Singer is Tuomas wife Johanna Kurkela. The old man is the famous Disney drawer Don Rosa.

The other singer is Johanna Iivanainen, a good friend of Johanna Kurkela. They make music together name "Altamullan Road" band. Listen for example "When It's Time".

Johanna Kurkela was 29 when this was released, 2014, she married Tuomas the following year. Her first album was released in 2005. Others have already mentioned other projects she's involved with, Auri, with Troy and Tuomas and Altamullan Road, with the other singer in this song, Johanna Iivanainen.

That man is a f***ing genius, you know who says that Steve Harris, Iron Maiden's primary songwriter. He truly is, he hears the lyrics and music in his head, and then he presents it to the band, they tweak parts, but the whole songs, start in his head. Tuomas Holopainen is a F***ing Genius. He writes deep musically and lyrically, he is a true poet and artist. When you watch a Nightwish song or listen to it, not just music, art. The primary singer in this is Tuomas' wife.
This song is really beautiful, but after you've read the book that this is about, it becomes a treasure like nothing else
Tuomas's wife Johanna ,Troy and Tuomas has a another band also, called Auri. Listen some of their song. BTW, Johanna's voice sounds so young because she is such small lady. But so very beautiful. She is an absolute Angel.

Marco from Nightwish also has his own band and Music as well. Floor has her own channel as well as some phenomenal music on Beste Zangers a dutch tv show in 2019.
Thanks for being willing to explore this, as many reactors do not seem willing to go there and it's too bad. Also if you are a film score lover, the entire 2nd disc of Nightwish's latest double album is an 8-part orchestral symphonic piece called All the Works of Nature Which Adorn the World.

You are spot on - all Tuomas's compositions are never "overdone" by any singer or instrument - it's all necessary pieces to complete the composition.
When you gets to know more of all the members of Nightwish - you will no longer be surprised over the quality of the music. This are the top of the top - including, as you says - their close technicians and engineers.
Tuomas sends out the materials to the others. Sometimes Marko and/or Troy are working together with him on some songs - but the raw material played on piano, are sent to the others.
They listen, digest and interpret their part of the songs.
Then after 4 - 6 weeks they all meet by the lake, deep in the forest, including technicians - and starts mixing their interpretations together. Sometimes the songs changes dramatically - but most songs just get completed with the personal touch of all 6 members. The singing, the duets and chorus are mostly Floor, Marko and Troy working together - or just Floor and Tuomas (Floor is unique in her way of using her voice as an instrument and a tool to enhance the soul/emotion/passion of the songs).
Too bad that Marko has left the band - but it will be interesting to see what happens.
The corporation between Floor and Tuomas are unique in the music industry - 2 giants in sync, backed by the top of the in musicians and technicians.
The vocalist is no 13 year old. She is Tuomas's wife, Johanna Kurkela. She has an incredibly soft angelic voice.
Satisfying stuff, man!
Mark my words, 200 years from now, like Beethoven, Mozart and Bach, they'll be talking about and listening to the genius of Tuomas Holopainen!

I have been enjoying this song also since I found it recently. You really should watch the video again with the music as it shows the orchestra musicians playing, and the singers as well as the Disney animator Don Rosa drawing the story which inspired the album. Tuomas is a big lover of Disney.
I cant wait to dive more into this!
I bought the illustrated book for my youngest daughter last year as she loves this song. Cost me a fortune as it was only 1 of 2 sealed copies I could find in Canada. Worth it though.
You should read it too, it's an absolutely masterful example of the Hero's Journey from old myths. Well worth the read even as an adult.

‘The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck’ is probably Tuomas Holopainen’s ‘magnum opus’. Any track from this album along with the full album #2 of Nightwish’s ‘Human:II:Nature’ would be good reaction vids.

Love how Tuomas composes music like this love the Orchestra to know the backing Orchestra to Nightwish is real Not using MIDI synthesizer but pre recordedor else it would cost a fortune to cart them around everywhere including accommodation and travel so it makes sense
I just cant get over the instrumental quality
This was a project by Tuomas to celebrate the "Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck" and the artistry of the creator, Don Rosas. Tuomas is a very huge Disney fan and loves this cartoon series. This is Tuomas' wife Johanna who sings this and she is an adult woman with the voice of a pixie. The guitar tone was chosen so as not to interfere with the violin frequencies.
They just have so much talent from music to the arts
The rest of this album is very worthwhile, too! If you want to expand even further, try The Space Between from Auri (side project of Tuomas, Troy and Johanna)

Johanna Kurkela isn't quite a teenager. Maybe a teenaged angel. It's just how she sounds.
There are one or two of us that have been asking for reactions to this album for a while, so thank you. Others have suggested "Auri", which is Tuomas's project with his wife, Johanna Kurkela, and Troy from Nightwish. It's a gorgeous album, but my favourite is "Desert Flower", where you get to hear Troy's vocal ability as well as Johanna. ETA I just had to listen to this again. The Viola and vocals makes me cry every time. It's so hauntingly beautiful. You can also hear how writing the album inspired Tuomas to write "Human. :II: Nature".
