Thanks Dave, super useful! As an example of why would you like to layer in recordings on the loop record, that can be usefull if, for example, you are recording that loop from a live input deck with a mic and you are doing beatbox, you can do the kick, than layer an snare, then layer hats etc.
Thanks again D.A.V.E and ADSR. I'm going to dive into the crate today and make sure my tracks are gridded properly. This information is super helpful to me. Thank you! I wish I could have caught you live.
WOW, great show sir! I knew about 80% of your tutorial but it's always nice to get a refresh, can't wait to put the rest into practice. After 15 years as a vinyl Dj I moved to Serato Scratch Live (DVS) and thought it was the bizz, then a friend converted to Traktor and I never looked back! I still keep up to date with Serato DJ Pro (version 2.3.4.1547.) with the SL4 interface but the software can't compete. Traktor is way more powerfull, I just hope Traktor implements quantised HOT CUE beat division values (1/2 Beat, 1/4 Beat) Great for finger banging mash-ups on the fly. Denon SC, RekordBox & Serato has this feature so fingers crossed!
In using loop recorder, you ask why you should use the second recorder moment and create a layer build up. In using some effects and for example a mic to record your own voice to create a jingle. Some times you just have to wait to get that best possible result. Because of the time frame of the effect. So that is why I am using a second or even a third layer in loop recorder in combination with effects to put over your voice or make a really nice distortion. It needs some practice but I know you will catch my drift.
Just started using the s2mk3 controller with Traktor and these videos have taught me a lot more than any other tutorials etc. Hats off to you kind sir, keep up the good work))
Only just recently upped to Traktor 3 for the M3 MacBook Pro. Not recognising my audio interface. Gone through most of the troubleshooting on the NI website, blogs etc tried them and can’t see any reason why it’s not recognising it 🤷🏻
14 mins in and I think you’ve solved the issue I’ve had with beat gridding - I play a lot of funk and breaks and so many times I’ve had to decide not to play a track in my mix because it bounces all over the place. (I’m just a bedroom DJ, so I’m my only audience). Thanks man!
Hi DAVE, great tips as always. I do have a comment and a question. The comment is about plosives, can you please use a pop shield or EQ 100hz and below, thanks. The question is about remix decks for next week. I’m new to DJ-ing. How can I map the S2mk3 (the options are overwhelming and I don’t know what they do) , how can I map the pads and knobs to select the other remix deck samples in the other pages and layers of the same deck? And control the volume per sample independently? Finally the volume of the left vs right decks (C & D) also independently? Sorry for the long question.
ibleasse you’re dead right about the pop shield I was thinking about it as I was taking! With regards to midi mapping had over to my channel and check out some videos I have done in just that. Come say hi on there and I’ll be happy to help further.
Hi Dave thank you for this! Can you provide an overview of your live streaming set up (equipment/software needed + settings in traktor)? I facilitate meditation/breathwork/dance sessions and I’m looking to live stream music from traktor into my private zoom meetings as well as to Facebook. Is it possible to do it with just an audio interface, xlr mic, and traktor software? Thanks so much for your help!
Hello! I'am curious if you have some insight as to why Pro3 isn't showing the 'In/Out' buttons next the the 'Active' button? I've used Traktor for over 10 years and can't recall ever seeing this happen. Thanks for your time
Why did you move beatgrid from first cue point to position 7 or 8 ? If you want to have Load cue as first Cue point you can map Load cue as fist cue point and beatgrid remain in backgroud anyway.
Re: looper, looks to me that it’s simply overdubbing. To me, that’s great because you can layer different elements and effectively create a new track in the moment, the same way a loop musician would. In eurorack land, I would use a looper to extent the capabilities of my rig by working in this way. Basically building tracks by using the looper.
Did you tried Rekordbox 6 ? In RB you can setup each Loop to be Active , no need to press Active like in Traktor. Did you calculate waht time i need to check and save grids for 6000 tracks ? :)) ..... and where is Smart crates, Related tracks, Matching tracks in Traktor ? All these functions are mandatory when you speak about more than 6000 tracks in your Hard drive. Don’t judge wrong, I still use Serato Scratch Live by Rane , not Serato DJ because the poor quality sound. Now i test TraktorPro3.3 and RB6 and very hard decision. Pioneer invested more money in RB6 to be complet and perfect DJ software and they did it ...but you have to pay monthly fee 10-15 USD....just because CDJ from Pionners is a standard in all clubs. So, any commets ?
Dobrescu Bogdan im trying Traktor now coming from Rekordbox cause i hate subscription Plans and like the ideal of Traktor to Open up to all Mixers/soundcards! That is the way to Go!
You don't need a subscription plan to use rekordbox 6. You only need the plan for the special features of rekordbox 6. If you are using it in Export mode or basic performance mode, there is no subscription fee.
I understand it's crucial to beatgrid your tunes for a good mix, but if each track has to be done individually then it's going to take literally a "lifetime" to beatgrid every track in a 30,000 song library. I presume most DJs only beatgrid tracks they use regularly or arrange them as they add them to a play/prepare list?
Most people beatgrid the tracks as they buy them. For example, I'm buying 27 tracks shortly from Beatport, once I've downloaded them and dragged them into my track collection in Traktor I will then go through each track, assign a genre, beatgrid the track and put the tracks into specific playlists based on the energy of the track.
One of best Video I've ever saw about traktor, very good explained. Thank you

bedroom DJ,s are the best
@@francisthecooldownroad342 Agreed. I stopped club and pub DJing in 2005 but still play tunes and record mixes in my own room.

how can i see the key of the track and see the chance of the key like you have in the right side of each deck ?
Do you have a video talking about how to use MAP in setting CUEs?
Why did you move beatgrid from first cue point to position 7 or 8 ? If you want to have Load cue as first Cue point you can map Load cue as fist cue point and beatgrid remain in backgroud anyway.
What song is that?
Will I be able to drag my music folders from Traktor 2 to Traktor 3
Yes it searches your drives and adds them to your Traktor 3 library automatically.

Greeting to the host
Hey everyone i love this program but im having so much trouble with my equipment lately ....buzzing error shuts down randomly etc
Random shut down is likely due to bad connection on the usb socket. Known fault…….Just swapped mine out tonight!,
