Katakuri Spring 2024

Katakuri flowers appear one after another among the dead leaves in March and April. Japanese Katakuris are light pink or light purple, but some are white.
It takes seven to eight years from seed to flower, and the flowers bloom for another seven to eight years after that. Their life span may be long or short.
It likes to be in the sun, and its flowers tend to wilt when the weather is bad. In any case, they look downwards, giving the impression of being modest.
This year, I met katakuris at Shiroyama Katakuri no Sato, Jindai Botanical Garden, and Hakone Wet Flower Garden.

カタクリは魚沼にも咲いているのでしょうね。本当は山で見たいものです。。。
