THE ORIGIN OF THE WORLD CUP

The FIFA WORLD CUP, is the second sporting event that accumulates the most expectation in front of television, only behind the Olympic Games.
The Origin of the World Cup could be said to have started at the same time as FIFA emerged back in 1904 when they already had in mind to create a global competition. But it was not until 1928 when that first idea took shape.
In those years, the highest level soccer could be seen in the Olympic Games but the committee decided to dispense with soccer for the LOS ANGELES event in 1932. In fact, Soccer would not return to the Olympics until Berlin 1936.
The FIFA Congress held in Barcelona in 1929 laid the foundations for what would become known as the FiFA World Cup. It was decided that the first WORLD CUP would be in URUGUAY since it was the country that had won the last two editions of the Olympic Games (1924 and 1928).
Only 4 teams from the European continent traveled there, thanks to the efforts of FIFA President Jules Rimet.
The First World Cup in history would be played by 13 National Teams.
