thank you for posting. It really is amazing how tedious it must be recording take after take. It sounds so different when mixed with other tracks. I find this just fascinating because the engineers and artists hear it like this first and never really hear the debut. I know I'm hearing and thinking about so much when listening. imagine what's in their heads. jumping johosaphat!
Fantastic work Ruben. Great channel. Steve is the GOAT. I wish I had this 2 years ago. I learned every beat of these solos for a show I play every few months. It was bar by bar, using Amazing Slow Downer and playing along with an incredible Japanese MIDI file I found. The only part I could never get right is at 7:23. This mixed tom and kick thing just didn't come naturally to me! So I have substituted my favourite Jeff Porcaro fill RLRLKKRLRLKKRRRR as a sort of respect for him since I love his playing too. But if you could play it? We dig your playing too! Cheers PK
I used to wonder this as well. But I watched videos of him w/ the army big band when he was young, then really dug into his pocket and feel. also, he plays parts I'd never have thought to play. Parts that are way more interesting and/or appropriate than what many others would come up with. I'm pretty sure that at the end of the day Gadd can do what I can do, but I cannot do what he can.
How he made all those complex sounds fit so well into the song is amazing. Greatness.

Historic
6:56 drum solo
Leggendaria
This is a truly historic thing to have available! Thank you! Question: Why does it sound gated and over compressed?
You do it with a special app that takes away the rest... so thats why it sounds a little weird
@@RubenvanRoonDrumChannel Wow! That's impressive!!
@@RubenvanRoonDrumChannel Wow, cool! What’s the app?
Look up stem separators, there are many different ones depending on your needs
dynamics!!
Was this a different take? Because I can’t hear 3:21 this part on the original record. On the original I am hearing a half time groove.
Will check it!!!
BEFORE GADD AFTER
his toms actually sound a lot more open than they appear with the rest of the band
That's because he ran his toms through a Quasar E-42 Dyno reverse muffle open top, doubled through a Dexter Spectrum 6.
Where are the cymbals?
Amazing how sparse most of the track is except for the solos. When he digs into that grove though.... damn.
Legendary performance. 1st or 2nd take?
Album take!
Which is rumored to be the second take, but they may have spliced the two together. There seems to be only speculation on that.
Truth be told. They weren't that happy with Gadd's performance. So they asked me to come in and record over what he'd done. @@roelkuiper9919
@@Frip36 Of course. Well done! 😆
@@Frip36 I suspected as much and you killed it, as usual!
im starting to look like an elderly woman too.

No disrespect....but i don't get it. I don't hear or see anything special about Gadd. I have tried. He is unremarkable. Not bad. Just okay.

Can’t wait to see some of your stuff…
He’s no Buddy Rich…. lol
@@davidcertain2492 what’s the point of comparing art and artists? There’s ample space for all.
Well if you can play all that, then cool. It’s a lot harder than people think.
