- The BBC has found new evidence of the increasing control and suppression of Islam in China's far western region of Xinjiang - including the widespread destruction of mosques.
Authorities provided rare access to religious sites and senior Islamic officials to support their claim that their policies only target violent religious extremism, not faith itself.
But after his official tour was over, the BBC's China correspondent John Sudworth set out to investigate.

Nobody else seems to be willing to do anything about religion's spread, so it's up to China to do what others don't want to.
Just like Europe and US Muslims activist give reasons for the government getting involved. The solution is pure dictatorship and should be noted by those who think all is OK with their government. You are perceived as a problem to this government, there may be zero facts you are actually causing any problems, you and the perceived problem will be eliminated in some way. All the worst corners of the 20th century are possible there, with very few people needed to put something in motion given the right circumstances.

As a Christian, if I found a Koran, (even if it was damaged) I would try to find a Muslim or a Mosque to return it to.

In fact it's true that there are many muslims in China specifically the Hui and Uighurs minorities, but one thing to be sure of is that China would NEVER become an Islam country or somehow islamized under some circumstance, it'll still never be a religious one, Islam will be sinicized by the Chinese. I'm spreading out this information from a strictly Chinese's perspective as me being a Chinese myself, First off, the ugly side of Chinese culture is that no matter you're Christian, Muslim, Buddhists, Taoists, we ranked Money and prestige over all other things including Gods, we prayed to our own beliefs oftenly is asking for more money and fame, which dignity and even gods could be thrown away completely when it comes to selecting between them. Christianity is on the rise in China, which is a clear trend as proven by Wikipedia sources, but I too don't see it to become a reality where it roses to becoming a Christian nation, persecutions and government pressure aside, it is the sole cultural beliefs and consensus built by the Chinese passed down from the ancestors, religion would never be our priority list to look forward in life. Second of that is that although there are good islamic teachings like the donating 2% of income to the poor and ramadhan to reflect the poor living experiences, but I could 100% assure u this would not be popularised even if Chinese were to converted to Islam, cause our cultural beliefs love money so much that we see nothing prioritise over them, Ramadhan which would affects our earning capabilities and capacity? Hack no, that's why I pinpointed that even if we were to become an Islamic state these teachings were meant to be abolished, maybe we can chg the contents of the QURAN lol ( no offense, but that's what The chinese would do) If Islam must to come to China it must accept it's fate of sinicization, where certain practices must be changed, like Ramadhan, the charity system and Most importantly, Consumption of pork, PORK in fact is not seen as just mere meat in Chinese culture, it is seen as the sign luxurious and wealth, Pork far outweighs the other meat when it comes to Chinese taste preference. Nothing can outbeats pork, so in short We might be willing to give up on Alcohol (which is fine for me, I don't drink) but please no one's gonna take away pork from our dieting menu, if Islam was to be able to make some compromise over there, I'm well at it haha the same were to be said to other Chinese I think. One more thing is the 5 times prayers thingy, I can 100% assure that will not be happening as Chinese are already complaining there are not enough time to earn money, rather than spending so much time praying which would not help economically, best case scenario is that maybe we can just pray in our mind for that requirement? So ya for conclusion if there weren't so many resteictions in Islam, Chinese would consider on joining them as well, just my 2 cents, have a nice day.
