I react to "Samo mi se spava" by Luke Black, one of the songs in the Serbian National final to choose their song for Eurovision 2023, which will be held in Liverpool, UK in May.

He's basically saying he just wants to sleep forever while the world is burning, because he likes it better when he dreams. With everything that's going on all over the world right now, I really felt that.

It gets even better once you process the lyrics. It's about the world burning, him not being sure whether he is being controlled as if he were a character in a video game, and just wanting to escape to the comfort of his dreams. There is also a hint of struggle with inner demons. Here it goes, a mix of English & Serbian with translation:

you are anything but easily impressed. i knew you would like it. there is no song that can be serious competition to this one, but there is an artist that can. his name is Gzipsii. the song is not the best in the selection but I think the guy is very talented and we can expect a lot from him in the future.
The song is about nihilism. Samo mi se spava translates to I feel sleepy all the time.
He sings about wanting to sleep while the world burns. The Serbian lyrics talk about there being war, famine, despair, but he just can’t be bothered with any of it and just wants to go to sleep. He feels complete apathy and a sense of detachment.
The song is a critique of the youth since young people have good ideals and principles that they strive for, but are just too lazy and nihilistic to actually follow through and do anything to change their own life, let alone the world.
Also, a lot of people are surprised, but he’s actually 31 and has been doing music for ten years with some long breaks due to university and Covid, so he should be experienced enough to deliver this live.
P.S. The lobster represents reincarnation. And Ivanovic is a very common last name in Serbia. He isn’t related to Ana haha.

People playing games young generation , doing nothing world is burning, Luke is waking up and zombies are around(gamers) he is waking them up to act breaks cables etc..dooo something!!!!!
His song talks about the desire to escape from the madness of this world through a dream. At the same time, he feels that something is controlling him, like in a video game, and he doesn't want to stay in that state. That robot in the background represents that. So at the end he shuts down the dancers and this robot dies, it says 'ENEMY DEFEATED' at the end. The message is to wake up, it is a collective awakening. It's a pity that this boy will be abused by people from Serbia who are not even close to him in terms of talent, education, intelligence, or character...and I feel sorry for those people.

Samo mi se spava means I just want to sleep. Hopefully he wins. Another song that is also interesting is Presidente with Turkish ballydance touch. Zumi Zimi Zami Is third song that's popular because of new Hurricane group.
As someone who unfortunately couldn't stand Konstrakta's song last year (just didnt click at all), I quite like this. Atm I'm not as obsessed with it as ive seen others been (I've seen some ppl including Alesia Michelle talk of this potentially winning), but its very intriguing. I love dark pop, it has elements of Victoria's Ugly Cry, Kristian Kostov's Welcome to the show (that sinister Halloween like sound) and its a bit on the cooky/quirky side which normally , I'm not the biggest fan of but I'm not put off by this really at all.
I will say though, like the reaction I had with Blanca's song, I feel like I need to see it live to fully get it, coz atm, its a vibe but (for example) I prefer Vesna's song so I need a visual to sort of push it that extra bit further but tbh, this feels like the visual will only make it even more epic, like Eaea.
Even though I like this genre of music (although perhaps less quirky), I'm not sure if this is the type of song I'd have on repeat (again like Eaea), I think others would be able to listen to it on repeat but I think I need the staging to fully go, ah got it.
Your opinion in okay... I would say that I did not like Vesna, or even less when I saw live performance... Its almost the same we already seen .
