Good video! The difference in the Sea star VS Bay star is this. Better hoses The Helm is compatible with autopilot or a second station Bulkier stronger steering ram.
Thanks for the info, theses systems are pricy and getting real feedback is very useful. Curious to know if you have completed the install and test this SeaStar since you removed the BayStar ?
Just picked up my 822 yesterday and took it out to break it in. The Mercury 115 pro x seems to be fine on mine but I would like to do this kit on mine just for the fact of pulling tubes and want not I can deal with the cable drive under just normal driving but feel it will be better with this steering when pulling a tube etc? I’d also like to get the under skin kit to help with the splashing even though mine got the 3/4 middle log. What’s your thoughts
I would definitely like to have the splash guards or under-skin kit. I feel waves hitting under my feet often and also feel like it would make the floor last longer staying dry. Mine does not have it but my brothers boat does. It makes a big difference.
I really didn’t care for the cable drive. Mine was always stiff and it would wear you out trying to pull a tube. It is a lot better with the hydraulic steering.
@@joshdoesreefing7241 yea going to check into adding the under skin this winter along with the hydraulic steering unless it’s cheaper for me to upgrade to the 8522 mirage with all that stuff on it.
My biggest regret is not going up a model to get the following: 1. Hydraulic steering 2. Splash guard/under skin 3. 150hp Engine I could have gotten all of those on the next model up. I thought at the time I didn’t need them and figured I would save the money, but now regret it.
What HP engine do you have? I have a 90 HP on my pontoon and the steering is stiff. Would the Seastar work on a 90 HP or do I need to go with the Baystar?

Yes, the SeaStar is working fine. It does not overly impress me for the money, but is better than cable drive steering.
