    It’s kind of like when your masseuse starts putting crystals on your chakra points. You know it’s not real, but she believes in it and that’s kind of nice.

      How do you know it’s not real though we are sentient beings who‘s existence has yet to be explained who says other things don’t or can‘t exist either?

      @@PrettyGirlRock1115Russell's Teapot.
      _"Many orthodox people speak as though it were the business of sceptics to disprove received dogmas rather than of dogmatists to prove them. This is, of course, a mistake. If I were to suggest that between the Earth and Mars there is a china teapot revolving about the sun in an elliptical orbit, nobody would be able to disprove my assertion provided I were careful to add that the teapot is too small to be revealed even by our most powerful telescopes. But if I were to go on to say that, since my assertion cannot be disproved, it is intolerable presumption on the part of human reason to doubt it, I should rightly be thought to be talking nonsense. If, however, the existence of such a teapot were affirmed in ancient books, taught as the sacred truth every Sunday, and instilled into the minds of children at school, hesitation to believe in its existence would become a mark of eccentricity and entitle the doubter to the attentions of the psychiatrist in an enlightened age or of the Inquisitor in an earlier time."_
      - Bertrand Russell, 1952

      @PrettyGirlRock1115 In other words, the burden of proof is on the people claiming that Chakras exist, or that there is a connection between areas of the foot and the human body.

    Imagine reflexology was actually real. One barefoot walk across some gravel is either gonna throw your body all out of whack or be a wondertreatment.

      @@FernsHolisticASMRPeople don't "make their minds up" in a vacuum. They do it after critically evaluating the information they've been given. The commenter above made an excellent observation: the fact that walking across gravel barefoot doesn't have testable and reproducable effects is evidence that reflexology (while being wonderful ASMR!) is medically speaking, flagrant nonsense.

    • @joshuagordon4267
      @joshuagordon4267 2 месяца назад +7

      I wonder about that too. If applying gentle pressure on specific points can have an affect what does walking on them do? I just don't understand.

    • @aduckofsomesort
      @aduckofsomesort 2 месяца назад +6

      @@apokalypthoapokalypsys9573 you can in fact make up your mind about whether you find walking across gravel pleasant or not. Go do it right now. And then you’ll have your answer for yourself.

    Absolutely adore your channel Fern, your calm voice, warmth and empathy. I am really concerned about some of the language used in this video though, especially the description of reflexology as a science and the implication that it could be used in place of actual medicine to treat illness, particularly that a person with depression might forgo a visit to the GP.

    • @FernsHolisticASMR
      @FernsHolisticASMR  2 месяца назад +3

      Thank you for your comments and I really do appreciate the feedback. There will always be some controversy around certain holistic therapies and the argument around whether it is a simple science or not will continue. The brief introduction to reflexology, the benefits of reflexology and the suggested problem areas are taken from my reference texts. I do also state that Reflexology is not a cure and that Reflexologists do not diagnose illness nor do they practice medicine. I would always complete a consultation with a client and recommend a client to get advice from a GP where needed. I will take your comments on board and reflect how I can make this clearer.😊

      Sorry to hear that and I hope you are feeling better. Yes you can do self reflexology. Probably easier doing hand reflexology on yourself than foot reflexology but if you are flexible enough it is possible. I would recommended purchasing a text book as a reference guide on self reflexology from somewhere reasonably priced like amazon or world of books. This way you have a reference tool to guide you. Good luck with this I hope it helps you!😊
