    Excellent information, especially for new officials. Please have all participants on your zoom on mute though until they want to say something, very distracting.

    When you call an offensive foul, do you need to report it in the foul reporting area? I've seen many referees just signal the foul where it happened, but not report it a second time in the foul reporting area.

      @OfficialsInstitute  Год назад +2

      The proper mechanic is to always go to the foul reporting area to report the foul, even in offensive fouls. Many officials get lazy and just take a step or two forward but that is incorrect.

    Extremely good video, the instructor was marvelous. The one participant with the brush kept banging it against his face was distracting. Maybe he should be considerate and MUTE his mike!

      This is an old video and we hope we have gotten better at moderating and muting distracting participants. Thanks for watching.

    Information given is good and laid out well.. The need for comments from the others.. Is Zero, none and poor. I some instance flat wrong. Eliminate the non- knowledge participants from any video.
    And the guy combing its hair ?? Seriously... I didn't make it to the end just on the non-sense.. Otherwise info would of been good.

      Thank you for your feedback. We are planning on creating a series of videos focusing on 3 person (and 2 Person) mechanics.

    Good day just watching the video I believe that in FIBA the referee who makes the call should rotate to the opposite side of the table, please advise

    • @OfficialsInstitute
      @OfficialsInstitute  3 года назад

      This is based on NFHS mechanics. For FIBA differences check with your local associations.

    Great job! I’ve added this to my pre-game routine. It usually plays the morning of games.

    What about plays with secondary defenders? AFAIK, plays with secondary defenders should go to the Lead. The college and IAABO mechanics books let the Lead have plays with secondary defenders.

    • @OfficialsInstitute
      @OfficialsInstitute  4 года назад

      The NFHS does not address secondary defenders and how they should be managed. The officials manual states clearly that typically an official should rule fouls in his/her PCA. If you officiate your primary and expect your partner will do the same, situations that require help, or double whistles with 2 different signals, should happen less frequently.

      @@OfficialsInstitute This is definitely something that the next version of the mechanics manual should address. If not, this is something to cover in intermediate-level training materials or classes.

      Every state is different in the requirements of age for high school officiating, however, there is always rec ball and little kid ball that uses younger officials can work. Find someone you know that is currently an official and ask them how to get involved.

      You don't want to be reffing high school games with the possibility of players being older than you. Start out in youth ball and as you get into your 20s the high school kids will have more respect for you.

    Too many people talking. Better video if only one person commentating.
