Overbooking should be ILLEGAL. It’s ridiculous absolutely ABSURD.
Yep. I got booked from work for a flight where I had to be on as training was the next day. They overbooked it. I had to spend the night in the airport and wait for the early flight the next day because they didn’t see it as their fault.
@@dylandurose7096 Overbooking can work fine IF it's well managed. US airlines have historically been horribly managed.
I thought the same until I looked at the profit margins and how many people don't show up to flights. Airlines run on EXTREMELY low profit margins. They are making like 10 bucks on a 70 or 80 dollar ticket and in a lot of cases you won't even know your ticket was overbooked. There are so many seats on a flight that it is only rare that two people show up for the same ticket. Now the thing is it is how you handle the situation that matters and this was terrible but it can work fine and without it these airlines wouldn't exist. No one would invest in them. We wouldn't be able to fly as easily as we do

The fact that airlines are allowed to overbook is disgusting. If u have 100 seats, sell 100 tickets. Not 105, not 110, 100. I would vote for any person, Republican Democrat or commie, if they pledged to make that illegal. I dont even fly often at all and have been screwed by that at least 5 or 6 times
It's shitty but they have such slim profit margins that if they didn't and people canceled and multiply that by thousands of flights per day and the company would go broke. You would have to make it so that if you booked and canceled you would still have to pay the full ticket amount.
SheepDog tiny profit margins...... no they don’t. The real problem is all the big wigs paying themselves too much and trying to make too much money on money on money that they run them like that. It’s nothing but pure greed and the public have to pay for it, literally and figuratively!

@@barnziee7319 It can't, but it will definetly be a fucking disaster because of overbooking. Unless you want to work 172 hours a week then chances are you will want to quit that job. About the struggling thing, who are you referring to? They get paid $3500 tops a month. The only people that are greedy is the CEO.

Similar thing happened to me, I was flying first class because my mom was pregnant and we needed the extra space and united told us they overbooked. We had a layover where we were able to at least get business but it was still really annoying that we had to deal with all that. I haven’t flown with united since then and I never will.
I knew from the second he started talking he was talking about United. Unfortunately I have to fly them to get home from University but I've seen this exact story before at United

Like I said. Many things could have been done to make sure his seats were not overbooked, upgraded to someone else, bought out, whatever the case.

@@sean_delay dude me too my family travels a lot so we pay for a membership for our own plane it's much more convenient and cheaper if you fly a lot
Personally I love southwest too. Usually the cheapest with two free checked bags and carry on. Probably depends on where you are from though. I'm from CA, and SW is big here.
If that had been me, I would have been punching holes in walls and tearing up the airport by the end. That literally made me so mad and I just had to listen to a story of it. Can't imagine how mad Tim was that day.

Thats pretty rough, at least you didn't miss the connecting flight from delays or something. Airlines used to be such a streamlined and nice experience now I feel like its just getting worse and worse because airlines are struggling to make as much as they can off flights so they overbook and don't care for the consumer experience because at the end of the day they are getting more money. I remember back in the day you used to get complimentary shit like headphones, snacks, drinks now you got to pay for that stuff.

Might get buried, but I always recommend Delta if available. Ive had a plane DAMAGED before take off, a storm came through and blew one of those carts into it. Im thinking we are screwed, they were able to change flights around and it was only an hour 1/2 delay. Ive also had econmy and been able to change my ticket date/time because of weather when technically they arent suppose to. You pay a bit more with Delta but you get great service.

I agree United is terrible, we had to miss our plane bc they overbooked the ENTIRE plane, and then our flight got cancelled for no reason and we were stuck on the edge of New Jersey with no luggage, bc they got on a flight back to Kansas City, even tho our flight there was cancelled?!?!?!? So we worked out that we had 4 CONNECTING FLIGHTS, eventually we made it to Kansas City tho, after 2 STRAIGHT days of no sleep, despite waking up at 6 am in Ireland, which was midnight my time, when we found out our baggage was in Kansas City the whole time, we left as soon as we got it, never flew with them again, (granted only had one flight since then, but still) apparently United is also responsible for the death of several animals. Worst airline ever if u ask me,

I flew with United before and they took years to get our stuff then the security oh good they thought we had tnt powder but it was caster or something I forgot how to spell it then they forget to serve snacks to us but do it to everyone
Life lesson, always read the fare rules of the ticket, each ticket is different. He bought most likely the lowest class fare of United in First Class. In the fare rules of the tickets it will say that for any reason United can downgrade you at any time. Usually called a Y Up Fare, means your getting the lowest cost ticket in First Class , they have the least flexible rules and most restrictive.

If you ever have a delay on a flight, or if they hold you back or call you up or offer to change seats.
They pull bags, and they ALWAYS forget to put them back on, make sure you tell them before you get on the flight.
And if they seem like they brush past it like yes okay, make sure they do. Because they won’t.
