When you were guessing the length on that big trout, i figured i'd give you a tip. ya know, return the favor. take a tape measure and a paint pen and mark your rod every 5 inches starting at the 15 mark. you can also throw in 18 and 27 for reds and 28 and 32 for snook, if you want. it really helps when you're in the water like that, you can take your fish, lay his tail at the butt of the rod and see where the nose sits. Great fish, as always.
hey blair just had to let you know I finally took my Flats Blue offshore rod fishing yesterday I went to the pier caught a few weakfish, whiting and trout but my best thing i caught was a 13 pound Black Drum and the rod held up perfectly and I really liked that while it was strong and powerful it still had a fairly light tip when I took my 1oz DOA shrimp and jigged that everything I got when I meet you at dicks worked like a charm thank you for helping me out and if I get a Mogan you will know
CAPT Nichols is awesome. I didn't like him much at first, but I warmed up to him and learned some stuff. His DOA videos on his baits are like going to a college fishing lab. I can tell he loves what he does and is quite the conservationist. His use of hardware insulation in an airhead is simplicity incarnated. Good on ya, sir!
I had to watch you and Mark again wade fishing, I would say this is one of my all time favorite videos to watch and watch and watch...wishing I was there with you guys catching those mogans....
I use the DOA shrimp solo when the tide is ripping and I have found the trout or redfish, and the DOA deadly combo popping cork as a search bait trying to locate trout or redfish.
NICE!! I'm a Mainer and there's nothing like salt water fishing in FL. It ruined me forever as far as having to go back to Northern Maine and catch Salmon and Brookies...lol. They just don't fight like a big ol RED FISH!!!
i live in massachusetts where the main fish i fish for are Largemouth bass and brook trout but i recently went on vacation to myrtle beach and caught my first speckled sea trout on a half ounce rootbeer gold flake DOA shrimp, i also was using my antique mitchell spinning reel and its probably was the first fish on that reel since the sixties and it was quite a fight keep up the amazing videos!
About 2 weeks ago I got the 7'6 flats blue and I just ordered another for my good friends birthday he said he needed a new rod cause his broke so I decided to get him the 7'6 flats blue it will be here in a couple of days can't wait to see his reaction
i hooked a trout like that one live mullett and those things can fight that was just pure fun it was a catch and release moment then a fish that big diserves to live on
Hey dude! well. let me just start off with saying that fishing is my passion. It is what i want to do for a living! I love going out to Galveston bay or matagorda bay anytime i possibly can. i go ever Saturday when i do not have work, i dont care what the conditions are. i always catch fish whenever i go which makes me think that i could possibly do something with this. I would like to join tournaments but they just cost wayyy too much and idk who would be my partner in them. I am 17 years old.
Hey! I'v been watching you guys and you guys are awesome fisher man! I love to fish too! But, my dad never gets the time to take me fishing! I would love to fish with you guys!
🙋 where I live at in Pennsylvania, I so totally wish that we had speckled trout in our little stream but we don't. We just have regular freshwater trout. Like rainbow, brookies, brown, tiger tiger, lake trout and golden trout. You guys are so lucky get to go for speckled trout. Anyway awesome video.
throw it out and reel it back, give it a twitch here or there. Try to keep the bait just above the grass or bottom. Make it look like an injured mullet.
I'm sorry wrong lure. Your usin' D.O.A. Shrimp. I hooked a Mogan Seat/Trout with a Red King Redfish Spoon the other day(can't mention the spot) but he shook himself off the spoon. Was an upset fisherman. It was a sad moment on that day. But oh well you learn and move on. Didn't land him but the Gold Spoons are fun to use to. Love the D.O.A. Shrimp the best though. Sea/Trout Candy is what I call them. Good show Mr. Mogan Man!!
man this makes me miss living in panama city and the fishing around there. you just got another subscriber. hoping to plan a little get away to get some fishing in down there next year!
He used to use Fin-nor reels, I like them, but I haven't gotten to check out a Sabalos. I usually use Shimano though. Keep in mind W&M is his current sponsor, so he may not be able to discuss pros and cons! :p
19:26 I see a new feature for the Flats Blue rods: a bite grip just for situations like this. A little foam tape around there for a 3rd hand rod holder.
The it depends on how the current is. If you have current throw a 1/8 ounce jig on it's and just jig and real up the slack jig and repeat. Don't go nuts with the jig just a short swift jig will do
Watchin you catch redfish made me start salt water fishin.bassin wasnt doin it for me anymore.i dont catch many reds but i sure got addicted to that trout bite awful quick.biggest one so far is 26" weighed exactly 6 lbs.
i love these videos! i live in stuart and i cant find any places to fish inshore but these videos help me out just a lot. do you know any places where its good fishing that i don't need a boat for?
Beautiful specs down there. Maybe somebody out there can help me out there. This is my first year fishing for speckled trout I'm up here in Virginia and I was fishing today fishing for speckled about one in every 10 or keepers I'm using a jig head with a z-man grub paddle tail and something grabbed it and and bit the line right into took everything could that be a trout or blue fish? I'm using 15 pound test
what rod is the blue one? i need to rebuild my fishing arsenal after hurricane sandy wrecked all my gear, i used them for the summer last year but kept having reels break and rods cracking due to the storm flooding my garage. I am wondering if the rod you have is good for flounder as well as well as stripers and other game fish in inshore NJ
Okay i've got a question, about DOA lures, like with the shrimp. What's the trick to using them? I went to the store and got some of those "glow" shrimp...and I don't want to go out and not know how to use them...
Could you just please tell me how you managed to become such a good fisherman? and how you became sponsored by the best! Thank you so much. Any advice would be perfect!
You know we have that size and bigger right here at home at the Space coast! I will say that is one of the better looking big trout that I have seen. Here, they seem to lose a lot of spots and just look like theyve been on steroids, working out or something!
To who ever disliked this, Why would you dislike it? There were no obvious reasons to dislike. Don't dislike because you don't like him.

Speckled Trout are absolutely, the most beautiful inshore fish. There is nothing like landing a nice one in my humble opinion.

Catching big trout is a rush. An unexplainable feeling. That's why I love fishing so much because I love that feeling.
Just pure simplicity with a DOA Shrimp. Nice trout!!

I love Seatrout on the fly but these guys are proper fish! Good show! ATB
A great video of you and Mark wade fishing, that's the ultimate way to fish, I enjoyed watching you both fish and having fun!

They just don't fight like a big ol RED FISH!!!

depends if your using the shallow runner, deep runner or trolling model.
6000 or 7000 should work, but if you hook into a big smoker, you might need the capacity of the 8000.

Bluefish or a Spanish Mackerel most likely.
specifically the shallow runner
what rod is the blue one? i need to rebuild my fishing arsenal after hurricane sandy wrecked all my gear, i used them for the summer last year but kept having reels break and rods cracking due to the storm flooding my garage. I am wondering if the rod you have is good for flounder as well as well as stripers and other game fish in inshore NJ

Love the shows dude! Whats the electronic thing you hang around your neck? Whats it do?
Thanks.
Could you just please tell me how you managed to become such a good fisherman? and how you became sponsored by the best! Thank you so much. Any advice would be perfect!
Slow your retrieve down. Slower is better for DOA shrimp.
damn good shit!
I can see my house from where you were fishing
You know we have that size and bigger right here at home at the Space coast! I will say that is one of the better looking big trout that I have seen. Here, they seem to lose a lot of spots and just look like theyve been on steroids, working out or something!
