" extremely expensive" would be an understatement... It's $3,200 USD. That is quite frankly insane. Or Watercool), put liquid metal on it, EK rad/fittings/tube/FLT pump res combo, Phanteks T30 fans and fluid for less than this AND it would perform considerably better.

That 4090 Matrix is absolutely stunning... But I don't think can justify another $1400 over the MSI Suprim Liquid X. I can admire the 4090 Matrix from your video, great job! Also, the 4090 Matrix would look absolutely SICK with the O11D Evo Upright kit! If you ever do non SFF builds give that a try - the MSI Suprim Liquid X already looks great in the upright configuration. I had wished that the Suprim's cooling tubes would point down like it does in the Matrix.
really, very elegant gpu, but it has the same performance as others, if I take a normal gpu and put a block, I will get a better result and I will save a lot of money
also given its proprietary design maintenance and repair would be a nightmare. a competent gamer with proper tools could service his own air cooled gpu at least for fans coolers and heat sink, basic soldering etc. this thing? forget about it lol. For the ultra rich idgaf l33t gamers I suppose.
Yet this is a pretty massive design that only got an additional 3 percent in frames over stock. The other side of the spectrum can look how small a cooler can be with undervolting. This has already been done hundreds of times before. I much rather buy a 4090 that's uses less power in a smaller formfactor.
I am always a bit sceptical about the longevity of these AIO liquid cooled GPUs. Unlike CPU coolers which are separate things, these are bolted onto the gpu and probably all proprietary. Worse yet these go onto the most powerful and expensive GPUs
I've had an AIO cooled GPU (EVGA 2070 Super XC Hybrid Gaming) for four years and it's been great. Still running cool, still amazingly quiet. It'll definitely last until I replace it in the next year or two.

When I think "full coverage" I think water channels over the components. Not just a plate of metal that is cooled by a separate part that's cooled by water. Like the difference between a back plate, a backplate with thermal pads, and an active backplate.
The massive power consumption and consequently the massive heat produced by these things is madness. Unless you have an air-conditioned room or live in a cold climate these things make the room intolerable. In warmer weather, summer, spring, I certainly do not need the extra heat, and given power charges the extra costs, of 500watt heater running. These radiator coolers keep the gpu temp tolerable, but only by pushing all that heat into the room. Time to give up PC gaming I guess.
I bought a water cooled Aorus 3080 2 years ago. Some of the games that I like have become quite demanding so I decided to overclock the cpu, (also water cooled) and the GPU. Almost no increase in running temperatures. Very happy with it.
More FPS is not always positive. 4:10 For just 3% more FPS you have 10% higher powerusage. With undervolting you get ~80FPS with around 250W or less. As a sideeffect coilwhine, temps and fanspeed are lower. So you won't need an expensive cooler. At some point you just lose efficiency and that is what I don't like. I tested my 4090FE and between 300W and 450W was 5-7% performance. Between 300W and 600W was just 10-12% performance. With some FPSenhancing tools like DLSSQ and FG (with which I don't see any difference) and a 120FPS-Limit (which is my OLED refreshrate) my 4090 doesn't always hit 100% load. So I undervolt to reduce the powerusage and to lessen the heat in my room and make it more quiet.
I didn't notice the RGB in the CES/Computex coverage! Wow this looks really cool! I wonder if the warranty is good for this liquid thermal grease? If I had extra money to burn I'd get this card, but I'm happy with my RTX 3080 Ti FTW3
Good luck getting positive airflow if you already got a AIO for your CPU, in my opinion you would want AIO's to be setup as exhaust, which would make it hard to get positive airflow with 2 360mm radiators.
I use the MSI Suprim X Liquid, and even under full load-whether it's during benchmarking, 3D rendering, or crypto mining-it never exceeds 45°C. The results shown in this video with 57°C or 68°C might be inaccurate, or perhaps the pump, fans, or radiator were not properly configured.
The card by itself looks like a sick SFF build.
mhm might as well cut in pieces a tinyATX that goes around it and wire all the traces lol
FE 4090 with a waterblock is only 236mm/9.3in which is a fantastic option that is significantly cheaper than most 4090 AIO options.

As an owner of the Suprim X Liquid 4090, I am happy with my purchase. Would be cool to see a max overclock of the system.
Watching your vids makes my kidney ache out of fear of some shady deals I might end up be making for a GPU that won't even last me that long
I sold three kidneys to buy a 4090
the first few seconds were a blessing for my eyes
That 4090 Matrix is absolutely stunning... But I don't think can justify another $1400 over the MSI Suprim Liquid X. I can admire the 4090 Matrix from your video, great job!
Also, the 4090 Matrix would look absolutely SICK with the O11D Evo Upright kit! If you ever do non SFF builds give that a try - the MSI Suprim Liquid X already looks great in the upright configuration. I had wished that the Suprim's cooling tubes would point down like it does in the Matrix.
really, very elegant gpu, but it has the same performance as others, if I take a normal gpu and put a block, I will get a better result and I will save a lot of money
for the amount of extra effort I don't think 10C would justify the 2x price tag and probably double the weight and size of standard 4090 card./..
also given its proprietary design maintenance and repair would be a nightmare. a competent gamer with proper tools could service his own air cooled gpu at least for fans coolers and heat sink, basic soldering etc. this thing? forget about it lol. For the ultra rich idgaf l33t gamers I suppose.
Considering how massive coolers are getting I’m not sure this is overkill. Feels like someday this will be standard.
Yet this is a pretty massive design that only got an additional 3 percent in frames over stock. The other side of the spectrum can look how small a cooler can be with undervolting. This has already been done hundreds of times before. I much rather buy a 4090 that's uses less power in a smaller formfactor.
As always love the video, but also the hair is looking amazing!
I do not even care about GPU updates or anything related anymore.. still cant stop myself from clicking your vids. The quality and storytelling is just too captivating. nice ring you have there btw ;)
The look is definitely amazing. I really don't like the current designs for GPU blocks, most come from the top and on sff is ruins some builds.

I- I don't know how to describe this feeling I got watching this video, especially at this part. I just... that thing looks amazing, and I, along with everyone else, dream for the day we can install one of those
Opti is an actual goat. Solo creator with this prod quality, jacked af and has a tastefully modded car. ACTUALLY who I want to be when I grow up.
Fr bro
Also, dont forget on top of that hes ACCUALY a good gamer😊
@@philippeckardt1163Yes! And when I met him few days ago, he even took his time for a little smalltalk while healing at least two blind children. Will never forget that
Isn’t that how any man who has his shit together looks like? You take care of your health and manage your finances, and passionate about something you enjoy doing, it’s really that simple, you can spend time learning and creating or waste your life looking and admiring others, the choice is yours.
The channel rebrand looks very clean.
Edit: like putting a dot at the end of a comment.
Yeah, that's definitely an engineer's passion project right there. Looks very classy, might even become a collectors item.
GOAT of Editing. Love you
Despite the FE being the loudest card out of these 3, it has by far the most pleasant sound profile and makes the impression of being the quietest
The only sound you're hearing with the MSI Liquid is the coil whine, which goas away after a month of usage. (My guess is this specific MSI Liquid was kept on a shelf and not used that much, so it still has coil whine)
What a gorgeous piece of work! Not talking about the GPU but the aesthetics of the room!!! Braaaavo!
wow, I really like the aesthetic of the card! not goofy ROG STRIX type stuff, but clean
This video gave me the best RUclips meal. You made my evening.
I'm a simple man: I see ASUS products, I don't buy them.
LOL
Amazing video as always ! Thank you 😉
mom please i need this for studying
Just ordered one, should be delivered this Friday, and I....CAN'T WAIT!
Dude that thing costs more then my Pc... and my monitor... and my chair... and my... Yeah so that costs more then my entire setup lol.
the most beautiful gpu I've ever seen 🔥
The design is great, but one aspect of watercooling is that you can end up with a smaller card suited for sff builds. This is not exactly space saving. And I'd have liked to see a comparison with a properly blocked 4090 using a heatkiller block.
This is a commercial, not a review. He's trying to sell it and highlight it's most positive aspects, not objectively look at it. People seemed to not realize most RUclipsrs are advertising, not reviewing.
@@mangaas he is not sponsored, and buys every item he reviews, or makes videos of, himself. This is a review no matter how you look at it - the depth at which he goes into reviewing it is another story. In no way did I feel like he was trying to sell me into this product, he just showcased a new, cool, pretty overkill product.
i can only imagine this thing would look absolutely sick in a vertical mount setup in a case like an 011D
It's $4000, the ASUS ROG GeForce RTX 4090 Matrix Platinum is $4000!
By the time it reaches your country, if you're in the EU, it'll be $5000. I think I'll prefer to be able to pay my rent for the next 6 months instead.
dude your camera work is amazing for real
If I had $3200 to spare I would buy this in a heartbeat. It’s gorgeous
Hard agree
just a 6 minutes of pure video quality enjoyment
When I think "full coverage" I think water channels over the components. Not just a plate of metal that is cooled by a separate part that's cooled by water. Like the difference between a back plate, a backplate with thermal pads, and an active backplate.
This graphics card is looking clean as f**k! Great vid!
no longer "optimum tech" but now "optimum" everything. optimum tech, optimum car, optimum lift? 👀
Optimum wife?
That's probably why he renamed his channel to simply optimum.
Cool but 3200$ oww, could get a 4080 pc for that.
Ah, another 4090: "Who needs kidneys, really" edition.
Please someone tell me what a music from 2:30 :(
OVER..PRICED LOL😊
I think it is overpriced but I think it’s more of a flex than a value for the money part still dope tho
I bought a water cooled Aorus 3080 2 years ago. Some of the games that I like have become quite demanding so I decided to overclock the cpu, (also water cooled) and the GPU. Almost no increase in running temperatures. Very happy with it.
WOW, what an overkill GPU, for all the $$$ and is going to give you a 7 to 11 fps boost... Like always the freeloader RUclipsrs... 🤣
Was thinking about it that when you'll be posting this! Lol, thanks a lot💖💖💖
Man that bass when he showcases the looks of the matrix. whoosh!
I didn't notice the RGB in the CES/Computex coverage! Wow this looks really cool! I wonder if the warranty is good for this liquid thermal grease? If I had extra money to burn I'd get this card, but I'm happy with my RTX 3080 Ti FTW3
That mouse click you're using as you highlight various data points was 🤌🤌🤌
is there a small factor case that could fit the ROG Matrix?
will you be building or show casing one in a future video?
Love the fact that you've opened gpu, I was curious how it looked inside, thanks
I heard the bare copper could cause problems with the liquid metal, der8auer covered this in his Video about the matrix
I think it's funny that the MSRP isn't mentioned because it's so absurd
Song name at 2:30 ❓️❓️❓️
At 6:09 when he is tilting the GPU on its pins… this hurts my soul lol
Good luck getting positive airflow if you already got a AIO for your CPU, in my opinion you would want AIO's to be setup as exhaust, which would make it hard to get positive airflow with 2 360mm radiators.
“It doesn’t matter how good you are, just how long you sit there for” - this completely summarises the car levelling system.
I use the MSI Suprim X Liquid, and even under full load-whether it's during benchmarking, 3D rendering, or crypto mining-it never exceeds 45°C. The results shown in this video with 57°C or 68°C might be inaccurate, or perhaps the pump, fans, or radiator were not properly configured.
at 2:38 what's the song name?
I am a simple man, I see optimum, I upvote, I watch, I wait for another video.
