- On April 21, 2019 this 737-8EQ BBJ flew into Van Nuys Airport (VNY) from Tokyo (HND), and put on quite a display with the brilliant blue stripped livery. After completing customs, the BBJ relocated to BUR shortly thereafter. Enjoy the footage!
"GREAT" catch Phillip that is one amazing looking aircraft & I'm glad you caught it & loved the AgustaWestland 139 at the beginning 👍
Ed Whisenant Thanks Ed! VNY never disappoints.
Beautiful paint scheme on that one! Love it!
mytmousemalibu Thanks! I saw some other videos where it looked like this one had a different blue stripes paint scheme not that long ago. This one definitely appears more flashy.
Imagine owning a plane that can take you and ALL your friends and family from Tokyo to the West Coast, insane
Logan OConnor Life goals haha. Pretty crazy how far a 737 can go without the weight of 180 passengers and lots of rollaboards.
@@LoveJT8D Yeah crazy, especially with the extra fuel tanks you can get in the belly storage
@@LoveJT8D Do they have modified engines on this plane? I cant get around how stock 737 engines and wings can fly that much fuel weight
@@pilerks1 There's many variations on the CFM-56 engines with different thrust ratings. After looking through Wiki, my bet is that this aircraft as the latest CFM56-7B27 engine variant with the 27,300lb thrust rating. In comparison, the earlier CFM56-7 series goes all the way as low as 19,500lb thrust rating.
@@LoveJT8D So you're thinking this 737-800 frame uses 737-900er wings and engines? It doesn't sound out of the question, but I'm trying to figure how much weight alone in fuel it is to fly across the Pacific with that plane.
Super awesome, thanks for posting
Really nice video my friend! Great capture!
Skylite Productions Thanks! VNY is full of surprises.
Thanks for the Video of our Aircraft Landing in Van Nuys. Really appreciate your quality work. N737M
Glad you liked the video! I always attempt to put a little soul into filming aircraft. It was a pleasure capturing N737M. Such a beautiful bird.
Great catch of the 737 mate! Love that livery. THUMBS UP :)
Abhijit Paul Thanks! It really is a cool livery.
Great video, man! I love this livery.
RyanBomar Thanks! The owner made an excellent choice on the livery. Always nice surprises coming into VNY.
beautiful paint and wonderful video.
Beautiful paint! Great video! Really long range too.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed the vid. It's amazing what a 737 can do without a lot of extra weight.
Excellent travail de spotter...
I think this is the first video I have seen of this airplane in the States. Usually is flying all over the world. Great "new" livery as well.
Yeah the livery is very lively compared to the previous one. Definitely a nice upgrade.
Beautiful paint and impressive range for a 737. Given the amount of cabin space, that must have been a looooong flight.
Yeah I'm sure a flight that long can feel even more long in a 737 cabin, but I'm sure that's all made better with the VIP configuration (couches, beds, no overhead bins taking up space).
BBJ 737's can be fitted with a number of auxiliary fuel tanks, giving it a range of over 6500nm.
I’m sure it’s decked out with luxury private jet style seating inside.
Is this privat owner.? Beautiful.. and good cameraman 😊
I believe it is privately owned but not 100% sure
A few week ago at KPDK I flew a plane and landed it took it off and taxied
Excellent, and thank you. Where were you standing to get this video?
ea6a This was along the fence on Saticoy? I think that’s the street name. The street to the right hand side of runway 16.
@@LoveJT8D Thank you. Saw Arminta Street sign.
Looks like 737 max winglets shape and engines
That is some range
somapusher Most definitely. Makes a big difference without the weight of 180 passengers plus luggage.
Do they add fuel tanks where the cargo hold used to carry luggages?
@@mediacoregroupph yes
Boeing offers a number of aux fuel tanks for the BBJ 737NG models, giving it a max range of about 6500nm for the -800 BBJ and 7000nm for the -700 BBJ. The -900 BBJ has the least range, at about 5600nm. Still plenty of potential though.
@LoveJTB were you on a ladder or in the bed of a truck to view over the fence? Thanks! :)
For this video, I was standing on the roof of my SUV. A little trick, take foam pipe insulators, place them on each side of your luggage rack then lay a slab of wood over it. Cheap, effective platform. Actually gets you higher up than a truck bed.
Is that an NG with the first iteration split (scrimitar) WL?
mediacoregroupph Definitely an NG but not sure about the specific category of scimitar winglets. Maybe someone can jump in with more info.
I figured it out myself. It is not the Advanced Technology Split winglet found in the max. Thanks
@@mediacoregroupph Boeing started offering the split winglet retrofit for all existing 737NG's and for new aircraft being assembled starting in mid 2014. Other improvements are LED lighting upgrades and engine modifications.
Van Nuys is not a customs entry port. How do they clear customs at arrival?
According to the iflyvny website, VNY does offer CBP services for private aircraft coming in from abroad, mostly between 8am-Midnight. I think that's the main reason why this aircraft first landed at VNY, then continued on to BUR shortly thereafter.
VNY has customs and the hours are quite long now.
No reversers!
Maybe, if it does have reversers, they didn't use them...
737s can fly that far?
Probably with one refuel stop in Honolulu, HI or Anchorage, AK
BBJs can.
