interesting.... didn't see anything grow outside of the 5x5 during my testing. Guess I might have just got very unlucky as they are so rare (only one in 9 stacks of bone meal, and other tests got none)
Hey I did some experimenting and calculations, and I figured that you could set up a fully automatic warped root farm, but sort out the warped fungi, and you will get a bit less than 1 fungus per bone meal. Then you can grow them all into giant fungi with an average of 2 bone meal each. Even the tiniest of giant fungi has like 40 wart blocks and shroomlight, but usually it's waaay more, and on average it takes 8.24 of those to fill a composter. So if you compost an entire giant fungus, you will get at least, if not much more than 4.5 bone meal for the price of 3 to get a giant fungus the first place. And I haven't even brought up that you can still compost the warped roots you got. Now you just need a super convoluted system with pistons and TNT dupers to make the process afk-able.
recently i just learned on how to make custom datapacks and thanks to your video i got an idea to change nether sprout loot table so it drop itself when destroyed without shears so i can still use shifting floor method. result: a stack of bonemeal give surplus 12 bonemeal. lower than my expectation, but it is a fun experiment
you would block off that spot and couldn't reach the two behind it... and going from 25 to 22 is a 12% drop in efficiency which might... might mean you don't get a net positive on the bone meal, and if you do it would be VERY slow... :/
still works for the fungus, which is the only one I needed for my design to still work at 100% efficiency... which it does... the update made this farm more useful as the most efficient way of getting any of the other nether plants
@@NickolaConagher I personally use melon/pumpkin in my world, it gives the best rates/per block since melons give 4 slices and pumpkins have a high conversion rate. I'd like a more afk'able version. Then I can add hoppers under halfslabs to collect them and shear dispensing system. Pistons become unnecessary. I should try it soon.
it is possible... if you move the redstone signal for the bone meal dispenser down one, you could git some hopper minecarts in there... take those crops to the composter to refill the dispenser... but you would then also either have to set up a system to repair your shears or dispense new ones when they break.

cool concept... but if you gain one bonemeal every 14 and you take 5 seconds to do a cycle you need 70 seconds to gain one bonemeal... cactus grow on average every 18 minutes and has a 50% of giving a bonemeal in a composter, so every 36 minutes a cactus gives you 1 bonemeal also... so more or less this farm is on par with 30 cactus, lets put an extra 10 to make up for the occasional destruction of the cactus block... a 40 cactus farm is by no means hard to do and once done you dont need anything more for it to work.

that would be one way to make this fully afk, but you would also have to make a system to auto-collect the crops and put them in the composter :)
@@EagleEye621 you could put minecart hoppers under each block and a dropper elevator up into the dispenser in the middle but at that point its so expensive you might as well just make a cactus farm for bone meal
@@allijnera you could... or use a quick water stream every couple of passes
@@EagleEye621either way youd need hoppers somwhere and an item elevator to bring more bone meal in
@@allijnera yeah... bring the crops through a composter, and back into the dispenser :)
you can technically modify the farm a bit to harvest flowers too right? yea you can tell i need some dyes..
linked to two dif flower farms in the description... a one-tall and two-tall farm... bone meal on grass spreads out a LOT farther so you really want to build that much bigger platform or you are just wasting bone meal.
so... yes, but you shouldn't... you should build a separate flower farm... :)
@@EagleEye621 as always, commented without watching the video carefully, so i look dumb.. yea im watching that right now. thanks dude keep up the good work
I get all my bone meal from going hunting for fossils in the soul sand valleys! Really efficient! at least for me :p!
that is a pretty good method too :)
@@EagleEye621 yea. Plus I just love hearing the sound of insta mining them!
But skeleton farm
@@ralphy1054 hope you mean my max efficiency skelly farm and not one of those less efficient ones that tell you to put a block on top of the spawner :)
@@EagleEye621 havent seen that video yet, ill check it out!
I was referring to non-spawner mob farms that you either spawnproof or afk in the sky for. (The kind where you can almost completely customize which mobs can spawn with techniques like roof trapdoors, an example that blocks zombies and skeletons from spawning, and blocking some spawning spaces in a specific pattern, an example that blocks spiders from spawning.)
How can we make sure that we get the extra bonemeal every 14 cycles if it gets cycled back into the system
you will see more in storage :)
does anyone think it will remain ? feature or bug ?
idk i think it shud stay, its not too op since the rates arent great. and cant even compete with a regular mob farm (skele bones are way more) but the advantage ?: u get ready made bonemeal, so no crafting bones into bonemeal. but again pumpkin farms and melon farms are faster. so yeah small simple biuld for small gains, i think its fair.
yeah... really is not OP and no reason to break it. Just a cool farm most people won't actually build but some will have fun with :)
@@EagleEye621 agreed!! ...but then again its mojang we are talking about here lol
xD
You spend shears for bonemeal, I guess it's fair
You can use mushrooms instead in other versions. Since you can just auto get bonemeal without player, what's the point.
you can also just hook up my melon/pumpkin farm to composters... which is why I said it may be the most useful, useless machine you might build :) ... really just a fun small project build, but its main use may be as a farm for nether plants (mostly sprouts) with the bonus being the bone meal

RIP.... dam youtube cutting me off... lol
Why don't just use dispensers for shears?
they don't work to harvest crops... :/ ... good thought though, and maybe mojang will make that work in a future version

Hey Eagle I freaking love your content man and I do not mind building it from your video tutorial, but would you consider sharing the world download in future tutorials? I could use the mod litematica and it would be easier for to know how many material I need and also easier to build.
Happy you like it :) ... I do share world downloads with most of my larger builds, but generally not for these smaller ones. Sometimes if you ask on the Discord (links in the description) some people might be able to give you a lighmatica schematic (I don't use that)
@@EagleEye621 Oh I understand, yeah no worries man thank you!
Nice farm! Wouldn't it be more practical if it had some hopper minecarts under the floor?
would be more practical to just hook up my melon/pumpkin to a composter... but this is just kind of a cool concept shown and also in 1.16.2 will be the only way to get the nether crops besides fungus as shifting floors/water doesn't drop them any more
Cool free bone meal
glad you like it :)
So now that we do not need shears for roots, will that flower farm design work better?
nope... this was made before you did... the change (and change back) didn't make any difference
Hey, good video, only 1 thing, you got so much lag, you can create a flat world (and can change the biome if it is necesary)
not sure what happened with this video... my others don't have this problem... but thanks for the tip
Is it possible to put shears into dispensers to harvest automatically, then use water to push it to the side into hoppers?
nope
@@EagleEye621 pity, can't make a fully automatic farm with this then

Why do you have only like 40fps it’s lagging
not sure what happened with this video... sorry
EagleEye621 maybe because you were recording or that you don’t have a gaming computer
Dude, you made a couple of videos about weapons and tools. They were sort of technical, I guess, in a way that people have not approached before and we were excited to learn about some aspect of the game we didn't think about studying before. What the heck is this embarrassing shit? O'rly? Wow, amazing, bro, it's not like low-hanging fruit for 95% of your audience... You can also do this with giant mushrooms

Some Advice here: Try using Game DVR for recording videos on a integrated GPU. works very well for me when I record my videos.

a couple of hopper minecarts... minecart instead of water or even slime piston over ice and supercharge the speed
you are to low (or high) in a mine cart... same with an ice pusher... sprouts have a very short hit box and you need to line up to be able to hit five in a row
DID you turn on like 10 flower farms the screen is quick laggy
not really sure what happened in the video :/

BTW guys, you don't need the shears anymore. So the dispenser works fine. :)
don't need shears? you mean the they didn't do the change they were going to in 1.16.2 and left it the same... meaning you still need them?
@@EagleEye621 I mean that you don't need the shears to get the roots and stuff like that. I'm in 1.16.2 right now and yes they did revert the change that they were going to do, so you can get the fungus by shifting the floor, using a piston, punching it, etc.
