I was lucky enough to be living right opposite Bargoed Station between 1999 and 2008 saw the 37s daily. Miss the sound of them thrashing up and down the valley and past my old place well trying to sleep after a long 12 hour shift. Amazing sound though
An excellent reminder of events that are now just memories. I especially liked the Bridgend van train - it's a difficult train to photograph due to its timings plus the fact that it often leaves the Ford engines works early. Another difficult one to photograph is the Freightliner train from Barry Docks. It can leave the docks up to two hours early and then sits at Cadoxton awaiting its path.
South Wales Police had Volvo 850s then. Ooh, fancy. * There was nearly an incident with that car that pulled onto the verge pulling out just as the Scania was moving off :D
They are noisy, ugly little buggers, and I love them!! I can watch them on the Rhymney Valley Line, from my window, and will be sorry to see them replaced.
Brilliant, Mike - appropriate super. Comments to !! - Ian 👍👍
More to come soon, it just takes time editing ( but enjoyable too)

I was also fortunate to have the time, being retired, to make these videos, which I can now share on YT.

37411 was painted in green then? I never knew that. It was always rather unreliable in EWS days, as I recall.
