You know the crazy part of all this was I worked for McAfee from 2005 until 2011. The insider notes we got were SOOO much worse than what was portrayed in the media. You missed one of the biggest issues we had to deal with for a long time. In 2005 John and the company McAfee were hit with insider trading. It was some Enron style sh!t. We were locked down to a limited amount of direct hire employees at 5k in the charter and there were SO many other restrictions. However, the stories of his parties were immortalized in hush hush water cooler conversations and I so wish I could have partied with him. Damn, there were stories of him doing lines of coke off a prostitute's a$$ at his desk. They seemed so outlandish and unbelievable, at the time, for a totally straight laced 28yo guy just out of the military. Now, I just look at it like WOW it had to be the drugs.

Generally, RUclips has become the home of many talented documentary makers and I'm eating all of it up.
This story is five years old. Been covered by Maxim magazine and many others. Basically had to do an internet search. Not original content. I’m sure there’s hundreds of RUclips videos dated two years ago. Just did a search, yeah, there’s hundreds over 3 YEARS old.

Roommate chaperoned 2 of them because she's fluent in Spanish, it's a free vacation if you're willing to watch a bunch of middle school girls at the same time.

Adding more context: the youngest girls were about 9 but luckily the subject changed quickly (I was in high school). It was three girl scout troops from across the US all traveling together but it was actually so much fun. We went to Ambergris Caye too (where the murder happened) but did not see that house (I didn't know what part of Belize the murder happened until J Aubrey said Ambergris Caye and I instantly rewinded). Everyone is so nice in Belize and it's a truly beautiful place. Fun fact: we also saw people who belonged to the Belize Amish community on the same boat ride.
This video is an emotional rollercoaster. One minute you can't do nothing but hate the guy and the next you are laughing your ass off at him.
I think that people like John McAfee and Terry Davis are going to be the stepping stones to a better and more intelligent society.

Say what you want about the guy, he lived one of the weirdest and wildest lives I've ever heard of. I bet it was crazy to sit down and hear all of his insane stories, most of which he probably took with him to the grave. Trash fire of a human but a fascinating one none the less.
I like how j aubrey doesn't take sides when there is not enough evidence. I just watched the fps Russian video and other internet documentarians would have said "yeah he killed the guy" or "oh yeah she destroyed the lab, or he r**ed her". He gives both sides of the story credit when there is no evidence but also is not afraid to throw the blame on someone when there is enough evidence. which I respect. Plus your pleasant voice and upbeat and down to earth way of reporting these events makes the stomach wrenching stories and horrible stories, such as McKamey manor, stomach able. So good job you have hit the bullseye of content.

Mr. McAfee truly 'went for it.' First, building up his own business into a world-renowned brand among computer antivirus software, then just living off his earnings. I can't stand with some of those things done while living off said millions, but only in some instances because I still don't understand the whole picture... and never will 'get' it all.
Truly a fascinating shortform look into his life.

I only remember McAfee as a virus detection software that did absolutely nothing yet kept me from doing the most basic things on my computer, increased the boot time, and COULD NOT BE DELETED from my PC unless I did a full wipe of Windows and started new.
Thankfully the newer iterations of McAfee have gotten better. But yes, that program was a nightmare and caused sooooooo much lag.
Oh SO goddamn true! McAffee AND Norton AV were plagues to be avoided at all cost if you wanted a PC that would run faster then a Commodore 64 in the 2000s. I'd rather have the virus, please and thank you.

Great job J Aubrey on this documentary even though it's 3 years old! I think McAfee's life shows not only HIS insanity but how some people manage to rope in and use the world's insanity to reach dangerous heights usually - eventually - running into disaster. Honestly he sounds like all he did was make himself and everybody around him miserable. Feeding into his paranoia like that and making it worse with so many drugs really did not seem like it made him happy. The more he took the worse he felt, and the worse the paranoia got. But he had the money to prevent anybody from helping him. Everybody just enabled him instead. So then he started lashing out at others so they could be as miserable as he was.
