4.8 ppg on 36% from the field, 27% from 3 and at a small 6’2 guard only 67% from the line on a sub .500 team in the softest conference in college basketball, I’m all for parents wanting to set their kids up for success but this is just a pure handout and it’s disappointing, Bronny could probably be NBA ready with a few more years under his belt but LeBron is pushing his kid into a situation he’s not ready for just so he can “play with his son” like we care at all or that makes him better than Jordan lmao

Preach brother! I agree. Good kid but his time is not now. LAL will not play for a title. This all about checking off the bucket list for Lebron. @@cmcwilliams120 that’s what I’m saying I think Bronny is a good kid and nothing against him whatsoever as a person it’s not his fault his dad is who he is, and no hate toward Bron cause he just wants to help his kid the most he can, but from a logical perspective I don’t see this going well, Bronny will probably be on the lakers until Lebron calls it quits then will either be reduced to a limited 8-10 min role or be out of the NBA entirely unless he can turn one of the few things he is good at to an elite high level. Cause right now he’s not elite in anything and at 6’2 he’s going to need something to fall back on as “his card” (Steph’s shooting, Kyrie dribbling ability, jrues defense)

@@theohsyns So if your a business and 2nd round picks are getting traded for 2 mill in cap space room, and you see bronny james on the board, why would you not take the opportunity to take a shot on someone who's gonna generate millions in ticket sales and jersey sales. The thing people don't understand is that Bronny has had people marketing him since he was 12, and adults on the internet critiquing and viewing him for years now, through it all he's handled him self well enough to now capitilise on that opportunity when he's an adult with an increase in draft stock due to marketing, and now people want to judge him for nepotism. IMO he seems like a great 2nd round pick opportunity, and I think having to have media follow you everywhere you play since 12, warrants an increase in draft stock in comparison to other 2nd round picks.

Being that he is a project allowed the Lakers to take him at 55. And the person who missed out would have been picked #61. In that case you're better off being a free agent and try to catch on with a team where you think you fit in depth wise. Someone out there has worked their entire life to go pro in the NBA. Maybe they’re from a small town in the south, no indoor courts within 30 miles, and they practiced everyday to make a local low level competitive league adjacent to high school. Then they got better, grew to a solid playing height, and eventually played a full four years in college with good, but not superstar stats. This was a D1 school but they didn’t make the tournament. This person is hoping to get drafted somewhere in the second round so they can prove themselves one more time and make it to the pinnacle courts in the sport.
And then Bronny James gets drafted.
How’s that for a narrative Rich? That’s who it matters to. I care about that person infinitely more than the son of the best player to ever play, sorry not sorry. Makes a mockery of the spirit of competition and the spirit of “it doesn’t matter who you are, where you came from, what matters is how you play”.

Well with the NFL you have to go all-in on a year-to-year basis when you get the chance, but yeah, what's lost in a lot of this is that LBJ is 40. It would be one thing if he were 10 years younger and the Lakers were looking to get another 5-6 top years out of him and trying to keep him around . I mean they weren't going to get much in this draft anyway, let alone in the second round, but besides all that it's not like they can trade the kid with other assets to get something better. They're stuck with him as long as LBJ is around. It's a move that gives nothing back -- even keeping LeBron happy and around is sort of pointless these days when you need a major rebuild.

Also, just because nepotism happens doesn't mean we're open to seeing more. If LeBron James Jr. were as accomplished as a prospect as Ken Griffey Jr., Barry Bonds, Marvin Harrison Jr., the NFL Matthews family, etc., we'd all be excited. Instead, our reactions are more along the lines of "Here go LeBron and Rich Paul again..."

Sometimes, though not too often, this show will miss the mark. Ohtani situation being a recent example. Absolutely the case here too. Listen, the Lakers could have signed him undrafted then. You don't take a player who doesn't deserve to be selected overs who do and earned it. That's who cares. Those guys who battled for every minute, overcame who knows what, leaders a team.
This is all about power from LeBron and had it all set up. It's also nepotism at its finest. What's next, bench a couple guys deeper in the rotation for Bronny to play? Maybe start him because LeBron says so? Folks, there's a reason Reddick was hired as HC.. he is by title but not in reality. LeBron is HC, GM and player and it's simply wrong. This isn't "family business" it's pro sports. The sooner LBJ retires, the better.

The 'More Likely' question will be....if the Lakers are struggling....and especially if Brony is getting any playing time at all.."What are you sacrificing to satisfy LeBron, by realizing the 'father & son on the court', fantasy? Wouldn't we be better off doing (x,y,z...etc.)" I don't think the 'Why aren't you playing Brony?' will be a loud criticism.

This pick is great for NBA history and the bank accounts of ESPN, TNT, TBS, ABC, and NBA Network. This is not about nepotism, it’s about the all mighty dollar 💵! The LAL are the Dallas Cowboys of the NBA. Oversell under deliver. This is a great marketing strategy for the NBA and LAL! 💰💵💰💵💰

I really do see your point, and I agree with most of it, but in every other sports league in the country LeBron strong-arming his unskilled kid into a sweetheart contract is called 'tampering'. That's a whole lot different than 'having a word with the manager'.

@@carlhicksjr8401 technically no major American sports league has rules against what LeBron did. The tampering youre referring too comes down to players and teams having unauthorized contact while under contract or in the limited availability period.

@@carlhicksjr8401Oh come on, calling him “unskilled” is just some bullshit you’ve heard others say online. Is he some incredible talent? No, but he’s hardly unskilled or bad when compared to other late second rounders.

Who cares? Those who ALL THEIR LIVES were told that hard work, and merit would get you far in life.
Who knew that it was really your last name.
Watching all you so-called "sports" people gloss over someone cutting the line, shows you how far sports has fallen.
    Joke.

Bronny was a top 20 HS recruit who had a major injury. Why is everyone acting like a top HS recruit who got hurt and didn't produce getting drafted in the 2nd round is a shock? Bronny has potential. That's all you can ask for with a late 2nd round NBA draft pick 🤷‍♂️

Takes just 20 seconds to google Jay Scrubb on Wikipedia: tore his ACL in October last year, and was waived out of his two-way contract by the Celtics. So that's why he is out of Basketball and obviously, it is a bad look to crack jokes about a guy who has a serious injury and his team just got rid of him, instead of helping him to get back.

I actually feel a little bad for the kid. 9:00 When have you ever seen that expression after someone just got drafted? He knows what's coming.
Rich says who cares because it is a late second round pick and they he listed guy picked in that spot who are now in the Italian league. That's exactly the problem. Bronny isn't going to the Italian League. He's going to make the team and he will probably get significant minutes. Rich's take makes sense if you could cut that guy. Anyone think Bronny's getting cut under any circumstances while LeBron's on the team?

When did the NBA stop caring about performance on the court even for second rounders. I wonder what kind of college players those guys were? Rich didn't read off their college number's. He judged them on their pro career, but he gave Bronny a pass on his college nimbers.

Who give a F? If Little Bonner can play, he'll play. If he can't, he will sit on the bench. The Lakers will burn through a spot to make Big Bonner happy. Why Care?

You made the point that all the players taken at this spot in the 2nd round are bad players, but Bronny is not even on THAT level. It’s nothing but a publicity stunt, which is just another crack in the dam of legitimacy for the NBA.
Of course Rich doesn’t care because he’s gonna do the same thing for his son when he is of age.
