- Create sweet little note books, sketch pads or artists books as wonderful presents for yourself or others using this step by step tutorial. Showcasing Cane No.64, you can use it to create wonderful patterns on the front cover in polymer clay. I have made heart shaped booklets, but you can create whatever shape you like, so sit back, relax, and watch as I show you how, then have some fun and make your own.
The music from the video is English Country Garden by Aaron Kenny and Waterfall by Aakash Gandhi, both available from the RUclips Free Audio Library.

The Heart Template is downloadable from my Website here, scroll down to the bottom of the page to find it - fionaabel-smit... and is free for you to use - but please do not copy/sell/teach using the template without my express permission. The hearts on the PDF are a little smaller than the one I used in the project as I wanted to be able to get 4 on a page for you to print multiple copies if necessary, so just change the size to your preference.
Polymer Clay is oven baked, always follow the manufacturer’s instructions for the brand of clay you are using.
I used FIMO Soft Polymer Clay, but all well-known brands of polymer clay will work well for this project. I used ¼ oz (7g) of the blend colours, and 2 oz (56g) of the outline/background colour.
For the second design I showed, I used White/Lilac/Purple, Lemon Yellow/Sunflower Yellow/Indian Red, Brilliant Blue/Peppermint/White and Emerald Green/Soft Green Mix/White and the background/outline colour was Black.
I used a Pasta Machine dedicated to Polymer Clay use to create blends and condition the clay. My Pasta Machine is an Atlas 180, and it has setting 0 as its thickest and 9 as its thinnest. There is a standard way of calculating the thickness of clay required, by using stacked playing cards. On my machine the thicknesses are as follows: Setting 0 = 8 playing cards, setting 1 = 7, setting 2 = 6, setting 3 = 5, setting 4 = 4, setting 5 = 3, setting 6 and 7 = 2, setting 8 and 9 = 1 card.

Have fun with this one, and I cannot wait to see what you create.
Thank you so much for watching.
Before I watch, I am really addicted to you
Your notification gives great excitement and happiness ❤
Thank you, fingers crossed then 😉🙃🙂
Ayayoya, I know the feeling. Fiona’s caring disposition and very specific instructions show just how important it is for her to share these things she’s worked through. Addiction to someone who cares, I say! Add to that a great sense of color, the ability to thoroughly work through her designs and of course a fantastic amount of experience.
Thank you so much @@boa1793 🙂

Oh wow! The queen of canes strikes again! I am so impressed with your ability to envision what you want and translate it into canes. I’m hoping that since I’m fairly new to polymer clay (not even a full year yet) I’ll be able to figure it out with more experience, and I can think of no better teacher than you.
I now know what my best friend is going to get for Christmas - a handmade notebook 😊 Thank you for the idea, inspiration, and for sharing your hard work and extreme talent 😍

Could it have been Susan Bailey, from Turtle Soup? Susan is the only one that I have seen make the handle on her needle tool.
Possibly, although I am pretty sure it was someone I did an in person workshop with, and sadly I haven't had the chance to do that with Susan 🙂
Olá tudo bem faz de leaf
Muito obrigado 🙂
