I will be making several of these for an upcoming outdoor wedding. I can match there color scheme and keep the guest cool at the same time. Then they can take them home as a wedding favor.
This would be a great thing to offer at a craft fair! Hmmmmmm....
My daughter is getting married next weekend on the beach. I think I'll make these for the ladies! It's immediate family only, so it wouldn't take too long. I'm so excited! TFS!!
Awesome. My niece getting married soon. In June. These would be great to have.
Thank you so much for this video. I have a few punches and they were stacked in a draw because I did not know how to use them. Now I know I am having so much fun with them. it is like Christmas in my house. Happy Happy Happy.
LOL - in Minnesota, we also say it's not the heat, it's the humidity, and we consider the mosquitoes to be our State bird... Loved the fan, thank you!
Super adorable project. I made these previously, not as elegant, but with my third grade students as a Mother's Day gift. The kids drew their own pictures and that was the paper we used. We used the small rubber bands for the closure and I stapled them to the sticks for the kids. Then, the next year, I had my class make them for Thanksgiving and we donated them to a local nursing home as a service project. Now, I will make your project for a more "sophisticated" version. 😉
You guys are killing me with the "southern talk"... "if we could just get rid of these skeeters". Hilarious!😄
Great craft - love the fans.

THANK you for teaching this old dog a new trick!! Last year I bought an adorable border punch. Used it and it was a MESS. I returned it next day never to buy another. I see them everyday on here and am so jealous. Realized just now that the punch was ok..i was just to dumb to use it right. After I watch your video I'm going to my favorite shopping site and get one. I WILL. Make a fan..or maybe even a bunch
What an great and simple project but it's also functional and elegant thanks for sharing.

Maymay - your tutorials are the best - you do such a wonderful job of explaining the steps. I particularly appreciate this tutorial, because I wanted to make one of these fans and couldn’t find instructions that were so well done. Thank you - Thank you

Oh fidledeedee. Lol!! I think she said that
Welcome back Maymay and Vinnie glad you had a great getaway. Praying for you Vinnie. Love the paper and the punch.
Maymay & Vinnie! It's so nice to see you back! Love theses little fans. They are beautiful.
We have these in the museum. I've always loved this style. Thank you.
Thank you Maymay & Vinnie ! That is a cute fan ! A very cute project!
Maymay I tried to use the buttons for a spacer because I just couldnt wait to get foam dots and it was kinda bulky BUT! then it hit me. I cut up one of my sticks into a small square and it was the perfect space and was a supply already being used. I also used a beaded project ( practice piece that I didnt like for its intended use but never unbeaded it) to weight the end of the bakers twine. Super pretty! TFS!!! your videos are so lively and fun.
How I enjoyed this video! You are HILARIOUS and made my day!!!! Great project!!!
You absolutely crack me up!! I have to admit I am thankful I can get to WalMart and Fred Meyer...BTW you need to do a winter cruise, I can't go till winter cause I work as a tour guide here in Alaska and cannot get time off in summer. Check out the Princess cruises and do one of those...I love them.
I really enjoyed watching and learning how to make these fans. Been looking for a while since April. Thanks a million for sharing I have tons of paper so I will be using what I have to see how them come out, Thanks again.
Wouldn't these be adorable to make in miniature version using Victorian design paper for Christmas ornaments?
coopie624 graphic 45 papers 😍
Feel better soon Vinnie
I love it. I was looking for an idea for my gift baskets. You inspired me. Im gonna make a bunch. Thank you MayMay
Ok, so I finally made me a fan. Not the prettiest paper, only one-sided print with white on reverse, but it was my test run. ⚠️ I stamped on the sticks (says "Stay COOL") then clear embossed over the whole stamped side to protect the ink and give it a glossy finish. Hot glue would NOT stick to the embossed finish. At least mine wouldn't. I finally got the twine and buttons glued but it wasn't easy. I will definitely make more. I need fans at church and I know other ladies there will want one! Love it! ❤️
You 2 are sooo cute - had fun watching this video. Love this fan. I also thought I could paint or cover the sticks with paper to match. I can see these fans included in a loaded envelope too. Can't wait to see Thursday's project too. TFS
You are a God send thank i will be making this for my summer Great Gatsby inspired wedding
Too cute! Great for tea parties or ladies luncheon.
Those fans are Awesome.. Thank you for taking the time to show us how to create them.
Adorable! Maybe a decorative bead at the end of the twine?

I think this is a treasure and would make them to hang as decorations. I am going to apply Velcro on the sticks to close it as I want the sticks to bind together as flat as possible. Thanks for sharing!

QUIICK TIP. When it comes to using a hot glue gun and pressing things down or smothing it out I used a dollar tree spatula. has saved my fingers from some major injuries.
sweet, brings back memories
