It is really odd how people are bashing the sound and imagery of this album. I get the look. It's called Black Widow, and in the Cover art, and especially in the "Sick Like Me" video is a lot of imagery of a black widow spider. I have loved all the different musical styles they have employed on this album. I remember Blondie did so much experimental stuff in their day. Plus this band likes to make sure you get a show. I really like that. I hope they come down to the Gulf Coast again, and I can get out to see them live.

This song and "Bloody Creature Poster Girl" are my favorite songs off of Black Widow. I wish they had made vids for those songs instead of a couple of the other songs on the new album, but they are still one of my favorite bands. I have been a fan for a long time and watching their evolution has been amazing. Quite a few people have made the comment that their new stuff is better than their old stuff, or that their old stuff is better than their new stuff. I like it all, old and new. Evolution is the trademark of a successful band and if they didn't mature and change their sound up with each progressive album, I think they would have stagnated. What they did in the past was considered hardcore for that time period and now they have progressed into a different kind of hardcore for this one. They have been through some things over the past decade and that has given them a new maturity and a new depth to their music. Sure, it's deeper and darker than their old material, but as we get older we tend to go through deep and dark events in our lives and I feel like their new material is just as relatable as their older material. Anyway, hope this gives some of you a better perspective to contemplate than the old "whycan'tmybandjustplaythesamestufftheyusedtoplay" or "whydidn'tmybandplaythisstuffbefore" stances. Think about it: aside from the very few of you who are still dwelling in your mother's basement, most of you aren't even the same person you were ten years ago, so why would you expect a BAND to be? ;)
I have to say that is not just music (the term lost most of its value recently), but ART (true art). I listen to a shit ton of art music, and this is one of the best, if not the best piece of art that I`ve listened to this year. My new, favorite band, I thank you.

But my two best friends insisted I go to this concert. Not knowing what to expect when Maria's stage curtain dropped to reveal her. I literally lost my cool. I fell IN LOVE with this band. She is like Britney and Gaga combined with the dancing, fantastic fashion and theatrics with the Marilyn Manson sound. Such uniqueness. And such a class act. Inbetween sets when she would talk to us. She wasnt all metalhead screaming f*** sh¡+ up type of a girl. But such a genuinely sweet woman who was all about love and happyness. Not what I expected AT ALL. Im so glad my friends dragged me along to this show. :)
Had one hell of a thrill ride dream the other night. Every time I hear this song I get flashbacks to that dream. Have it all written out and working it into a potential music video for Dirty Pretty. Featuring The Monarchs. A high class society of strong, beautiful women that few know of and are respected like royalty. The woman I was with in the dream looks much like Maria Brink.
