I have two of these pallets for my gouache. I put a couple of drops of Clove Bud Oil in each well and mix it in the paint. It stops mould. 😃

That's really cool. I'll have to try Clove bud oil in the future. Rubbing alcohol works, but I'd prefer to use something more natural. Thank you!

Oil… have you notice if it create oily spots on the paper? After all gouache is a water soluble paint, not oil.

Thanks for the information. I’ve been stalling using gouache because of the storage issue, I’ll try this.

How long can you keep it on that airtight plastic palette? Weeks, months? I have my gouache on tubes bec I hardly use it. Glad to know that a drop of alcohol on each one helps prevent molds. Great tip. Thank you. Another thing that i learned fr one artist, using that same airtight palette to store gouache, keep it in the fridge and no mold will appear.

Ah, interesting, I had exactly the same experience than you but with a Schmincke Ivory black (even if there is biocide in it) two weeks ago. I'm indeed afraid that all my Colors are now contaminated and wonder if I should scrape it all. I see no signs of problem but… well, spores, who knows. And I don't want to paint art pieces with contaminated paints, I don't want an art piece to grow mold on it in 2 years from now. I see that it happened to you most than 2 years ago. What happened with your other colours finally? Have you had other mold problems in this palette? Have you seen any damage on your art pieces since then? What follow up can you give? Do you indeed advise me just to scrap my black and keep using my other colours? Thank you

Because not all things are made equal, got a link for that airtight container? 😁 Ove seen similar ones with bad reviews. So if this one is working for you, I’d like the one. Thank you!

I got the same air tight palette from Amazon and it works. Not sure if it's the same brand I have but it works for me. They have several of those same air tight palettes on amazon. I have 2 of those and my gouache and watercolor is still wet. I need to get another one for my poster colour paint.

Thank you for your video. I am new new gouache and have bought containers similar (or the same) as the two solutions you feature here. I'm wondering if you could speak to your experience of best practices RE: maintaining/ cleaning these containers as I'd imagine eventually mold could develop if you don't follow a cleaning routine periodically. Thanks again! :)
