I am totally digging the fact that its NOT a strange girl fitting in a normal school, but in another school of other misfits and weirdos. Everything comes on the board where anyone can equally be a friend or a rival, and the scenarios will always be out of the ordinary. Can't wait.

Fascinating how different Wednesday's smile is between actresses. With Christina Ricci's Wednesday, it feels as if the mere motion and the positive emotion behind it is so foreign to Wednesday that doing so feels like an unnatural being trying to mimic humanity. With Jenna Ortega's Wednesday, you get the feeling that smiling and the feeling of happiness that accompanies it comes naturally to her - but only when she's exercising her sadism.
I just hope they cover how she decides who deserve it and who doesn't.

I'm holding out high hopes for this one. Love Tim Burton's style and Wednesday is one of my favorite television characters of all time, so Netflix better not mess it up.
I doubt they mess it up. If nothing else it'll at least be OK.
This has been a passion project of Burton's for years. He also has the clout to ensure he maintains a lot of creative control so hopefully Netflix hasn't meddled with it. Trailer looks promising and I think the casting is strong. Looking forward to it. :)

I was a little apprehensive but this looks decent. As long as they keep the healthy internal family dynamics and don't mess it up. The best part of the Addams Family was how much they all loved each other and it was the rest of the world that was the problem. Writers have a tendency to go for character conflict between main characters rather than external so it will be interesting to see how they handle that.

What I was saying is that I hope they don't rely on inter-family conflict because they're lazy and that's a common writers way of moving plot forward and getting things to happen rather than having external things happen, (Like the poor dudes who got piranha-ed, She said that only SHE can Torture her brother, thus implying a strong sibling bond while ALSO implying that they mess with each other which is perfect). And yeah in the movies they're eating arsenic and sword fighting and electrocuting each other so it makes sense that she doesn't really know how to play nicely with others or have a proportional response. The Addams' are functionally immortal, though they never go into detail as to how. We'll see how they handle the tone of it when it comes out.
So YES a major strength of the Addams Family movies is how much the Addams' love each other and then the comedy comes from how insane they are and how their insanity interacts and affects the world around them. Translating that to the show will be very important to not pissing off/ alienating hardcore fans.

But if I remember correctly, while the Ricci films had a lot of jokes about Wednesday murdering and harming people, they never actually showed her inflicting lifelong disabling injuries on other characters, with blood flowing out of their genitals.

The Addams family has always had such a clever and quirky sense of humor without needing to be vulgar. Thats why adults and kids both enjoyed it. We need more Addams family content for the new age. The animated movies were a great start and this is a great way to keep that momentum going.

If they nail the weirdness and macabre attitude of the family and the fun. I think it's gonna be a great series with their dynamic! Cast looks on point, looks promising.
I disagree only with the cast looking on point. Luis Guzman looks TERRIBLE next to Catherine Zeta Jones. I despise this thing of constantly casting men who don't look as good as their female counterparts. Raul Julia and Angelica Huston made sense, this is insulting. How is he Gomez? Ridiculous.

This is hands down a masterpiece if not one of the best series Jenna Ortega acting and style skills and everything was so perfect really enjoyed it. Hope they release season 2 soon as this is a masterpiece. Definitely recommended to anyone to watch.

Jenna Ortega is a really good fit for Wednesday, which is saying something considering Christina Ricci set a very high standard.

This is encouraging. I was scared they’d make the Addamses less healthy and loving. There’s a tendency to do that in shows, which is fine, but one of the things that set the Addams apart (and one of the ways they’re “weird”) is exactly how loving, caring, supportive, and healthy they are as a family.
But from this, it seems like they’re keeping that. If so, there’s hope for the series
Never doubt the talent of Tim Burton.
Even with his worst works, Tim always brings out such creativity.

On the one hand, Goth/Dark aesthetics with a lighter comedic tones are right up his alley. Absolutely his style. And that’s what Addams Family is. It’s also true he is can portray good, healthy families (like Charlie’s family in Chocolate Factory, the family in Dumbo), and even the ghosts having adopted Lydia at the end of Beetlejuice.
But on the other hand, and largely influenced by his own family history, he often also depicts less healthy, and more conflicted families. Edward Scissorhands, Lydia’s birth family in Beetlejuice, Willy Wonka’s relationship with his father, the family in Frankenweenie, the family in Dark Shadows, and Vincent’s family in Vincent, are all examples of that. So it being him made me apprehensive that he could take the Addamses in that direction.

Couldn't have said it better - they are the perfect example of a healthy family. The parents love and respect each other, they are financially stable and responsible, and they encourage each other to explore their talents and gifts. They never squash their children's curiosity or undermine their intelligence or decision-making.

The Addams Family
During pre-production of The Addams Family (1991), Burton was considered and approached to direct the film by producer Scott Rudin, but was unable to accept the position due to his commitment to Batman Returns. As for now, she's very far from that top. The Fallout is her only good role so far. In the other projects she was either miscast (X) or completely forgettable (Scream). Judging by the trailer, she doesn't look exactly natural in this role either.

*Wednesday actually was the perfect season for me, just by looking from the first film I could see she was obviously gonna bring something more. I always liked the colour black, just wasn't my favourite, but deep inside it's my favourite. Going into a school that I thought would be challenging, but actually by my older years I realised, I lived in the correct city, even though there was nothing really there much, I still found it mysterious. My last year wasn't just inspired by Wednesday, also the life of Wednesday. I always saw monsters in forest school and no I wasn't imagining it. I asked my friend to sneak in, I learned spying skills from Wednesday. Snook in and pretending a guy to be my date. I actually liked Someone, else. I never got caught, it was not any animal you see, it was like a bear, fox ears, and mixed up, and no I'm not lying. Wednesday has truly inspired me, and always will*

Okay let's calm down now, masterpiece is a bit over used. Especially for a anything coming from Netflix. This looks like shit.
I truly love Jenna Ortega and Tim Burton, but I feel like no one's giving Alfred Gough & Miles Millar enough credit than they deserve. Yes, they're mostly famous for creating 'Smallville', 'Into the Badlands' and 'The Shannara Chronicles', but they helped write the show. Such a shame how underrated they really are as show creators.

There's only so many ways you can convey Wednesday's monotony, but Jenna Ortega manages to do it in a way that's all her own and I don't find myself comparing her to Christina Ricci when I watch her. She's done such a great job.
We are looking at different ages, which helps. The funny thing is that in the comics and on the original TV show, she was a very happy child. I think you meant "melancholy" not monotony.

I am glad they didn’t go the route of the new movies and made them “Kinda creepy but not really”. Wednesday feels like a true sociopath in the making and I love it
The trailer at least has a really good tone, it’s “kinda creepy but also fun.” She’s swinging swords, crushing spiders, doing creepy dance routines. I think Tim Burton was a good choice for this

I can't help but feel the idea for this series came from the old RUclips series, Adult Wednesday Addams. The creator of that wanted to make a series but was refused. You should look it up. The woman who did it had to stop making them (they were going to sue) and remove her content about it, but others have shared them all.

Omg so excited. I hope they don't screw this up. So sick of shows looking promising, then actually coming out, and sucking cause they veer so far away from what seemed to be depicted! I don't know Jenny O., but I'm thinking she will make a great Wednesday - and i grew up with Christina Ricci's portrayal, so the bar is high! - Like everyone else is saying, I too hope they keep the family vibe - that they all love each other, and everyone else are the weird dysfunctional ones!
Also thrilled it's done by Tim Burton! Can't go wrong with that (hopefully lol)!

They watched her channel for 2 years, saw the popularity of her Adult Wednesday videos, and took it away from her b/c they saw profit value in the character Wednesday having her own show.
Classic Hollywood. Throw a big name director behind it, hire some young new writers who don't know the Addams Family or have any idea what comedy is to come up with some scripts, and get a fresh faced Hollywood actress in the role.
If you can't tell from the preview here, the writing is very dry, and filled with forced puns. Not even anything witty. "Wanna take a stab at being social?" "I do like stabbing". That's a forced pun, and it's cheap humor, b/c nobody their age is going to use the word 'stab' to mean "try". It was a lazy set up for Wednesday to say something dark. I don't like lazy writing, and that's literally all I heard from start to finish. You couldn't recognize it? Are you young and inexperienced to understand the difference between good writing and lazy writing?
Heroes was like that, and Life on Mars. They had potential. I usually only watch the first couple of episodes and when it changes theme too much or too many sub plots make them stupid.

If a youtuber makes videos about a flying mouse and then expects after getting a million views they will be unable to keep the page up when Hollywood watches it. The creators of Wednesday wrote a script long time ago for this show way before. And when they see interest they will take advantage. I have the songs from " Wednesdays Child" and should also try to bring attention to this theme. If I want to, muhahaha
Jenna Ortega is a magnetic force when it comes to her acting performances. Wednesday Addams is such an iconic and memorable character, so I believe Jenna Ortega will do justice to her character as a whole, given the fact that Jenna has already been hailed as this current generation’s ‘Scream Queen.’
She was pretty lackluster in Scream 5 (which wasn't very good to start with)..
Yet she looks pretty fit for the role here.
Sorry but any list that already includes Bruce Campbell (...not kidding) simply cannot get any better....

I honestly think Jenna is the perfect person to be cast as Wednesday. She has horror movie acting experience, the talent, and the piercing eyes. She resembles Christina Richie in the way that their large eyes are their strongest feature.

For those questioning the casting of Gomez Addams, his look is more authentic to the comic strip character. The look was changed for the tv & film adaptions. All of them are great & it's only fair we give this actor a chance instead of judging based on a few seconds of footage. 💜
John Astin will forever be the best Gomez but Guzman probably won’t be too bad

Luis Guzman is a really good actor, i don’t have doubts that his performance wont be good.
Even still, most did not read the comic strip and watched the mini series and multiple movies, but its this directors take on it, so it really doesn't matter. I think it limits what can be done because the father is so off putting from most of the other content regarding the Adams family.

Right, I just finished watching this today. This was the best series I've ever watched in my life. I give it 200/10. This is a must watch show. You will not skip a single second or get bored in any of the episode. Except for the fact that I was a bit disappointed in ep 6 (was to do with the plot) everything else was amazing. Recommended 😊👍✨
