Just watched El Camino Christmas. Allen’s small monologue at the end about his time in the Vietnam War was great. A good piece of acting on his part. I would say Tim has not gone away, he just may not be the special of the day.
Well not bein' the special of the day ain't a bad thing, cause the "Special of The Day" is something no normal human being wants and we're sick of the "Specials of The Day" today.
@@devinrice1632 I just really hate the title of the series. It doesn't work. He constantly uses it to profile people that are still active and no one is wondering what happened to them. This is a good example. Tim Allen has and continues to be around. No one is wondering wtf happened to tim Allen because nothing has happened to him
One thing I've always liked about Tim Allen is that he never tried to be anybody that he wasn't. He came off as a real person and genuine guy that you would love to hang out with. He has a very likable personality. Similar qualities that a president has. A man for the people! LOL
The studio (Pixar), decide to recast him because they thought his voice would be to close to the originals. They hired Chris Evan and i must say, casting Chris as Buzz was the best choice!
Back in Home Improvement, they did not talk about politics but they did in Last Man Standing. After a few seasons, ABC canceled Last Man Standing and then FOX picked it up.
Which just shows the worrying trend how everything *has* to be political nowadays. In the 90s, when Home Improvement went big, you could still make shows and films that were simply fun and entertaining without the slightest political undertones.
If JoBlo thinks hosting a TV show and making enough to support a family of 5 on a single income in the suburbs is blue-collar then I'd hate for you to see how I grew up!
One thing I never noticed was his Tool show was apparently live. Because he would often come home and have to answer to his family about the things that happened on his show that day.
I didn't become a Home Improvement fan until just the past few years, but I've still been a lifelong fan of Tim Allen thanks to Toy Story, The Santa Clause, Jungle 2 Jungle and Galaxy Quest. He was honestly as much of a familiar face (and voice) to me growing up in the 90s as Robin Williams was. Yeah, I wish he did voice Buzz again in the Lightyear movie. At least he got the chance to voice the "real" Buzz once before in the Buzz Lightyear of Star Command pilot movie more than 20 years ago (and it was better than the new movie anyway).
Home improvement, the Santa Claus, toy story! Tim Allen was a big part of my childhood and growing up, I even wanted a pet spider because of his son in jungle 2 jungle.
Tim Allen I saw at standup in Las Vegas, he is no joke is one of the funniest people I've ever witnessed. I will honestly don't care about politics, at the end of the day there is more to a person & life than who they vote for every now and again. Tim just personally resonates with me through his comedy and characters, and that to me is enough to admire him. Just like Tom Hanks my favorite character from Tim is Buzz Lightyear from Toy Story.
I almost thought you had forgotten Galaxy Quest for a minute there. For my money, the best live action film he's been in. It's a role that plays to his comedic strengths as well as giving him the chance to dig a little deeper into a character.
I don't I was the only who enjoyed "Big Trouble". I know the critics didn't like it but it's genuinely good. I'm glad it's shown some love in this video.
Nah, I never liked her, she was the perfect representation of everything wrong with 90s sitcom and film wives. She always came across very arrogant, pretentious and full of herself, especially towards her husband.
i guess the grunting died with 'HOME IMPROVEMENT", he doesn't do it any more in anything else he has done, must have been a trademark with just that character in mind, based on his stand up i believe.
It actually died pretty much by season 2 of the show. It didn't fully disappear, but in season 2 he grunted 12% as often as he did in season 1, and by season 8 he grunted 3 times total in the entire season.
@@toddnolastname4485 this is true. There's an interview where Tim Allen is asked about his character's politics on Last Man Standing. Wasn't a big sitcom fan back then (I preferred X-Files, DS-9, Babylon 5 etc). But as things are right now, shows like "Home Improvement" are a welcome distraction. Pure feel-good entertainment. Food for the soul. The success of "Last Man Standing" clearly shows the unwavering demand. Network TV would still have a much bigger place in people's lives if they produced more fun wholesome shows like this instead of trying to lecture us nonstop with their insane ideological bs. Greetings from Germany :)
Home Improvement gave poor people something to aspire to. Everyone in the US wanted a nice house, gadgets, tools, cars, and a family in a nice part of the country. Most people didn't have that so people watched Tim Allen to live vicariously.
Quite the contrary. In the 90s, the typical American upper middle-class family the Taylor family represents was much more common than today, where many US middle-class families are now much poorer than they were 20 or 30 years ago.
I first saw Galaxy Quest on a Sunday after leaving a weekend of NorWesCon (the Northwest Sci-Fi Fantasy Convention), which was, I think, the perfect time for it. Very relatable in some ways and funny as anything, even with major sleep deprivation. I bought it later and still love it.
I am proud of him. Because people are proud of me. I'm only 100+ as sober now but this is an extremely new thing for me. I've tried the program twice before but.... never like this.
I still have to watch the video but I still think it’s amazing that Tim Allen is the only person ever who has had the number one book, number one TV show and never one movie all at the same time
I have loved Tim Allen since his HBO special Men are Pigs, and watched every thing I could of him for a long time. And i love Thad you mentioned Big Trouble. I love that movie and not enough people have watched it, I understand under the circumstances behind that.
I am a HUGE Buzz Lightyear fan. I thought the Lightyear movie was ok enough, but I was so disappointed that they didn't bring back Tim Allen. To me, he's also the "definitive" Santa Claus, even though he made me think Claus was spelled with an E
Honestly, and this is my personal opinion, I think Disney thought they could get away with casting Evans as Buzz because they were thinking his popularity as Capt. America would pull more viewers in. I dislike it but a lot of times movie studios will pull in whoever is popular at the time instead of who is right for the voice/part.
Tim Richards (He didn't want to be called "Tim Dick") has given me years of enjoyment while being at home. Home Improvement, I was a child. Last Man Standing, I was 26. I don't care about politics, he made me happy.
It's really not so much about politics as it is if you don't fit the mold of a certain collectivist mindset, you're branded as "evil", yeah he has his views (which I support), but he's always thought like that, problem is that that sorta thinking has been branded as "evil" today, when it's the really folks who have done it that are, now I don't want everyone to think like me or Tim, but I don't want any group forcing their ideals on everyone, especially with "The Powers that Be" who are a threat to any normal, sane person regardless of their political beliefs or views, that said Tim has brought joy and happiness to millions of people and that's what really matters.
I don’t like Star Trek. I honestly never got into it. But I checked out Galaxy Quest and I loved it. It helps me kind of understand why people like Star Trek even if I’m not a fan.
Maybe give it another go? I wasn’t into it growing up myself, my dad made me watch the first few episodes of the original series when I was just out of college and I liked it well enough, but never really watched it in my own. But then I fully changed my mind when my husband decided to watch the movies and then Strange Nee Worlds. I REALLY liked Strange New Worlds and I am now watching Next Generation from Season 1. I am 35, started watching again only last year.
Last Man Standing got axed more for it's 6th season contract renewals that were about to happen, not ratings. Increasing costs plus the fact that ABC didn't own and film LMS were the writing on the wall, but ABC killed it's whole Friday comedy lineup and went a different direction sealed the deal. It had little or nothing to do with his political leanings.
I think they just wanted a younger person to be Buzz and picked Chris Evans cause he's Capt. America and they thought that would work. The fact that Tim Allen's Santa show would have been greenlit and probably even filming before Lightyear flopped makes it hard for me to think his politics came into it. Loved the Santa Clause when I was a kid but then I was 19 when the 2nd one came out so never saw it. Tried to watch it with my kid and...nope. I mean it wasn't terrible but wasn't good. Then I tried to watch the 3rd one with my kid and I walked out of the room eventually. That one was terrible.
To your first paragraph, you could be right. However I would think if they had actually wanted him to do the voice work they could have figured it out. You are likely right they wanted someone younger and then didn’t give it enough thought after they decided
I gotta say, Jill in Home Improvement isn’t horrible. She’s a caring mother, loving wife, and accepting to her husband and his antics. She holds the show almost equally to Tim and Randy. I think if she was just a nag the show ultimately wouldn’t have worked, cause it’s because of her mostly that Tim goes to Wilson and finds that he was wrong in his hubris. They also show what a married couple is supposed to be like which is probably the realest depiction on TV ever.
Yeah Tim's wife on Last Man Standing was horrible, seriously when the actress who played his wife on Home Improvement appeared on LMS, there was a HUGE DIFFERENCE between the two.
Honestly, i used to really dislike Tim Allen, but he seems to be a decent hardworking dude. The type of which we need more of in our screens. Not too shabby for some former drug dealer from colorado.
When you say "If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Which is weird because Toolmen are supposed to fix things". If you're a good Toolman, then once you build it. It should never break! 😁
Robin Williams, Jim Carrey, Tim Allen, Eddie Murphy, Adam Sandler, among many others, were who I grew up watching. There are so many movies/shows they are in that I will rewatch til I die. They just are so nostalgic to me.
I can't believe that in 1994, Tim Allen had the highest rated movie (Santa Clause), TV show(Home Improvement), and book on the Bestseller list.
He deserved it.
Yeah I just commented that I haven’t watch the video yet but he’s the only one that’s had them all at the same time, only celebrity ever to simultaneously have all three
I miss 1994..
And now he's a delusional white supremacist Trumpster. However you have to remember that he started out as a drug addict, and got arrested for cocaine possession. He was still locked up in prison just before Home Improvement.
That said everything went downhill starting with Jungle 2 Jungle, and Richer For Poorer.
I still think Galaxy Quest may be the most underrated fun comedy of the 90s and probably one of the finest in the parody genre

I am proud of him. Because people are proud of me. I'm only 100+ as sober now but this is an extremely new thing for me. I've tried the program twice before but.... never like this.
100+ days*
Nothing to do with Tim Allen but goddamn, congratulations!
100 days is nothing to sneeze at ❤ You should be proud of yourself!

Why Tim Allen was back in the santa clause tv series on disney plus
I still have to watch the video but I still think it’s amazing that Tim Allen is the only person ever who has had the number one book, number one TV show and never one movie all at the same time
Absolutely loved Big Trouble! I also enjoyed the first few seasons of Last Man Standing.
Don’t count Tim out yet - Watch for his new sitcom “Shifting Gears”!Picked up by ABC.
Had no idea that Kirstey Alley passed away until I watched ur video. I remember her in cheers and look who's talking 😥
I have loved Tim Allen since his HBO special Men are Pigs, and watched every thing I could of him for a long time. And i love Thad you mentioned Big Trouble. I love that movie and not enough people have watched it, I understand under the circumstances behind that.
I remember that TV show 😍 😄 ❤️ 🤣 😀 ♥️ 😍 😄 ❤️ 🤣 😀 ♥️ 😍 😄 ❤️ 🤣 😀 ♥️ 😍 😄 ❤️ 🤣 😀 ♥️ 😍 😄 ❤️ 🤣 😀 ♥️
I am a HUGE Buzz Lightyear fan. I thought the Lightyear movie was ok enough, but I was so disappointed that they didn't bring back Tim Allen.
To me, he's also the "definitive" Santa Claus, even though he made me think Claus was spelled with an E
Because Allen did not return no one in my household (17) is allowed to or wants to see Lightyear.
"it's Tool Time!"
Lightyear bombing is poetic justice.
I mean, if you’re doing a prequel about a character, it doesn’t always work to get the original actor.
Especially when it’s 30 years later.
The Santa Clause is my favorite Christmas show!
I am 35, started watching again only last year.
hollywood was punishing tim for his free thinking..not acceptable in hollywood if against their narrative
This video was amazing! I love Tim Allen!
Tim Allen is "The Santa Clause", and Buzz Lightyear, no one else, in my opinion.
MERRY XMAS 🌲🌲🌲 ♥♥♥
You got something special
📦🎅🎄........
Honestly, i used to really dislike Tim Allen, but he seems to be a decent hardworking dude. The type of which we need more of in our screens. Not too shabby for some former drug dealer from colorado.
He went to Infinity and Beyond with Wilson.
You got something special
📦🎅🎄........Acknowledge 👆🏻👆🏻🎄
Home Improvement should air on Disney+ dammit!
I think it is on Hulu.
I live in Canada.
Galaxy quest ruled when I was a kid
I remember watching Crazy On The Outside many years ago.... I, myself, did enjoy that film lol
You didn't mention Iron Man (RDJ) as the main villain of the Shaggy Dog
When you say "If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Which is weird because Toolmen are supposed to fix things". If you're a good Toolman, then once you build it. It should never break! 😁
The change of actor for lightyear makes sense. It's not the same character as the toy.
All I want for Christmas is a WTF Happened to Matt Dillon
Robin Williams, Jim Carrey, Tim Allen, Eddie Murphy, Adam Sandler, among many others, were who I grew up watching.
There are so many movies/shows they are in that I will rewatch til I die. They just are so nostalgic to me.
Tim looks like Adam Driver in that mugshot.
Well, I still like Tim Allen. He is an interesting guy and I liked his comedy style
It actually messes with me how often Tim Allen and Spencer Breslin starred together in movies.
Good stuff!
My favourite video yet😂. Knew a bit about his life but not that much
