Perfect blend of rock and country. That’s why I love Stapleton.
You said it. Rock. And country music is not what it used to be due to the rock sound so many are trying to bring. The song "Murder on Music Row" by Strait and Jackson says it best.
It is ridiculous how great this is.....I can just listen to it over & over.....
It's unreal. This made me want to pick up my guitar and start playing again. Bad ass!
😮.😅.😅😅@@metalgeniusjoe5602.sp.lh
me too🔥
Am a black man.. Hey Chris Stapleton you ARE SOMETHING SPECIAL your music and your writing is on point. Keep doing your thing and I will keep listening to you.. my family love you.. in times we living in we need more of you.. your music has alot of Soul and Blus just everything. I have to say this RIGHT ON..
Seeing you tonight in NH pavilion yahoo
Same here! Black man, and I need more songs JUST LIKE this .
The neighbors are gonna listen to this one whether they like it or not 😂
My neighbors are enjoying it now 2020
Ahh yes, my type of people, have a drink on me!
tip of the cap sir!!

@@kathleendaigle857 hell ya brother 🔥🤘💯
He originally wrote this with his bluegrass band The Steeldrivers. Listen to that version too, it’s awesome!
Chris did say though that when he wrote it, he DID initially intend for it to sound like a country rock anthem (like this)
Mike Henderson is (apparently) a bad ass at turning any song into bluegrass music
I heard that version first then heard this at a rodeo and loved this better
I was lucky enough to have seen him and the steeldrivers live in a small room of about 40 people in Fort Smith back in the day. Best show ever
Yes it is.
God was showing off when he made Chris!
Med Tech27 your so right!!! He put a lil extra funk and soul in this man and I'm so jealous!!!
That voice ... forged from something magical
Naaah, you're mistaking Chris for God
HOLD NO OTHER GODS BEFORE
CHRIS ALMIGHTY
DO UR PANTLESSDANCE! I MEAN PENTINENCE #whatwasithinking
@@russellzauner yes Chris almighty. He is my God tonight.
He has more country music on one album than the radio has in years
Absofuckinloutely right
His blues songs such as this one seem more popular then his country songs.
@Christopher Bingham Tennessee Whisky also started as a country song, but both are performed as blues songs by Chris.
@@acvarthered 👀
@@acvarthered It's a mix and can hear both. Country and blues goes pretty good together don't it? Like imagine if we can all get along and share culture and help each other the things we could accomplish instead of arguing who is better.
Chris Stapleton is saving country music
Yep
A
He's one of my favorites, but country music never died, its people lost appreciation for how fantastic it truly is, Chris just keeps the circle together
I recommend people like Jamey Johnson or Dwight Yokam if you're into Chris's music
Amen brother
I just heard the first RIFF of this song and came running from the kitchen while cooking bacon, I thought my speakers had just burst into FLAMES !! HELL yeah ! GREAT SONG Chris !!
B Dawg no one like Chris Stapleton,WOW,absolutely love ❤️ his music and his voice is fabulous,,the Best there is
B Dawg - this was originally his song with the Steeldrivers but he's put a rock edge on it for this album. I like both versions - this definitely brings a new twist to the song that suits it!
*while cooking bacon* LMAO. I love that you included that. :D
He is the best hell. Yell
you are a fucking dumbass...then you typed it.it is a good song but don't advertise.
This needs to be listened to VERY loud....TURN IT UP!!!!
I can't stop listening to this song. Please send help.
For some reason it helps my rage
It helps me feel like my situation will be over in 40 days. Only 40 days more suffering.
Especially growing up in martial arts, it's like training for a fight. You have a certain amount of time to prepare for a certain challenge. And if you endure hell you make it out. But if you don't.....
Wow, what a killer guitar riff!!
I LOVED this song when he was with The Steeldrivers. It was always a rockin song, but he rocked the hell out of it in this version!!! Amazing as always, Chris.
I know, right? Both versions are great. Much as I love bluegrass, this southern rock take is also great. Stapleton's got a hell of a voice.
I did too! The Steeldrivers are the ones that made me discover Chris Stapleton. My friend suggested them to me and I've been in love with Chris' voice ever since!
Kind of soul you can feel in your bones, legendary.
After hearing his bluegrass version of this song with his former band (The Steeldrivers), I was halfway expecting that when I saw that this song was on his newest CD. When I heard this version, I was blown away and caught off guard lol. It's still awesome.
Absolutely love this,, you can’t beat Chris Stapleton ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

@@chrisstapleton2054how much of a little sado must you be to pretend to be somebody your not 😢
I can't be the only person who thinks this version is way better. Love this rock version!
Sierra Garris i dig it better than the other
Same! Love this version.
You're not. This is the kind of punchy, blues-inspired rock that I practically worship.
I think they both (the Bluegrass and the Southern Rock version) sounds amazing.
The lyrics of this song demand a bluesy, percussive edge that acoustic bluegrass just can't provide. I'm with you.
Lyrics
Well, Judge looked down gave me forty days
Instead of the fine that I could not pay
Said walk right you'll soon be home
Cross the line and you're on your own
Forty Days of shotguns and barbed wire fences
Forty Nights to sit an listen to the midnight train to Memphis
Well now, whistle blows when the sun comes up
Head to floor keep your big mouth shut
Eat your breakfast on the ground
Work like hell till the sun goes down
Forty days of shotguns and barbed wire fences
Forty nights to sit an listen to the midnight train to Memphis
Well now, 10 for the jury 10 for the judge
20 more to forget my grudge
When I get to 39
That’s the longest day in a prisoner's mind
Thank you
You know, I don't like a lot country music because of what it's turned into. But that's one hell of a voice and song
Midnight train to Memphis is in reference to a kid rock song
.
...
M
Say it something
I always thought it was off-white lexus instead of barbed wire fences. I was so wrong lol
Nothing but love for Chris Stapleton ❤️
Sienna Jayne - are you kidding me? nothing but love?? you really need a life. fuck you and fuck him.

My band popped this at a metal show and the audience went nuts.
THAT, my friends, is crossover appeal
This is a great theme song for the show, "United States of Al"
Here in Kentucky we call him Chris the Phenomenon. His versatility is amazing. Bluegrass to southern rock to blues, he can do it and do it big.
Larry Proctor hi live in eastern Kentucky! What part of ky you live?
Barkerwithamarker I live in Central Kentucky, not far from Lexington.
Larry Proctor you gonna go to his live show?
Barkerwithamarker Naw, ima have to miss this one. A shade out of my reach right now lol. If you go, enjoy yourself!!!!!
Im from the same town as him i go to the same high school he did. My dad was also friends with him in high school. #606
I feel like there should be an action movie set in Memphis and this should be the theme song.
Eddie Murphy just did it!
OMG yes!
This is the greatest open top keep riding song on the planet
Damn right
I am convinced he's here to sing to our souls
Had to check out after US of AL and 60 min - LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!!!!!!!!

I saw Chris Stapleton last night here in Albuquerque! He open up to this song and it fit well with the crazy southwestern lighting that was going on!
Definitely a fantastic show!

Southern Rock and Chris Stapleton are one of Gods many gifts to us!! Hallelujah!!!!!
I HAVE LISTENED TO THIS SONG OVER AND OVER AND OVER. I JUST CAN'T GET ENOUGH!!!
So refreshing hearing an artist. Singer, songwriter, and the most talented musician since Kenny Wayne Sheppard
0:19 Dude made his guitar sound like a train horn. I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm very impressed.

Just heard this yesterday for the first time. Being a hard rock and metal fan I had never heard of Chris but this song kicks ass.
Reminds me a bit of skynyrd, and howlin wolf. This dude is the best out there
When I first heard him sing I was hooked..

Crossover country/rock songs are awesome.
Mind = BLOWN
Goodness, gracious, great balls o' fire!
The guitar in the beginning plus the crazy good vocals❤️❤️❤️💕💕💕🙏
I heard this live for the first time yesterday and I can say it was amazing. I'm not really into live performances and more into just repeatedly playing my CDs whatever but that live performance was fire.
I never get tired of hearing Chris Stapleton!
Thanks Cindy I must say that I have enormous respect for you considering the manner in which I have made contact with you. I am very glad you are a fan of mine. Where are you chatting from?
This song will never get old!! From the opening riff it hooks you and let's go!!

Just a bad ass song
THIS IS A BANGER

Blues baby blues
I remember this song when it was his bluegrass band
Thank God for musicians like Chris Stapleton, Cody Jinks and Sturgill Simpson
Couldn't agree more, don't forget Whitey Morgan and The 78's
I like JAMEY JOHNSON RANDY HOUSER and I think we need to give LUKE COMBS a chance! He's an excellent songwriter good vocalist ( not good as CHRIS but nobody is) and he ain't no PRETTY BOY!
Nicholas Monteforte (whisky Myers)
@@cameronmallin3097 what about luke bryan. 😂😂😂😂 just kidding just kidding.
The live version from SNL with Sturgill Simpson is amazingness! I had never heard of either until that performance, now I'm a fan.
sounds like arc angels.
Crazy thing, the Local New Rock/Alternative station played this. Coolest thing ever!
Fantastic Beat
Chris brings a tear to a grown mans eye and makes beer better and the ladies move..
you go chris!
now thats a true artist.
Dam Chris, this is the perfect song for Yankee baseball. #AllRise
He is definitely awesome
Just me or does Chris Stapleton sound like Chris Cornell, too? This guy could join any rock or country band. Very versatile voice.
This is the theme song from CBS' new show, United States of Al.
Yee Yee
I'm a simple man. When i see a new content, uploaded by Chris, before even listening,i simply hit the like button. :D

Great song. I can already hear it playing in the background of my next catch up over beers with mates.
Oooh the soul this man has! That's it!
I clicked so fast, when I saw the title of this. 😂
I've been waiting for him to release one of his older songs.
This isn't what I was expecting, but I don't dislike it.
I just prefer the original version better.
Still a great version of it, though!
This man is pure gold...
Golden metal award to this metal song
Freakin great song!
The man could sing the words right off a gum wrapper..I swear..he opens his mouth and soul comes pouring out..
From A Prison Cell: Volume 2. Gonna cause a riot with this kind of rockin music.

Great Highway Song Thank you Chris 💙
Just found this tune recently and it's got speeding ticket written all over it when I get in the car,
Yessss!!! ❤️❤️❤️
For some reason I dig the version master Stapleton did with The Steeldrivers. This one is awesome too though!!
Yeah I gotta say I prefer the bluegrass version as well. Just seems to fit the song a little better.
Same
Me too - definitely - but I do like what he's done with this one. Bringing many new sets of ears to a song that might otherwise have missed them?
I was the opposite. I heard the STEELDRIVERS version 1st then heard the JOMPSON BROTHER'S version later and I knew I needed the SOUTHERN ROCK version! After all I'm 61 and grew up while LYNYRD SKYNYRD THE ALLMAN BROTHERS MARSHALL TUCKER CHARLIE DANIELS WET WILLIE were all doing their thing so I HAVE TO BE FORGIVEN. IT WAS NOT MY FAULT!
