Kat is born as a GREAT Story-teller to her songs and also, when doing collaborations w/other TALENTED, Artists, as well.
They killed it, right? Katrina is a beast, and Jessica is also on the same path. They also performed it live on a award show Mori, Katrina, Gigi, KZ, Moira, Julie Anne and a few others are the best in Filipines, and around the world. The greats before them, Charice, Lea, Regine, Lani, and a few others paved the way. People joke with the fact that there are so many great singers in The Filipines saying that there must be something in the water. Also that there is at least one kareokee in every Filipino home, and that at every baby shower the mother to be and baby to come get no less than 2 or 3 kareokees as presents. Also that Filipino babys sing before talking. The talent and dedication is crazy.
It's in the karaoke... Heck, I influenced my nephew on singing... I sang for him to sleep, ya know. 😂
My siblings are scared of me letting go of my singing at the choir, they always point down as a signal to lower my voice. 🤣
I'm the singer in the choir who doesn't need the mic. to be heard, I was that one in the back who can change my voice to blend in or to increase the whole tempo. There was only one in the choir who can match me on improvising and harmonizing... I love her so much, man... I don't know that I could hit that HIGH until she pushed me. 😅 Dang, the two of us are like that. She is my Katrina Velarde because her voice is powerful. Trust us, most of us here just sing without vocal training... We just sing with what we're comfortable and even if you suck at singing, someone will teach you out of nowhere in the Philippines and sing with you for you to copy.
We love to sing in the shower and killing it too. Damn, I love their songs and get some great techniques from all of them from watching.

The Filipino artists are insane, among them is Katrina Velarde, a powerhouse in vocals. This particular song was her first release after the sudden departure of her producer/drummer husband who passed away shortly after they married late last year. All her performances are superb. Hi T Cat, I already thought about that but was not sure as I don't know the details of her story yet: So the drummer we see in her "Latin Medley" is her husband, and as it is only one year old this was recorded only a few months before his death? OMG, that's so tragic! To see how great they were together, and happy, and then to witness her new solo performances like "All By Myself" nearly breaks me... and yet she's still going so strong. My deep respect and admiration for this woman! Peace and love from Bavaria!

Love this duet with these two lovely ladies, but you need to listen to Katrina solo. I think you will love her Latin Medley (it's just a little long because it's 4 songs) which is absolutely great. I strongly second this suggestion and actually suggested it myself, this is worth every second, and no, it's not a little long but way too short... only 11 minutes of heavenly music composed as a splendid suite (she doesn't sing the full songs) with an extraordinary HQ voice, and not only are Katrina's vocals perfect, but also every single instrumentalist in this session is a master and they are really tight on it, one of the best studio sessions I've ever seen, others being Angelina Jordan and her band on "I Put A Spell On" you, Haley Reinhart and Postmodern Jukebox on "Creep" (or "Seven Nation Army", actually all the things she has done with PMJ are top notch) and Mon Laferte with her studio musicians live at Universal Records Hollywood (all songs...) - If you don't know these recording by Mon I strongly recommend you to check them out, especially as you seem to enjoy latin music, she's one of the greatest singers and performing artists of our days and will also be my next suggestion to Jess and Mike for a new artist on their channel...
As an example I link for you one song from this session I especially love, but as Mon is as versatile as Katrina, this is not "typical" for her songs, both are vocal chameleons and always know how to surprise their audiences, it's just a title that sticks to my ears like this Latin Medley and I hope you'll enjoy it! - Btw., can you recommend other recordings by Katrina in latin / jazzy style? I love her great ballads as well, but this type of music has me vibing, I love it! Have a great day and enjoy it!

I've seen this video so many times and it still gives me goosebumps. That pain you see is real because as you may already know from the comments, that her husband Mike Shapiro, who in his own right is an amazing drummer and musician who has worked with likes of the Black
Eyed Peas, Justin Timberlake, Natalie Cole, Macy Gray, Al Jarreau, Toots
Thielemans, Frank Gambale, Yellowjackets, Randy Travis, Ivan Lins, Dori
Caymmi and Sergio Mendes to name a few. So this pain is there and will always be there which makes this song even more beautiful in the most sad but anthem-ish kind of way because she is living on with her life without Mike.

Currently I can't get enough of her Latin Medley composed of four great songs, three English, one Spanish, she sounds different on each one, yet it's all really well blended and arranged perfectly, she makes it one great suite, and on this one she got an excellent, really oustanding live band, top notch musicians every single one of them playing very tight... Also I love the latin-jazz vibe to it and her attitude, this is so sexy but classy. This will make you wanna dance for sure... it'd be awesome to watch your reaction to this great piece of music, also I'm sure you already know and love at least some of the featured originals, and she does them absolute justice... another one to blow you away!
