As someone from the UK, a stadium not having a roof or at least the stands covered mostly, even if the field isn't, is boggling.

Well you know this is for safety reasons and the field was in bad enough shape to continue playing!!
I get the safety issues but it's not like they were gonna play in the playoffs. They would've had six months to get the field back in shape.
I remember watching and it was the first time I seen a game end in a tie in the regular season, rightfully so, the Cubs had home field all wrapped up and the Pirates were done so it wouldn't have made too much sense to reschedule a "meaningless" game

5 years after Chicago cubs and Pittsburgh pirates ended 1-1 drawed due to weather. Cubs fans remember that night in the final home game for pirates there are only 2 base hits and ended with a draw.

In 2007 MLB did a rule change that required games that started but then subsequently called off due to rain to be considered suspended games and resumed at the next available date. Prior to that change, a tied game after the minimum innings that got rained out was started fresh and in 1998 the Cardinals during the home run chase ended up getting an extra home game because of the old rule. The Cards did an pregame announcement that Mark McGwire was not starting but could pinch hit in that rescheduled game, which became first game of a doubleheader, and virtually encouraged their fans to show up late - at first pitch virtually nobody was in the stands but by the 8th inning there was not a empty seat and he delivered a pinch hit home run. The first game affected by that rule change was the Rays at Phillies in the World Series and that game finished two days after it started.
The 2008 World Series game was suspended under the rule stating if a visitor ties or takes the lead in an inning and the home team has not completed their turn at bat the game is suspended if it is an official game m. That rule is still on the books

Ive been to a game thats been delayed you just show them the old ticket and they let you into a new game
The wierdest one is definitely the Indians-Royals game where a severe storm was coming to Kauffman Stadium (as it's in Kansas City which is right in the middle of Tornado Alley) where the wind came and then the rain.

In fact, Tampa scored when there was a downpour in the 6th inning. That is the lamest excuse ever. Besides, Philly would have closed it out in Tampa anyways, but they didn't need to.

@@edenleave2054 A section of the lights went out, so they had to call the game. If I remember correctly, it happened twice. They went out,came back on, then went out again.

No. Many games have. Notably game 2 of the 1907 world series. It was a tie due to darkness. Meaning the Cubs swept the Tigers in 5 games in a best of 7 series

It shouldn't be revoked. The MLB has ended games in a tie in the last couple weeks of the regular season before and the reason the Cubs and Pirates ended in a tie was because there wasn't any points at stake (meaning they weren't fighting for another position in the standings and if they did, it wouldn't of mattered).
