For real. She needs to be writing movies in Hollywood. Her understanding is on a different level. It's stuff you aren't even necessarily seeing or thinking about that she completely breaks down!
In my opinion, watching this movie multiple times I came to the conclusion that Mia was in love with Harper but she settled for Lance because Harper didn't feel the same way for her. That's also why she felt no remorse for having sex with Harper because she always had feelings for him even though she was in a relationship with lance.
Look at what Q says to Harper after his speech. He said, “I’m proud of you.” That signifies the fact that he is proud of him finally owning his flaws and becoming a man.
I don't think Harper was jealous of Lance, because Harper was known in the group as the serial monogamist. So it wasn't like Harper wasn't getting any women whatsoever
Shelby was always that way. That wasn't on Merch. The reason we know that was always her is how the whole crew knew her behavior and nothing really changed. The manipulation move to make Merch go with her shopping or whatever it was. They all saw it coming.
Merch and Shelby been together since College. My assumption is he had a hard time changing the dynamics of the relationship once he was in it. Actually both of them couldn't/wouldn't change the way they saw each other. They had a grown College relationship that was stuck and nobody wanted to leave.
23:34 Nah !!! Why would she tell her man she cheated ? He got caught all through college because of who he was !! Phone calls, paternity tests and whatnot . She got tired of the bullshit and decided to get revenge. The revenge that would’ve stayed low if it wasn’t for HARPER PILLOW TALKING with his book.
Yall was all off homie! Sanna character was the MVP! Without her Harper fails, then she calms Mia down at the wedding and by her giving Harper another chance he was able to get Lance over that broom!! REAL MVP ROBIN!
Wow!! You guys did a great review on this movie delving deep into the characters and their motivations. You each have strong opinions and are able to convey them with precision. Keep it up!!!
It's one thing to see Jah and Jae have great chemistry on screen.......it's another thing to see them off screen do the same thing. Id like to see them in person one day 💯💯
I am officially a fan. Great idea. Love the adult conversations over the classic movies the culture cares about. Jay killed it this episode. I was with cuz that homie was a buster too. She changed my mind.
Well theres a difference. He had to forgive Mia because he did some foul shit during the relationship it would have been hypocrite of him to not forgive her. But Harper on the other hand was suppose to be his best friend and Harper didnt have any reason to betray him the way he did and then write a book about it? Thats some twisted shit
@@brothaman612 He most def did but as his brother you just gotta charge it to the game and move on. Lance was a dog with the girls but he always did right by Harper
Loooooved this one. Please bring Jade back as a reoccurring guest. Loved hearing everyone's opinion and y'all gel extremely well together. I'd love you three tho do a thin line between love and hate. Also love and basketball. I'd love to hear y'all's opinions from men and women on both movies. Love y'all
I never hit the like button before I watch a video on RUclips, but with these I hit it every time before because I already know the video is going to be dope. Keep em coming 💯
Listening to Jae, I can see why her skits are so good. I'm not a sapiosexual but she has a beautiful mind. I hope she will be a recurring guest or a permanent member of this podcast.
Great great break down!! You guys had me fully involved in this convo as though I was just sitting right out of view of the cameras!!🤣😂 Thanks for having Lady Jae on this. Checked it Brown Sugar first on a long ride, and when you all mentioned that you'll send out the Blackbusters' signal for this one ... I had to follow up on it!! Keep doing what you guys are doing!!💯💯 I always look forward to the next episode!! 💯💯
My man Merch wasn't a buster Jah, he was just a unapologetically different brutha. Which is cool...if you know your lane and stay in it you deserve respect in my book. A buster is someone who acts like something they are not...a square that acts like a gangsta for example ..."BUSTER"
Right! There's a dangerously intoxicating woman for every man on earth. For him to be sure of who he was and wear it confidently shows that he wasn't a buster. Shelby may have been a Dream Girl for him, but candy was his heart and when you find that heart.....the dream girl is outta here!
I loved your female reviewer's intellect. I didn't TOTALLY agree with her assessments, but enjoyed listening to her reasoning. Celeste, in the A-T-L ☘️
If y’all can pull it off scheduling wise, THIS WOULD BE A DOPE PERMANENT TRIO! You can still have a special guest every now & then. And you always have a female perspective & someone for a female guest to vibe with. Idk, but I love the pcast & especially this episode.
Aye Jah, man just gone head and lock in Jade and Tone as a permanent cast. I've binge-watched every episode over the past 6 days. Yall chemistry is unmatched. Only have other ppl on when they can't make it. This is some dope ass criticism on black movies and I'd love to see yall do shows too. Keep up the good content, I love and respect each and every one of yall man!!
I am loving your guys’ breakdown of these movies. It makes viewers watch these movies differently. Harper should have never revealed he got in on with Mia in his book knowing how Jordan & Quentin were. Fun Facts: Morris Chestnut & Monica Calhoun were also in the Ernest Green story. Morris Chestnut & Nia Long were also in Boyz N The Hood. Taye Diggs & Sanaa Lathan were also in The Wood & Brown Sugar. Sanaa Lathan & Regina Hall were also in Disappearing Acts & Love Basketball. Sanaa Lathan, Regina Hall & Monica Calhoun were also in Love & Basketball. Morris Chestnut & Sanaa Lathan were also in The Perfect Guy. Taye Diggs & Regina Hall were also in Malibu’s Most Wanted. Morris Chestnut & Regina Hall were also in When The Bough Breaks. Morris Chestnut & Melissa Desouza were ex husband & wife on Our Kind Of People. The cast of this movie, Omar Epps, Larenz Tate, Jamie Foxx & Gabrielle Union were the busiest actors & actresses in the late 90s & early 2000s. They were in over 90 percent of black movies during that time. Harper’s proposal was out of guilt & not genuine. He shouldn’t have done it at the Wedding reception. Fun Facts: Malcolm Lee is the cousin of Spike Lee. The original name of the movie was My Homeboy’s Wedding & Malcolm tried to get to released before The Wood.
Out all the male characters of TBM I aspire to be like Quentin , I love his blunt , take or leave it persona , he knows he has options to skate through life or Be an Overachiever !
When Q grabbed Merch's phone when candy asked to see his phone and threw that shit on the floor,I forgave that nigga for absolutely everything. Great friend
Its women like Robin in real life that typically arent as beautiful as Sanaa Lathan , but have a the other attributes of a wife , jae made an excellent point !
Another great episode! These breakdowns and debates are so though provoking and have influenced me to rewatch these movies with more scrutiny which makes me fall in love with them again. Highlight of the episode: Jae is bad af 😍🤤
Exactly.... All of them think quitting is messed up in the head it's because he's up front and honest about all the dirt he has done so you won't have anything on him but you look at him as a messed up in the visual cuz you know everything about him
I am finally on the same page with Big Brother Mike😊 with changing my initial opinion on Quintin’s character in this movie. Have y’all considered reviewing Eve’s Bayou? It’s not considered a classic in the black community, but it’s really good and I’d love hear y’all’s perspective on it.
Great podcast!!!!!!! you guys should have a female queen on every podcast and the way that you guys broke the best man down I never thought about it in that fashion. I have a few black cinema suggestions “The Hitter” starring Ron O Neal and Adolf Ceaser(Mistas father oh the Color Purple). It’s a goodie Thank you for your podcast
He didn't need to sit Harper down and say that because he already knew... If you remember he said it brought up some old memories... That's why Harper never really wanted him with the book because Quinton already knew what happened
Jade is wrong "respectfully" Jordan did not know until her and harper was in the store and she saw his face talking about Mia. Q knew all along he told harp "the frintal lobe shorty" and harp shoots him down...... Harp is trash for writing the book
To answer Jahh's question under the circumstances of the movie you have to just take L and move on with your married life. You can't have an ego after you trampled on hers multiple time and her indiscretion was decades ago.
Mia get back isn't the fact that she cheated... Her get back is Lance doesn't know... She doesn't choose Harper because that's Lance's friend... She chose Harper because it was easier... And she knew he had no motivation in telling Lance
If the category is least valuable. I have to give it to Robin. You take her out of this movie, the whole foundation still remains the same. The only thing different is the guilt Harper and Jordan would have had after hooking up wouldn't be there. But Harper would still have to take his L's, he'd likely still realize Jordan ain't the one for him, and he'd actually come out the ultimate lover because Robin wouldn't be there for him to "Get the Girl" so to speak. He'd have to wallow in his losses. Robin is there so Harper has a happy ending.
Mia never tell Jordan what happened between her and Harper because she always knew that Jordan wanted to be with Harper although Harper never let himself fall for Jordan because he couldn't control Jordan... If you remember the bathroom scene with Mia and Jordan be your realizes then Jordan might know but to show her flaw she still doesn't say anything
When you really look at it... There wasn't a time that Harper didn't write about Lance in his life... In college he wrote about Lance this book that put him on a map it was about Lance the book that brought him back in best man holiday was about Lance
Only thing I wish y’all would’ve spoke on. The scene where Lance comes to Harper’s room crying. Harper acts off as if he recently smashed Mia. That’s the way I saw it. Curious what y’all thought.
It's like Harper said in the movie. They were supposed to be married before the book comes out. The reason he set it up that way it's because Lance is all about his God and his Bible. So you know he would have forgave Mia and stayed married. But if it comes out before he gets married Lance can still forgive me and not marry her. He had it set up so he can air his dirty laundry but not be the villain
Appreciate y'all tappin in! What other movies would y'all like to see us review?!?

Merch and Shelby been together since College. My assumption is he had a hard time changing the dynamics of the relationship once he was in it. Actually both of them couldn't/wouldn't change the way they saw each other. They had a grown College relationship that was stuck and nobody wanted to leave.
Mia definitely knew what she was doing by cheating with harper. She said she knew what she was doing and chose him on The best man holiday.
