Defer time in your Canadian logbook...watch the video!!
In the event of a crash, adverse weather or other unforeseen events, commercial drivers in Canada can defer time from Day #1 to Day #2. Drivers can reduce their off-duty requirements on Day #1 by up to 2 hours so long as this reduction is made up on Day #2. Both days must be clearly marked on the log sheet. This technique is advanced, and owing to the "rolling" work cycle, this is not a common practice on Canadian log books.

We have a driver who was off almost 16 hours, 8 hours in the evening and then about 5 hours and 45 minutes from midnight until he started the next day. It immediately put him in violation. We're confused on why that happened. Not a lot of videos to explain this. Hoping maybe you could chime in?
