  • With the 2025 F1 silly season in full effect, all the talk is about the prospects of Kimi Antonelli and Ollie Bearman joining the grid. But, I give my thoughts on why they shouldn't be in F1... YET!!!

Unfortunately, Russell did only do one year in F2 and in fact most of the junior categories. As did Leclerc, Norris, Hamilton and Piastri. It does seem the very top drivers are capable of winning each junior category in a year. Very few who do three years in F2 make it to F1 (see Felipe Drugovich)

I don't think these two drivers are in the same situation. Iagree about Antonelli, first year in F2 and skipped F3 so he needs to prove himself before a promotion and ideally promoted to Williams not Merc.
Bearman has already proved he has talent (a few wins last year) and is one of the favourites for this year's F2 and then did a decent race in F1. He is probably ready for Haas but if they can afford to wait another half a season before signing him just to be sure then that's ideal.

There's no way Ollie Bearman couldn't slot in at Williams and drive for them we've already seen it. We haven't seen Kimi Antonelli even go around yet until that happens it would be silly to sign him.

Well well well, they have both signed for 2025.
Ollie for me is gonna be good! Not only has he already got two races under his belt but he’s joined a team near the bottom of the grid and one with a complete lineup change. He’s got little to no pressure on him. Obviously he will have pressure from the British media but compared to Kimi, it SHOULD be a lot easier to get things going and his feet under the table.
Kimi however, I’m not sure. He crashes during his debut qualifying session which ok isn’t great but not the end of the world. But unlike Ollie, Kimi is going to have all the pressure. He’s driving for one of the most prestigious cars in the sport and not old that, he’s replacing one of the sports Hall of Famers and on top of all this, Toto has openly said he wants Max and Max was even asked by someone in the press room was he present during his teams talks with Mercedes rumoured to be contract negotiations. If true then Kimi needs to prove he deserves a seat over Russell for when IF and WHEN Max does join the team…

I’d rather watch Kimi or Ollie race than the like of Stroll, Ocon and Magnussen, none of whom should be anywhere near F1 ffs 😂
