This man must be the reincarnation of Elias Parish-Alvars. He even looks the part. It is just phenomenal. The arrangement is most fantastic too. Bravo to the arranger. One of the hightlights of my life, stumbling upon this video........
Look how his fingers flow in the beginning, though the sound will rival not the orchestra in power, but he makes much more magical. It's like a person telling a story from an epic poem, not with words, but by the sounds of his harp.
That is ASTOUNDING! There just is no other word for music so beautifully played. That's a very difficult piece. I've played just the harp part with an orchestra, and that's fun enough!
Grazie infinite per la bellezza che colgo nella capacità tecnica, musicale ed espressiva di un'esecuzione così complessa ma, nello stesso istante libera e fluida come l'acqua del fiume che le note volgiono rappresentare!
@XDSerraXD It is the second movement of Smetana's suite Ma Vlast, called Moldau. Originally for symphonic orchestra, although, this arrangement is stunningly fantastic!
can you imagine if xavier de maistre and David Garrett on violin and throw Jesse Cook on guitar into the mix and they all collaborated together how mind blowingly good that would that peace sound

i love the sound of this harp (: this is no music, this is art (: we are glad to see you on our HANG & HARP channel: ciferencesymphony thanx CIFERENCE-SYMPHONY
Take a look on youtube for Valérie Milot! I'm not saying she is playing better, but she definitely plays beautiful, with a different character and interpretation
Very clean and clear, but a shallow tone quality that could use more body. I never heard this arrangement by Trnecek performed before, and didn't think it could be effective, but de Maistre has convinced me it might be worth learning.
It's a new Lyon & Healy 23, gold. I doubt Vienna would hire a powerful sounding harpist. His tone isn't bad, but there is the potential for more sound and color in a harp than he is producing with a light, fast touch. He is certainly an extremely good young harpist, but you should hear Alice Giles or Judy Loman perform for a broader perspective, in my opinion. I know quite a few superb harpists. The best I've heard/seen is Heidi Lehwalder, beyond all.
@capiem I believe everyone has the right to comment on something even if they can't really do it... for example, not everyone is the president but everyone seems to criticize him all the time. I personally think this is a wonderful performance, but at times there are mistakes he made (though not obvious to an untrained ear).
Shallow tone? This guy is Vienna Phil principal hp;maybe the harp(Asia concert?Aoyama harp?),maybe the concert hall.Anyway, just my opinion here,Xavier is the greatest harp performer nowadays,an absolute artist beyond sheer technique
I got a chance to going his concert in Japan.I had biggest mistake that my cell phone alarm beep during he plays this Moldau. . . I apologized him soooooo much after his concert. He joked around about that BUT I still wanna kill myself even 4 years past or I will never forget well, I should remember it forever. 本当にごめんなさい…… 私は最低な人間です。
Well, it's a good point that it may have been by choice, but since you don't know me, you can't assume I'm any kind of wannabe or lesser anything. Nevertheless, I don't like that tone quality. I would not call it full-bodied, which even a pianissimo can be. Go listen to Alice Giles, she's on RUclips.

he is an angel of the heaven, i love him. i heard him in hamburg few weeks ago. he is a real artist
E' incredibile questa esecuzione, fa venire i brividi !
Grazie !!!!!!!!!!!!
I've heard many excellent harpists in my 70 years, but this is heavenly. Perfect articulation. Thanks to harpobird.
This is just absolutely magnificent!
Bravo. Toutes mes félicitations pour cette magnifique interprétation.
Look how his fingers flow in the beginning, though the sound will rival not the orchestra in power, but he makes much more magical. It's like a person telling a story from an epic poem, not with words, but by the sounds of his harp.
That extra high register of the harp soumds heavenly
Exceptional. Perfect tempo in my book. Extremely difficult to play, to say the very least.
Oh, wow! This is a stunning version!
That is ASTOUNDING! There just is no other word for music so beautifully played. That's a very difficult piece. I've played just the harp part with an orchestra, and that's fun enough!

Absolutely astonishing. I have never seen his equal.
And this evening I'll see him live in concert :-)
Robert Herman, I sit corrected.
Robert Herman, I try to not perform in a leather miniskirt. It was a good photo. A ballet skirt works better for a harp performance. :D
i do i do
Masterful rendition. BRAVO!
Music from heaven.
Grazie, grazie per la tua interpretazione, la tua bravura, il tuo talento ...
We have seen him last week live in Fribourg, and he is every bit as great as on the video! Maybe even better :-)

Beautiful!!!! where can i get the score?
I know this is an old comment but Vanderbilt music company sells the music for this piece.
beautiful :O
one day i hope i can learn to play like this
my teacher says i still have far to go :p
Have you learnt to play it yet?
Very clean and clear, but a shallow tone quality that could use more body. I never heard this arrangement by Trnecek performed before, and didn't think it could be effective, but de Maistre has convinced me it might be worth learning.
Heard him live and he has quite a solid tone. This is probably just not recorded well.

Faultless technique!
@UchihaZora
Time to travel the world, buddie!
Yes in Hamburg hochschule
is the name of the song moldau?
Gleich nach Henriette Renié kommt Xavier de Maistre!
@harpstickers I hate people who point out mistakes! I would like to see you play this at the same speed in a solo recital in front of an audience!

Mistakes happen🤧
What does older have to do with it? The crazy piece she is playing is not really a good example of Judy Loman's tone, which is quite good.

He looks like a dark-haired Barney..
