’re happy children and I was a happy mama because my tiny little house stayed neat. Love in Christ together

    Just a little suggestion for Oliver‘s room: you might want to move the plant out of his room, and put a blanket ladder in that spot. You can take the blankets out of the drawer and put it on the blanket ladder. That way it will leave that drawer empty for either clothes or toys that you might want to store in that drawer. I definitelyon trying anything and everything in such a small space. Everything looks beautiful! I love your channel!

    Love your videos! I needed some motivation and positivity today! Highly recommend replacing the 3 cubby organizer with a 9 or 12 cube shelf! Then you can utilize the vertical space as well! And maybe move the 3 cubby over to where the trucks are. That’s what we use for our girls and it’s awesome

  • @Erin-thornycrown7
    @Erin-thornycrown7 3 месяца назад

    If you want to keep the closet mostly toys you may put some cubes or shelves in the section on the left that currently has the trucks on the floor. You could utilize the space above for more toys and the trucks could still be parked below.

    I would do a custom closet system with drawers for clothing that way his closet could be all about his clothing and then you could bring a cube system in to store the toys. The other option would be to keep all his clothing in his dresser and put built-in shelving in his closet to have cubes to store all of his toys.

    You might think of taking out the plant of Oliver’s room to give more floor space for playing. You could also add more shelves in the closet for storage.

    I have 3 kiddos! What we did is the dresser was for clothing. All “quiet” toys were in the closet and we had a cube system in our TV room for toys. Also kept a bin for “growing into” clothing top closet.
    Minimal toys. Also kept a caddy for crafty type toys near kitchen.
    Really tried to keep minimal toys in their rooms when they were young. Main living space didn’t look so nice, but it was temporary.
    Everything looks really nice!!! Always feels great when things are organized.

    Lauren, your children’s’ bedrooms are just beautiful and you have decorated them so sweetly! Regarding storage in Oliver’s room:his closet on the left side has some vertical space with those clothes bars. I wonder if you could get some baskets that could hang from those rods that face forward and tilt a little so that Oliver could access small toys? Also on the top, but those wouldn’t be accessible to him but you could rotate and some little toys could be like new! Also, the corner with the fake plant and the darling child’s chair is prime real estate! I wonder if you could stash them away and put toys there as well. At any rate I love your videos!

    We have a fabric dresser inside our girls' closet. Her room is super tiny too. I have a bookshelf for her books in her room that also holds small toys but mostly her board books. I keep those Target plastic bins inside her closet on top of the dresser to hold her paper books that we can't leave out because she likes to rip the pages. Stackable bins or fold out bins at the top of the closet for blankets or misc things you don't need to leave out for him to reach.

    I think you should install a few more shelves in the closet on the side with all the hanging space (left side when watching the video). I have boys and think that they didn’t need as much hanging space. So their closets are more shelves, with just one bar for hanging. It’s worked out really well so far. I think you could get 3 more shelves in there at least.

    Utilize the vertical space in his closet you aren't using. Get smaller 3 cubby units or some ikea trofast drawer units. Get or make a wooden shelf for his trucks to use the space above or below the trucks to maximize that space.

    So what I’ve been doing is toy rotation but my very lazy version. Lol 😂
    Basically I have two storage totes and I put half of my son’s toys in there and store it in our garage. After a month or so, when I see him starting to get bored with what he has out, I switch them out.
    This actually has helped his playing a ton and it’s manageable. I don’t do the whole “leaving only 8 toys out” lol 😂 but It keeps the amount of toys we have inside the house at bay

But just a bit of R&R this morning for me. I have a fall baby who will be 19 on Friday. Time has flown by but this is my oldest. My other 2 are winter babies, both born in January and only days apart set apart by 12 years but one will be 15 and my daughter will be 3. My boys grew out of their clothes quickly as well, my daughter is slower. She is just now in 2T. She was small and does see doctors about her slow weight gain.
