I bet I've watched 50 videos on throwing a cast net. You're the best teacher I've seen tkx. Friend I will be praying for you. I lost my mother and brother within 3 months so I've been there too hang in there
Every video that I've ever watched makes throwing a cast net complicated as hell. Yours is the easiest and less complicated no throwing the net over your shoulder getting wet or sticking it in your teeth kudos to you, my friend!
Tough 2023 Ken! Bless your heart man!! Dang!! This is such a great follow-up to part 1. Six straight nice throws… no “oops let me try that again.” Some levity, I wouldn’t be offended if you dubbed in the cartoonish “yayyyy” every time you throw the net. 😂 Anyway, this is outstanding instruction and I’ve subscribed and will probably wear out my shoulder throwing a net now. Thanks for the hard work Ken. Good luck with your channel!!
We are getting ready to move close to the N C coast....we lived in the Wilmington area for a few years and I learned to throw the net, not great, but good enough to catch bait, a few shrimp and mullet. Your technique is one of the most simple I've seen. Being 79 years old, I need simple, I'll practice some before we move so I can be ready for the fall run. I be a new subscriber. I'm very sorry about your losses and will pray for God's grace and peace in your life. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and your sorrows. Blessings!
Thank you for a great video. I will be trying your way tonight. Hopefully it works for me as I'm not good any other way I've tried. So sorry for all of the challenges and losses you've faced recently, take your granddaughter out fishing, could be what you both need. Tight lines and God bless!
Thank you for this vidio. You make it simple.God bless you in this time of sorrow my heart goes out to you and i will remember you in my prayers.Thank you
Thank you for sharing this technique. And thanks for sharing about your losses. Very sorry for the extensive waves crashing upon you seemingly all at once. Thank you for showing us that there is a way to keep your head up and swim towards smoother seas. God bless.
I think putting the leads in the pocket might be even more beneficial because you could use the off hand for added momentum and balance. Gotta give this a try. Thanks! I’m 73 and thinking this is a better way to throw.
Best instructional video seen so far especially the hand angles and release explanations. Other videos dont really explain that key part. God bless and Take Care. Subscribed.
I am so sorry for your loses. I lost my cousin who was as close as a brother and my fishing partner since we were little kids. This year I lost my buddy who I had from right after high school and was the best man at my wedding. Dont know what I'd do if I lost my wife. I'll be saying a few prayers for you. I'm over 73 and been making rods since I was a kid so I look forward to those videos when they come out. God Bless
First? 5:34 sorry for your family's losses. All i have left of mine is my daughter so, i know how hard it is to adjust. God bless you all! I really like the method. I am fused c2-c6, L3-S1, and i have compression fractures at T2 and T8. I needed something easy without a lot of twisting and this is the best i saw Hands down! Also? I am pretty much a novice but, fishing from a boat is all i got left for recreation and i love fishing! I have a problem though. I have thrown for days trying to get this to work but, I have the same issue every time. As i am looking at the net as it lands? The left side is WIDE open but, the right side is always shut. Like 1/2 of the throw works and the other 1/2 is a complete failure. I know you are busy and this video has been out a bit but i thought i might try to ask you if you had any ideas why this is. I'm at my wits end!! So frustrating! Lol i know I'm doing something wrong but i do exactly as i see it in the video. Driving me nuts! I an throwing an 8ft Old Salt net. I am ordering a 6ft right now. Hopefully you see this and can offer a couple hints or tips. Don't be afraid of telling me i must be doing 1 part or another wrong. I have a thick skin! ;)
The six foot net will be easier for you to throw the 8 foot net may be a little to heavy for you to follow thru completely especially with your back issues Now days I only throw six ft nets because of my bad shoulders if it’s not opening all the way your probably releasing to soon try releasing a second later instead of releasing in front of your chest release in front of the opposite shoulder. Again it may just be the 8 ft may be just a little to much weight with you back problems
Your a good teacher. Thanks for taking the time to show your method. I’m Sorry for your losses and believe that you will have peace about this eventually even though it would seem impossible right now.
This video lesson is great, with some pancakes right out of the box, wow. I read an article advising soak your new nets in fabric softener, rinse, and dry before casting. Have you ever done that? You make it look unnecessary. Thoughts? I hope you are having smiling memories of those who have moved on.
I used dish soap to soak my nets to keep them clean and last longer nets become brittle after awhile the dish soap would preserve them but only a few drops in a bucket but I never hung them to dry
Great video Ken thanks for doing this. Gee that’s great throwing. I use your method plus I have a lot of success with Ryan Moody Fishing using his method worth a look. I use a 7ft net I get enough baits with that 😊
Ken, when you say you don't use the one hand trick when you are recreational fishing, what do you do with that portion of the net you put in your pocket (left hand)? Do you just hold it in your hand? Do you try to spin it to your right at all? Looks like you just pretty much hold it in place.
10ft is excessive as you said …my 8ft does the trick I can cast that sucker constantly for 5-6 hours straight …with maybe 1-2 breathers ….i could imagine hitting a bait school with a 10ft and cleaning that out 😂…I don’t do the method you show …I used to …when I… first started that was the method a guy showed me ….he always said to hold the belt …it’s a really awesome way to throw a net…especially if you want really basic …now I’m exploring different ways :3
I will have to say you helped me more with your instructions, I was able to open my 6ft net the 3rd time I tried your one hande method.I will probably forget by the time I get to go . I truly am sorry about all of your misfortune in your family. Hope you the very best in future. Thanks Lord Bless you.....bsm Ps: you have photos of you spining rods?
The triple load is far superior to your method since it doesn't leave an "ice cream cone" finish, ie half the net doesn't open especially on the 10 footer.

First view.Great video👍🏽
I'm struggling finding a way to throw my 7 foot net with my Titanium shoulder issue, not having much luck
These are the easiest ways I know
The only thing I can think of is you may have to drop down to a 5 or six foot net because they are a little lighter
I dropped down to a 7 ft thinking that would be ok but after a couple of throws I'm done@@KenLoveday70
