  • 2002 Olympic Bronze Medalist and two-time World Silver Medalist Timothy Goebel looks back at the 1999 Skate America, where he became the first figure skater to land three quadruple jumps in one program. He also talks about the expectations afterwards, the mechanics of the quads and why he was able to land 76 in his career, and the current state of skating. He also chimes in on the 6.0 vs. IJS debate. Thank you for watching Skate Talk Online!

    Wonderful interview with Tim Goebel.
And I really believe that the skating programs that he was able to deliver WOULD be competitive with what skaters are doing now...I mean, then and even NOW, not too many skaters can do multiple quad jumps like he could and still be consistent.
    Again, wonderful interview...🤩🤩🤩!!!

Great interview. Interesting that he did not believe a quad axel would be coming anytime soon...and the skater who achieved it in 2022 has the attributes that Tim identified as having been key to his own success with quads.
