J is not an underrated guitarist everybody. He is constantly called one of the greatest guitarists of his generation, which he absolutely is. J is a guitar god. Everybody knows that.
Been my favorite guitar player over Hendrix for almost 30 years.whats fucked up is that he's better on drums than guitar.he recorded whatever's cool with me by himself and that one really good album
He’s an underrated singer. I saw him in the nineties on a solo acoustic tour. His voice filled the hall- the show was as powerful as his Dino power trio shows. The guy is a living museum of ‘ soul’ music
J is a beautiful singer - he could have been mic’d better here - I saw him on a solo acoustic tour in 96, Montreal- it was as outstanding as his blistering power shows. He’s a real artist. Much respect to one of my biggest guitar influences. Guys like him make me pick up the guitar to find my own voice.
About ten or fifteen years ago, I saw J light the world on fire at Subterranean in Chicago...an acoustic guitar that he turned into an electrical phenomenon. It was just f-ing beautiful. I haven't had the majesty of seeing him since then but...July, he'll be back. If I have to go to his show alone, I will. He's just beautiful.
They 'captured' it? What, was it trying to get away? I think what happened was that J agreed to be recorded doing a cover of Fade into you, and lo it came to pass.
The guy is ok, but fade, needs female vocals to be right. As far as being the best on the git. I guess you never heard of john renbourne,,ect.ect.ect and the list go's on
@@Nevets7tz3 No-one will match or evoke the exact emotion in Hope's vocals; neither a male nor female voice. So, to say the song "requires" a female voice would imply the song cannot elicit the same reaction and feelings from a male voice, is purely subjective - I listen to both versions and enjoy them equally. J's version has a subdued hopefulness to it, which I appreciate. In conclusion, to compare this to the original would be akin to comparing two parallel lines.
I want to hold the hand inside you I want to take the breath that's true I look to you, and I see nothing I look to you to see the truth You live your life, you go in shadows You'll come apart, and you'll go black Some kind of night into your darkness Colors your eyes with what's not there Fade into you Strange you never knew Fade into you I think it's strange you never knew A stranger's light comes on slowly A stranger's heart without a home You put your hands into your head And then smiles cover your heart Fade into you Strange you never knew Fade into you I think it's strange you never knew Fade into you Strange you never knew Fade into you I think it's strange you never knew I think it's strange you never knew

Yeah but this is so not him...
m. x. He sure made it work for him to me 🤦🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️
@@mxxmi It is, of course Djr is loud guitar rock, but if you listen to the albums you can tell J loves chill, soft acoustic stuff as well.

The man has a completely unique sound that hooked me over twenty years ago.
agreed
You make me want to pick up my guitar...every. single. time.
I love the spirit you add to this song without changing the melancholy vibe to it. Nice.
Love this guy! He has been one of my main influences writing music

A, E, Bm
@@Sam-jj3wn In the last part of the chorus you add a D before returning to A "I think it's strange you never knew.."
J Mascis sat in for a Rolling Stone Session and they captured his cover of Mazzy Star's "Fade Into You"

❤❤ 🇧🇷
What kind of guitar is that and does it belong to J or was it borrowed?
Thanks. I just looked up a review of the Eterna. You're right, affordable, and they describe it as a student guitar.
My friends always give me shit for this song but j just made it sooooo much fucking better
I want to hold the hand inside you
I want to take the breath that's true
I look to you, and I see nothing
I look to you to see the truth
You live your life, you go in shadows
You'll come apart, and you'll go black
Some kind of night into your darkness
Colors your eyes with what's not there
Fade into you
Strange you never knew
Fade into you
I think it's strange you never knew
A stranger's light comes on slowly
A stranger's heart without a home
You put your hands into your head
And then smiles cover your heart
Fade into you
Strange you never knew
Fade into you
I think it's strange you never knew
Fade into you
Strange you never knew
Fade into you
I think it's strange you never knew

Imagine you’re so cool that you did not learn the lyrics to a song that Rolling Stone Magazine came to film you perform.

Lmao you just mad you don’t got talent like j
That guitar is pretty crappy.
I worship this song but this is so not him...he should sing "estrange into you..." Would be better
J is pretty great, but I can't imagine anything more boring then someone covering "Fade Into You" on acoustic guitar
