If I didn't meet my soulmate, I would absolutely just stay happily single. My husband and I are both independent people with our own hobbies and lives but we've flowed well together for 20 years.
I have friends who get into relationships just for the sake of having someone there. That's always sounded like torture to me. Joyful solitude or joyful with soulmate... there's no inbetween.
People who are single at heart are not single because they did not find a soul mate. They are single because they are their own soul mate. Its ok if you are not single at heart. Some people are built to be part of a married couple and some are not. My being single at heart in no way implies that you being married is not good for you. Single people just want fair and equitable treatment, both socially and financially.
