  • In November 2014, the tribes of the Fort Peck Indian Reservation received a second installment of genetically pure Yellowstone bison from Ted Turner's Montana ranch. Turner had been the caretaker of the bison for several years. The move to Fort Peck, which was supported by numerous conservation organizations, is intended to augment the genetically pure herd that the tribes established in 2012.

Wow, I'm watching this on 12-12-19...and I looked at the post date and just about fell-out. It must have been destiny to watch this great video today. When the chutes opened and the native people were singing and drumming as the bison came down the chutes....brought tears to my old eyes. Thank God this beautiful animal didn't go extinct like the Passenger Pigeon and the Carolina Parakeet and so many other animals. I'm still pulling for the Tasmanian Tiger to be found.....gotta have some hope. It'd be nice to get an update on this herd and I'll look to see if there is one.

Will they be allowed to roam or be stuck within fences forever?

Amazing job on making it happen, but that is the worst release of wild animals I have ever seen.
