Hi, Donald, its very handy, until I had that, I just used to pour water into my hand for Digger to drink out of, not very practical. With this I just need to squeeze the bottle to fill the cup and then release the squeeze to suck back in any unused water. great design.check them out at Lesotc.com
yeah, cheap and light weight tool that makes a big difference, no sticks or rocks getting under foot or damaging the tent and fire safety...gum leaves are full of oil and burn very easy. Bush fires are a big problem in Oz so I take many precautions, two fire extinguishers, a fire blanket, a fire bucket...and of course, a rake to help prevent it in the first place 👍
Thank for another great clip. Those salmon rissoles look delicious and I like the hammock setup too. The hammock blooper at the end was a funny final touch
Thanks, Peter! Your the 2nd person to think it was salmon, lol it was slow cooked, pulled beef, flavoured with Mexican spices, leftover from when I made some burrito’s at home. Yeah, the hammock is a great addition to the set up but the timber poles are long and don’t quite fit neatly in the ute, I might have to get one of the soft type, hammocks. Thanks for watching all the way to the end…the blooper is a little Easter egg for those that do👍
Thanks, Jill. I recommend the chairs, they are very comfy and recline all the way back. There is a lock under the arm rests to fix them at whatever angle you want...I've fallen asleep in them a few times! 😀
Thank you, Patrick, I actually lost some footage that would have made some sequences better, it was a little frustrating but I made it the best I could with what I had...Its still taking me two full days to edit, I hope I get quicker soon!

Thanks, Kenn, I don't mind camping in the rain, in fact its quite nice if its not too much, not windy and not cold. Most of the time in Oz its too hot for camping but this forest had the perfect amount of shade. I'll definitely be going back there 👍
I often joke, I should have called him Wolf, he likes to find himself a lair, he is always in or under something...the car, a table, my bed, and now he's found himself a new spot in the tent!
Hi, Bernice, thank you for commenting! Winter will be here soon enough! No plans to go to NZ. I’ve been before, it’s the most beautiful country I’ve been too. I hiked all through the South Is. absolutely stunning!
It never ceases to intrigue me why would someone watch a video with ‘Relaxing in the forest’ in the title then complains that it’s not ‘challenging’ enough? 🤣
Another great video and it helped warm my cold Sunday morning here in the US Mountain West. Thank you! I had to chuckle ... I watched Jim Jefferies High and Dry last night. It was as hilarious as your videos are relaxing. Cheers!
Cheers, David, glad to hear I sent a little warmth your way. It was the perfect mix of warm sun in a shady forest...I was tempted to sleep outside on the hammock but Digger would have been difficult to sleep with like that! lol
Hi, Bernice, I love a hammock too but I had to switch over to one without spreaders…they are just a fraction too long to pack easily in the car. I do have a shower now. It’s an alloy tank bolted to the rear tool box. It’s 70lts and heated by the sun. There is a valve that allows me to add pressure. There’s a link to it in my most recent video descriptions, I don’t get commission from them…yet!😎
Hi mate. Enjoyed the video and th camping experience. What size are your boxes on the back? I'm thinking of going 2 side boxes and get rid of my gullwing cross box. Cheers. 👍
Hi, the boxes are 1450mm long, 850mm high and 550mm wide at the base. If I had my time again, I'd pay extra for the flat finish and paint, instead of the checker plate. Flat looks better and is a little easier to drill precisely...i've drilled all over the place attaching this and that!
Hi I have watched a couple of your trips now. It's just great to see how simple you keep things. Just bought a used RV3 and can't wait to get out. Do you change the set up for winter camps? You are definately your dogs best friend too. 👍😊
Hi, Lee, the Rv tents are great, I’m sure you’ll love the ease of set up and pack up. I make slight changes to my set up in most vids but only to test different angles etc but no particular change for winter…other than finding places that allow fires. I always have a bag with me that has thermal long johns and top, beanie, jumper, thick socks and a hot water bottle!…even in summer, it’s just part of my kit and you never know!
Thanks, Louis, I just got back from another trip, I'll have it up by Sunday night. The gazebo is 4.5mx3m I had a 3mx3m for ages but I got the 4.5m so I could hang a 3mx3m mesh/tent and still have room outside of that for a kitchen area. Ive since changed from that set up when I got the oztent but it still gives me enough room to cover the entrance to the tent and leave enough room for the kitchen and outdoor seating. I would have got the 6mx6m but they come with an extra pair of legs and more weight. the 4.5 is a good compromise for what I want.
@The Portal thanks for replying, thought it was bigger than a 3x3, I've got a 6x3 and yes it's heavy, probably get rid of it, lov your videos, thanks for sharing 👍🏿
for a typical overnight trip I take a couple of litres of drinks in the esky plus one jerry can of just over 20L that I use for cooking, washing, putting out fires and emergencies but I have space to carry x4 jerry cans. I modified the car to be a long distance tourer but since starting this channel, I only do overnighters...big trip coming up soon though! I'm going to the other side of Australia in April to watch the Solar Eclipse!!
@@4X4CA I wish you a good trip! Be sure to record your trip. I also plan long distance cycling trips. It is cold here now, but as soon as it gets warmer, I will start traveling with overnight stays. By next year, when I gain experience, I will travel with overnight stays in the winter.
Thanks, I will definitely be recording that trip...I might even live stream the actual eclipse. I'm very much looking forward to it. I've wanted to see one since I was a child. When I travelled around the outback years ago, I came across several cyclists who where riding 1,000's of km with very little kit in all kinds of weather. Don't hesitate to get out there! good luck on your upcoming adventures!
hey mate - very nice clip and seemed to be better quality video (or my imagination🤣🤦♂), have you changed camera?? i think the only thing that would make this a perfect 10 from 10 would be a river or stream near by for Digger to have a splash. loved the salmon rissoles (I think they were salmon??) - would be perfect for an air fryer, I must remember to try them when my build is finished. Cheers
Hey, Steve I used the same camera...maybe the sun light coming through and bouncing off the tree's made the difference, compared to when its raining. I will aim for a 10/10 when Digger and I go to a river camping spot tomorrow! its quite far, so I'm going to stay for two nights and split the video into two parts. The meat was leftover pulled beef from some burrito's (did you not turn on captions?) I should burn into the video that captions are available...otherwise viewers have to notice a tiny 'CC' underneath the video title. I use an airfryer at home, great bit of kit but too large and power hungry for camping...leftovers make the best meals! enjoy!
hey mate, ok........maybe it was just that time of day or the particular light as you mentioned - was still nicely done, cool - look fwd to seeing the new clips, gee didn't look like beef but still looked delish - and no I didn't turn on the captions - had my eye focused on Digger and the camp set up, on the positive could still do salmon patties to make a burger or with salad, I just bought my first air fry - still waiting for it to be delivered, my fit out has extra 240 umff so I can run it and a single induction plate and coffee (not at the same time though) - three things that should make it a bit easier for this old man and his dog.
@@steve-deltasdad3906 the beef was slowed cooked and shredded and mixed with mexican spices for the burrito, but yeah, didn't look like regular beef 👍 I'd be interested to see your set up...always looking for good ideas!

Hi, Inga, yes, I plan where I will go and how to get there. Usually within a couple of hours of home and near water. There are a lot of spiders here but not necessarily big…compared to other countries.
