It's a simple rule, audience: NO FLASH PHOTOGRAPHY! Not only is it distracting as hell, but it could be dangerous to the actors if the flash blinds them at a key moment. Going to the theater isn't all about YOU. It's about the entire assembly: cast, crew, and your fellow audience members. Your flash most likely isn't even going to result in a usable picture anyway, which, if you knew what you were doing, you'd know.
I’ve never seen an audience so fragrantly disregard the no flash photography rule. Was there no announcement so people just thought it was open season, or are they just that disrespectful? The theater was also negligent in not having ushers go and stop the photo takers.
I wonder if this was a press night because this seems to have been professionally filmed that’s the only reason I can think of bc they most likely would have been kicked out if they didn’t have permission
I ASM'd a production of straight play Dial M for Murder. The "murdered" man died outside the curtain. He refused to get up and move because he was "dead." Had to pull him by his foot under the curtain and out of sight before he would move.
It is difficult to see half hearted performances. Almost as if they were afraid to be on stage at times. The show is difficult to laugh at so many years later, even watching the wonderful movie doesn't really fit with the humor of today. I give the cast kudos for trying and mostly succeeding. I found the direction to be a bit stifled along with the choreography. The singing was mostly very good and I am glad the audience and the cast had a great time.
I understand that while they are performing THIS show they are also rehearsing a 1930s German musical and their verfremdungseffekt is just seeping into this show. They are certainly distancing their a$$es off here!
You know, it's a little strange that they would sing that last big going into intermission after the Monster breaks loose. Not logical. Should've ended on Victor's line.
The text alone isn't funny, you actually have to capture the timing & quirkiness of the original movie performances to nail the humour. A shame, coz apart from that there's much to be commended about this production, it's quite excellent.

@@kxammii after all this, I actually ended up with the west end version, but I’m so glad people are finding these useful!
This is a helpful aid as it does basically follow the book to a T.. Minus the camera work lol.😊
Wow thank you so much

they got permission to record.
@@xc8bq It was the press soft open for the show.
@@xc8bqeven so, a competent press photographer should know better than to use flash for a show
Ooh this is the best version I’ve heard online! All of the other casts don’t have clean cutoffs, good blending, etc!
Imagine laying still as the dead for an entire musical number
a guy in one of my classes was in a production of Lucky Stiff, he had to pretend to be dead for the entire play

Appears to be lots of young people in this production, guessing Senior class play or some small college. Doubt that it some local little theater.
I think the Monster almost fell at one point and they had to catch him during Ritz. Not planned.
This was fabulous! I'd love to know what company and where this was done. Great costuming as well. Thoroughly enjoyed this all the way through! Kudos!
how did they do the gallow?
"our bits" doesn't quite have the same punch.......
He pointed to the other candle though.
The candle was on the ground at first? Must've fallen down when it turned on the turntable or something.
Why does it go out of focus during the beginning of Puttin' on the Ritz?
Is this a local theatre performance or a high school/college performance
i’m pretty sure it’s a high school production

What are all the flashes it's so distracting and annoying! I would walk out..
People taking photos
Most theaters have a no-flash photography policy but seeing as this is a high school play parents love ignoring etiquette
for sure it is not a Broadway performance, God!!
Because I'm pretty sure its a high school performance. Goddamnit, be nice. They're just kids
