- My friend said that the Isle of Man is "railway heaven" and you know what, he wasn't wrong! My next train trip in the Isle of Man was on the Isle of Man Steam Railway. I haven't done a full deep dive into the history of the railway on this video... kept it very brief!
The Isle of Man Steam Railway is a 3 foot narrow gauge railway was opened in 1874. Of the previous 3 lines that consisted of the steam network, only the Douglas to Port Erin line remains.
A trip from Douglas to Port Erin will take approximately an hour and will take you from Douglas' built up area through lovely countryside and charming little towns until you reach the seaside town of Port Erin.
At Port Erin you can enjoy the railway museum where there are two locomotives on display. In addition you can try out the virtual driving experience before enjoying tea and cake at the station cafe.

It's easy to find. I lived on the island for 17 years. Miss it a lot.
We loved it over there. Will definitely be going back
